Has anybody been to this hotel? I have booked a stay there in August and wondered if there was anything I need to know.

however, they sure have a very rigid cancellation policy

Deposit Policy: This is a prepaid reservation. The entire cost of your stay, including tax, will be charged upon booking. You are only responsible for incidentals during your stay.

Guarantee Policy: In the event of cancellation, a non-refundable fee of $20.00 (USD) will be applied. This is in addition to any penalties which may applied by the hotel due to their cancellation policy.

Normally, only your first nite is charged and you get at least a 48 hour cancellation period. So I am not sure why they are so rigid here--that would be my only negative since I have never stayed there personally.

I booked through Orbitz, so I was not charged for the whole stay. It does sound like they have a rigid cancellation policy. I guess I just have to hope I don't need to cancel!

I think so. I have looked at several sites and have not seen any bad reviews. Last year we stayed at the Hojo. Wanted something different this year.

I haven't stayed here but I belond to a more Disneyland oriented message board at www.laughingplace.com. There has been some discussion of the Carousel over the past year. Most of the reviews are fine to good. There is one person who was assigned an older unremodeled room and had some other issues but in general it seems to be an okay place to stay. I have my favorites so never stay there. It has a great location near the cross walk over to the parks.

Thanks for the information and the website. I will check it out. Just curious, what are you favorites?

I like the Howard Johnson. It has more extensive grounds with pine trees and two pools. There are numerous buildings but each building has interior corridors so most of the rooms have balconies. It is a bit farther of a walk than Carousel. I also like Candy Cane and Anabella Inns.

I liked the Hojo too. The grounds are beautiful. As for two pools, the time we were there (last August), one was under renovation and this time when I looked at their website, it said the pool was still under renovation. I just got a better deal at Carousel, so decided to try it out.:D

At three times the cost though! When you are staying 2 weeks, that adds up very quickly!

if you checked out the Laughingplace.com board you may have seen my review, but in a nut shell here it goes.

We stayed December of 2002 for 2 nights and had very little problems. At the time they were redoing thier roof top pool, so we did not get to check that out. We were however in the room just below the pool, so we were happy not to have to foot traffic above us.

It seems our room was a recent remodel. The furniture was new and the beds were comfy. I don't think our room was used for a bit due to the roof construction. The room key did not work at first and it was a long walk back to the front desk with two tired kids to get it rekeyed. After walking back it still did not work, but the maintenance man was called to meet me at the room just in case and he opened the door. He said he would put a new lock on the door (which he did), but upon looking in the room he noticed the phone had been pulled from the wall and my sister found the tv did not work. Since we were heading to DL to eat dinner, Javier (the maintenance man) assured us these things would be fixed by the time we returned. They were and we had no other issues with the room.

The walk to the park was easy, even with two little ones in strollers. The longest part was waiting for the cross walk light (less than a minute most of the time). Breakfast is decent. Fresh fruit, pastries, and a few different drinks. We had packed a few packets of instant oatmeal for the kids and they loved it. It was enough to keep us until early lunches. It was nice to take a few apples to the park with us though. Great healthy snacks.

We had a standard room (two queen beds) and were able to fit a crib in it for my nephew and it was not in the way. My sister and I both got ready in the morning and I don't remember having any problems with space, but I can't fully remember if the sink is outside the shower area. I've been to three different DL area hotels in the past 6 months and they are kinda blending together in my mind right now.

We would stay there again. During our stay in December I was able to get buy one night get one free at 99.00 per night (so 49.50 each night). I booked this rate via their website and have seen it every now and then since.

Thanks for the great information. We are looking forward to our stay in August.
