Carousel of Progress

My kids are 12 & 9. They have been to Disney World 4 times. They have never seen the Carousel of Progress. It is ALWAYS closed when we go. I remember it fondly from my childhood visits.....

Is there a chance it will be open when we go again in mid-October?

Nope. I think it closes for the season around the middle of August. Probably won't open til week between Xmas and New Years if then.

Unfortunately, in recent years I've only seen it open when I've been there for Christmas week and Easter week. Even then, the hours are limited.

Hopefully your kids will get to see it someday. It's one of my all-time favorites too.

That was always my fav growing up. I have only seen it with my oldest child, and he was 2 at the time. It would be nice if they opened it back up year round

It was open when I was there the 1st week of July. It didn't open until about 10:45 a.m. that day. It's a shame that it's not open all of the time. It could use a rehab of the seats. They smell musty and sweaty.

It was open during American Thanksgiving last year and then it closed until Christmas. Sorry...

What is the Carousel of Progress? I too have Never seen it open, and I never got to go to WDW as a kid either.

I've always wondered what people are talking about when they quote the song. It must be a pretty catchy tune.

COP is easily one of my very favorite attractions at WDW and I will be pretty sad if it's not open the last week of August. I'm not sure why the Disney Company feels it's old and unwanted, my DD saw it for the first time when she was 4 and loved it ever since. At 14, she's still wishing she could see it again, alas, it will probably be closed.

Thanks, *********** for the great photos of COP. It brings back such great memories.

COP is one of my favorite attractions. I saw it for the first time at the NY World's Fair in 1964. And except for last year, I've seen it everytime I've been to Disney.

This year it won't be open when we're there, and we're going with a family that's never been to Disney and I was hoping that they would be able to see it. Since we always go the last week in August, I guess I'll won't be seeing this attraction again. Well, maybe I'll have to plan a trip when it will be open.

If we all think its so popular, why doesn't Disney?

During the summer CoP will be open limited hours. I think they are something like 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
