CAROUSEL OF PROGRESS - Is it still there?

Seasonally is a very nice way of saying.. "Open when we darn-well please."

There is no publicly available schedule unfortunately.

Y'all do realize that Carousel of Progress, along with Its A Small World and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln were developed by Walt Disney for the 1964 / 65 New York World's Fair. Walt actually used these 3 original "attractions" to gauge the right coast's acceptance of an east coast Disneyland type experience. The 3 Disney shows were smash hits in New York (and you know what they say...if you can make it there...) Shortly after the overwhelming public reception of COP, IASM, and GMWML land was being bought up in central Florida.

So you see, the COP is the spark that ignited the development of Walt Disney World. It is Walt at his best IMO. I hope it has many more great big beautiful tomorrows! :)

I loved riding COP in MK, it's been gone from DL for so my years...it brought back alot of wonderful memories.

Well said :)

I hope CoP stays for 3 reasons:

1) It represents two of Walt Disney's central interests (as noted by the CoP intro itself): Progress and the American Family. And well, it seems like Walt Disney World should contain and reflect its namesake's/creator's major interests! Especially in a way so clearly and well done as in the CoP.

2) It is SUCH an easy attraction to update in terms of theory. (Logistically may be a differnt story). The whole ride is about "progress", which is change (which is the only constant anyway!). So CoP should never REALLY be that far out of date if Disney maintained its specifics well. And even now the last scene isnt totally out of date in terms of looking to the future. As a vid game connoisseur, I can say that Virtual Reality games are not yet presently mastered or even attempted! Admittedly I'm not too up to date on conversing with ovens though...that may be commonplace..though i havent seen anyone talk to their oven yet! Though toasters can be quite fun to chat with...

Ahem..my point is that this attraction's theme is, by definition, one that can never be out of date or behind the times as long as the the specifics are well maintained.

3) And I personally really enjoy COP! I love the characters, the look into the past, and the relaxed, familiar nature of the show :)

I went on the COP at the New York Worlds Fair in 64/65 at least 20 times and then every time I went to WDW (5)
The song in the same, "It's a great big beautiful tommorrow" and but boy have the scenes changed but the biggest hit was always the moving building, watching it from inside and outside while waiting on line, and the audio-animetronics .
Anyway I'll be back at the end of June and hope that it is open
Always brings back great memories of my youth
