Carousel of Progress Show questions

Does anyone else think of Norm MacDonald when they see/hear the father on CoP? I'd swear they modeled that character after him.

Jean Shepherd, the voice of the father in the current COP, is extremely famous for his narration skills, in his own right.

Jean is the voice of the adult narrator, "Ralphie" (the main character) in the perenial holiday favorite, A Christmas Story. (Jean also wrote the book on which that movie is based.)
And, that "Jean Shepherd voice" was already very famous for decades before that film was created due to Jean Shepherd's popular radio shows.
Jean, with his natural humous style, was a great choice for playing the father in CoP.

So, if anything, Norm McDonald's delivery would more likely be modeled after Jean Shepherd's than the other way around.

(And, really, each performer is just being "natural" in their own style, anyway.)

Yeah, I didn't mean to suggest that I truly thought that the character was modeled after Norm. It just strikes me each time and makes me laugh a little inside.

My DD (11) is obsessed with CoP. She saw it for the first time when she was 9. She had to ride it a half a dozen of times just studying all the details. This trip she only rode it twice, but it’s a must do for our family.

My DD noticed in the final scene that the grandmother did not have her VR headset over her eyes, so there was no way she could be playing the video game on the TV. Not sure if it was just a glitch that day or if it’s an always oversight.

It was a mechanical problem.
She normally flips the VR viewer down over her eyes as she plays.
Then, flips it back up afterwards.

To see the viewer "flip," go HERE and jump to 16:20 deep.
Then, play from there.
