The Carousel of Progress is one of my favorite classic Disney rides. Does anyone know why it is only open during peak times and not all the time?

I'll be going the week before President's week. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will be open.

..but alas, we are in the minority. There was a real concern that it was to be permanently CLOSED about 2 years ago. However, petitions and alot of letters gave this wonderful site a reprieve. However, I hear that once the Xtraterresteral (sp??) closes down, Carousel will, once again be open full time!! I am going in March and I really hope so!!
BTW, my thoughts are that it is not enough of a "thrill" for the average theme park visitor. While it would be lovely to update it (but NOT change it) it remains one of the most charming WDW attractions and one of my favorites!!

Why is it open only during peak season? It is a direct conspiracy against me, my family and our vacation plans! I offer this as added proof: We are making our first Christmas trip and Osborne lights and Tapestry of Dreams are both gone!

...just let me stew here in my delusional, paranoid state!

BUMP@!!!

This will be our third Disney trip in four years, and we have yet to experience this attraction.

My roommate works in Tommorowland and they will be opening TimeKeeper and CoP once Alien Encounter closes! But not until like mid October! AE will be closed for about a year so chances are good it will be open when your come!

We always visit in early June--the week before COP and Timekeeper open for the "peak" season so we have never got to experience these classics:( I am hoping that it will be open this June while AE is in rehab...
