Ok after MUCH deliberating last night with hubby think we decided on Carousel Inn! Please tell me I am not making a mistake. This is our first real family vacation and its for my sons 5th birthday. I want this to be a good experience for all of us! :confused3

A mistake, no. It just wouldn't of been my first choice.

skiingfast, UGH please help I feel like I am going to really regret which everyone I choose!!! Carousel has a pretty good price, right across the street, good neighbor hotel. We are really just looking for something close and at a decent rate, & something that is clean! More and more I read I get REALLY confused! I need to book asap as we are coming in on May 21st and checking out on the 25th to head down to San Diego. We will not have a car, don't care about Wi-Fi, breakfast in the morning is seeming like one thing that is not that important (sense there are restaurants right along that strip) but would still be nice. I am reading more than I like that It was not as clean as people like!?!?!

I have never stayed at that hotel but the location to DL is great, a co-worker of mine stays there all the time and seems to like it. We have stayed at Best Western Park Pl INN 2 years ago, and the beds were comfortable, it was clean, right across the st. and you get comp. brkfst. It books up fast though, this yr. we r staying at Ramada maingate.
Plus at Best western you get a couch pull out in your room if you book the mini suite so you have a living area and it doesn't cost that much more

Thanks for the responses back from you who said they loved/liked there stay! Can you recommend a room to me? It is just my husband and I and are 4 yr old (almost 5 in June) son. I am looking at the 2qeen beds, any suggestions on what floor ext...We plan on being up early and my son really does not take scheduled naps (if he is tired he will just crash, lol).

The Carousel Inn is a perfectly fine motel. We have had several nice stays there. You are over thinking this (don't worry, I do that too!). You will have a great time, no worries, enjoy your trip!

We chose PVI for our birthday celebrations the kids get presents and cake. Breakfast, Light dinner, welcome basket, free parking, snacks, etc

DSNY4ever, you are right...ugh it is just me! Got burned back in 05 staying in a hotel before a cruise in Florida! :scared:
I just want this to be a good all around vacation for us and my sons 5th birthday. I even started looking at Paradise Pier Hotel (the cheaper of the three) and saying hmmmm???

The Carousel Inn is a nice hotel with very comfortable beds. I stayed in a 2 queen room.....the furniture is big & fills the room......so the area can get tight unless you keep things organized. There's a slider door to separate the main room from the sink/bathroom area. You have the wood window shutters which are nice & the room stays dark at night & we never had issues with noise.

They have a nice breakfast room with a view of Disneyland. I never went in & ate, but my friends said they had a decent offering of breakfast foods. You can also opt to pay for a hot sandwich from Quinzno's which is on the property. As a guest of the motel, the sandwich is cheaper if you get the tickets from the front desk.

The only issue we had is the elevator. It's extremely slow........ We were on the 4th floor, so early in the day going up & down the stairs wasn't a big deal but at the end of a long day......4 flights of stairs seems like torture.

The staff is friendly & you won't be sorry for your choice. The location is great & will make it easy for you to come back to the motel in the afternoon for breaks.

I have pics of my stay~~Post #579

We stayed at the Carousel on our first trip in Dec. 2008 and it was really good. Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, continental breakfast was what you'd expect but got us through the morning. My Husband and son often opted for the breakfast burrito they offered for an extra fee. Kids used the pool and had no complaints. Location was awesome, our room was on the second floor, we always walked up.

Our second trip in Jan 2011 we stayed at the Tropicana and it was also good. Rooms were clean, bed was comfortable (though not as comfy as the Carousel),my daughter and I did not enjoy the continental breakfast at all but my husband and son thought it was adequate. The pool and hottub are much better at the Tropicana even if it is in the middle of the parking lot. Location was awesome, a few minutes closer than Carousel). They have a very nice little convenience store that we made good use of as well.

Our next trip (coming up Nov 27-Dec 4 2012) we are booked at the BW Park Place Inn as we got an excellent rate and are hoping to get giftcards from Airmiles to pay for it. My sister-in-law and her family stayed there on our Jan 2011 trip and they enjoyed it a lot. I hear they have revamped their breakfast and have more offerings now.

I think if you go with whichever one gives you the best rate out of those hotels close to the crosswalk you'll be happy.

Thank you all for the feed back!

I just booked us a 2 q bedroom at $104.13 a night...can't beet that! We will be there May 21-25 and I can not wait it has been sense I was in my young 20's at Disneyland and before that I was just a child. :yay:

We just got home last night after 4 nights at the Carousel. We also stayed there a few years ago. I really like it and would stay again!
It is a great place to stay. Clean, comfy beds, nice staff and the location is awesome! So close to the park entrance!
We had 2 adults, and 2 kids (age 2 and 6) in one room with 2 queen beds. I agree that there is not a whole lot of extra space, but my 2 year old found enough space to play:)
My only criticism is that the tv lost satellite a lot-my older son watched the disney channel while my little one napped and it kept going to a black screen. Not a big deal, really- we were not there to watch tv;)
Have fun!!

mrs.ariel, that is one thing I kept reading about was the tv! But like you said not there to watch tv and or are focus is Disneyland and a nice place to lay are heads after words with our son!;) With the Stay 4 nights save 20% I might just up grade and pay a little more as i am still getting a pretty good deal. The room size wonder about with 2 adults and a 4yr old!?!

We upgraded to a suite a few years ago for the extra bed and space- but the suites are right in front- along the busy street and it was VERY loud! I would rather stay in a regular room where it is quiet (and it was!)

Good to know! So how did you get from airport to hotel? We are flying in around 9pm. When we depart we will be taking the Amtrak train down to San Diego where we are visiting some of my husbands family that had moved down there.

I have used Super Shuttle many time to get from the ariport. They drop you right at your hotel.

You can either get SuperShuttle or the Disneyland Resort Express.

People have said that they found coupons for discounts, so try going to Google and type in

SuperShuttle Anaheim discount
Disneyland Resort Express discount

and maybe you can find a coupon for some $ off.

You'll really like getting up and just walking a few minutes to get to the Disneyland and California Adventure parks :).

You might want to also make some reservations at the Downtown Disney restaurants or Blue Bayou, and can do that by calling 714-781-3463 (option 4). You can even make same-day reservations, usually before 3pm.

If you want something close by you have Millies and Mimis Cafe right there, or even McDonalds, Dennys, etc. :)

Personally this is one of my favorite off site hotel. Actually it's a motel but the rooms have always been very clean, the beds very comfortable and I plan to stay here again in August. I love the fact that the pool is on the rooftop giving that extra privacy. It's a bit on the smaller side but its still a nice place to go to. Plus the Carousel is right across the street from the Disneyland resort and crosswalk. You can't beat the location. I have also stayed at the Tropicana and Howard Johnson, but Carousel is on the top of my list. I've recommended it in the past and will continue to do so.
