Carousel of Progress

This seems like a very nice ride and my DW and DD both absolutely love this ride, but I can not help but taking a little break during this ride :bored:. I have fought it pretty hard to stay awake, but i think it is the cool room with the monotone voice that gives me flashbacks from college and I can't stay awake. What I have seen of it, I have kind of enjoyed.

we rode it while there and it worked perfect...I would imagine it would be open during the majority of the summer altho I don't know by what season they're referring when they say "open seasonally".

we enjoyed and teased each other that we couldn't get the song out of our heads.

WE were there June 17-26 and we saw it. It was a walk on. I love that attraction. We brought my father-in-law with us during this trip. It was his 1st trip in 25 years. It was one of the attractions he remembered from 25 years ago.

Wasn't this Walt's favorite attraction? Since he himself created it, shouldn't it stay? If they don't stop their "progress", WDW will turn into a run of the mill park. Sure hope it's open when we go in Sept. The original song is back now???

I remember it from 41 years ago @ the 64/65 NYC Worlds Fair...I was 4 at the time. It made a HUGE impact on me. :earsboy:

I remember it from the World's Fair also. I was 8 and thought it was the coolest ride ever! I hope they rehab it back to the condition it deserves to be in. And keep it open all the time too! :goodvibes

My 4 year old daughter saw it (finally!) for the first time this May. She LOVED it, wanted to ride it again but we had to meet back up with my husband and 6 year old daughter.

She now plays with her dolls and makes them sing "it's a great big beautiful tomorrow!" Too cool. Grandma with the goggles on is too funny.

My dad, who has built corian, formica and engineered stone countertops for the past 40 years was like, man, does that kitchen need an update!

Bump!

Is this true - is it the original song again? When I heard "It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" about 10 years ago, I thought I was crazy for not remembering it. Was I really crazy or is it a different song?

YAY! For some reason I started at the end of this thread - doh! Now THAT sounds familiar. How fun! :Pinkbounc

Me, too, but I was 9 or 10...I think It's a Small World was there, too and I seem to remember one of them was sponsored by Coke (or Pepsi....some soda company).....

My memories of COP were that 1st it was "Now is the Time" and then it got changed to "It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow". I wonder what it was at the World's Fair...which was first?

We really like COP! We didn't do it our first trip, was closed on my next trip (solo), did it on my next solo trip and loved it- and ever since the kids have done COP they loved it too!
And I have to agree-- boy it SURE was nice to do it on our last trip (mid-june).. boy what a relief from the heat/humidity in there! We didn't really want it to be over when it was over. LOL

PEPSI!

I remember this because it was VERY VERY VERY hot..and my parents put me & my two sisters on the line for IASW ...and we rode it over & over..for hours.
My parents were in the pavillion next to IASW, it was BUDWISER BREWERY...and the sold beer.

Needless to say Mom & Pop ...and Nana were a little tipsy. I remember them telling me they were drinking Pepsi all afternoon.

Me & my sister's rode IASW at least 20 times.

AHHHHHHHHHHH the good old days when parents could just drop their kids off at rides, at the movies...wherever and go about their business or get toasted!

"It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" is the original, and what plays currently at COP

It's interesting....COP has been "open seasonally" for a few years now, but is no longer listed as such on the official web site. Does anyone know if they're now keeping it open year round? (And hey, the fact that we're going in September has NOTHING to do with this question!) :rotfl:

You know, the last 2 Decembers we have been there it has been open. We go the week after Thanksgiving and it has been open.

My last few trips there it was open as well, and neither were all that seasonal either. You are right about that, they used to list it as seasonal. Maybe they saw how many people here still love the CoP.

Now they need to update the last era. Has anyone seen "Kitchen Trends" and "I Want That" on HGTV? The newest things are beyond what the last scene shows. People DO love this ride. It is warm, sweet and nostalgic, and in this world today, these are good things. And A/C and a padded seat when you are hot and tired are a great plus too!
