I read on another site that the Poly shampoos the carpet in all guest rooms prior to guests checking in. Anybody (maybe Tikiman:) ) know if this is true or not????

Thanks

Lisa

I just returned from the Poly today. I do not know whether they carpet clean each room, but I did see them steam cleaning the carpet in front of the elevators in the Hawaii building.

Thanks!! I was wondering whether I read the post correctly, as it seemed like a lot of extra work and expense to do this. It certainly would be nice, though! Hotel carpets are always pretty nasty!

Our room was very clean and the carpet looked new. I did not notice any stains. They did a good job keeping the resort clean. The Poly was sold out while we were there, but our room was cleaned early and we had turn down every night.:D

No they do not. I have seen the maids clean a room before the next guests a number of times and they have never steamed cleaned the rooms. They do vaccuum them every day but that is it. They might do it once a month of something.

Was at the Poly in late July and early August. They were cleaning the carpets with a steam type cleaner in the Hawaii bldg. We actually got into our room before they had done it so they did it when we left for the pool. You can request it if you get into the room before it has been done.

Yes they do from my experience. Not only have our rooms been done every time we have checked in but everyone we have talked to when there said the same thing as well as a housekeeper said it was policy to deep clean every room before the next guest checks in. I know many don't like the carpet being wet when they check in but was are happy to deal with a half a day of moisture to have a clean carpet to walk on.

I must miss the cleaning then. I have seen the maids clean numerous times before new folks check in and they have never steamed clean. Vacuumed yes, but not steam cleaned. We've stayed there 6 times and have never experienced wet or damp carpet either.

It's good to know that they steam clean or vacuum the room for new guests :p I've read other postings where people have found things on the floor from previous guests that should have been cleaned up.

skiwee1,

I believe it is a different person who comes and does that cleaning so maybe you are seeing the housekeeper who cleans up but not the person who comes along and does the carpets. They would have to vacuume before the deep clean. The reason I think it is a different person that comes along after the housekeeper is because when I have walked around the longhouses during the day and see the rooms being cleaned I have seen the person cleaning the carpets but they were not there with the housekeeping cart.

Sometimes our carpets are still wet at check in and other times they have been dry by the time we check in. It all depends on when the room was done.

Than again maybe you are right and they do not deep clean every room. It just happens to be what I have experienced myself and others I have talked to.

Aloha

Steve

We stayed in Tahiti at the Poly in June. Our carpet was cleaned two or three days into our stay. It was great to feel secure going barefoot.
