Carousel of Progress Question

I was just looking at the November hours for our upcoming trip, and in doing so, noticed the section called Operational Updates.
While I see The Timekeeper is noted as being open seasonally, I don't see any mention of Carousel of Progress. I assume this means CoP is now open all the time? My kids fell in love with this ride (they still sing about a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow spontaneously!) the last time we were there....hoping it will be open in November!

It was open in January this year and was wondering also if it's open all the time now. It's such a classic.

Carousel of Progress is scheduled to be closed when Stich's Escape opens. Folks have said, and I have noticed a few places (in the seating, not yet in the show) that the ride is deteriorating, and the continuous operation of the past several months may mean that rehab will be needed in short order.

It was open all day during August, at least.

One rumor suggests that COP will get a refurbishing. Another rumor suggests that it may be moved to another Disney park (Hong Kong?) operated there for awhile, and then pass into oblivion. A shame, since it was one of the original animatronic Disney rides and deserves preservation as part of Walt's legacy.

seashoreCM,

That is certainly not what I wanted to hear! But, thank you.

PS I hope you are wrong ;)

*SIGH* say it isn't so...PLEASE say it isn't so...

There are currently no plans to remove the Carousel of Progress. It may return to seasonal operation when Stitch's Great Escape opens, and it is tentatively scheduled for a minor refurbishment at that time.

AAGH! I was 6 years old when the Carousel moved from Disneyland. I'm going to WDW for the first time Sept. 9th through 15th. I was so looking forward to seeing it, as I have only very hazy recollections (like some model of a city, looking at it like you were high in an airplane- was it there, or am I losing my mind?) I hope its open!!

Just got back, the Carousel of Progress was open all day. DW and I love this ride and hope that it is never retired.

we were in Orlando from 6th - 28th August for our 6th visit and this is the first time that we have seen CoP and we did it twice, the kids loved it and as behappy posted they sing the song all the time (they were singing it in the closet during the height of hurricane charley) - the first time we rode it did breakdown for about 5 mins.

We were also lucky on one day to find timekeeper open - didn't see it open after that as we would have loved to do it again!!

Don't scream... Stitch's Great Escape will not be open until mid-Oct or Nov, so the Carousel of Progress will almost definitely be operating when you visit...

Incedentally, the Model city was never a part of the attraction in any of its WDW incarnations, although a portion of the model, originally known as "Progress City," and very similar to Walt's initial vision of EPCOT, is featured on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (WEDWay Peoplemover).

Hope it's open the first week in Oct. Been closed (when we visit) the last 8-10 trips.

Thanks! I found Progress City at the Yesterland website. I guess my childhood recollections was correct! They say it was 6900 square feet. I'll look forward to seeing part of it in the TTA. Funny, looking back, I realize we went on that ride a lot because it was free (no ticket required). I still have some D and A tickets. We always ran out of E's and C's first.
