Can you girls tell me how carolyn allens works?

My dress is alittle on the large side so i'd rather ship it down to them before the wedidng, have them steam it ect. I also looked on their website and found some suits that DF likes. I also read that they'll deliver and pick up the suits which is great!
When do you call them?
How does renting a suit happen?
do you just give them the measurements and style the groom wants?
Since you dont know your hotel room until you check in do you just call them when you get there?

Thanks ladies! :grouphug:

I called about 5 months out and started the process, but we didn't send them tux measurements or anything until about 2 months out.

Yes. They are part of the Jim's Formalwear network, so we went to a local tux dealer affiliated with Jim's, and DH tried on the different styles we liked from Jim's website. He also had his measurements taken for free. Then we filled out Carolyn Allen's form with his measurements and the names and style numbers of the different pieces we needed and emailed it back to them.

Exactly. We had the payments made and the fitting appointment set before we left for Florida. Once we got there, we called them with our room number and had a fitting. I had also shipped my dress down 2 weeks before, so they brought it to our room the day of the wedding and steamed it.

Thanks for the help Carrie! I've heard nothing but good things about them. I am alittle worried about shipping my dress but it'll be fine.

I'll have to find A tux dealer affiliated with them around here! I'm really excited to see DF all dressed up

Yes, seeing our fellas all dressed up is one of the best parts! :goodvibes

I knew I was forgetting to do something. Do you think it is possible for them to still do the steaming and tuxedos for us if we are just 2 months out?

Drop them an email and see if they can help. They have been really really helpful and friendly when we have had questions and have bent over backwards to help us.

The dress steaming is $85, $20 for a crinnie and $20 for any additional items. The tuxes range in price from $115 to $165 (typically this is the one my OH had!) and they take either a 50% deposit or the full amount. You can also pay for the steaming up front too if you want.

Thank you! So it would be 85 for each addition dress correct?

Also does anyone know what the estimated price would be for a small tux for a 5 yr old?

Thank ZipADeeEm I was about to just make my mom and flower girls try to steam their own dresses haha.

My dress can't be steamed since it is taffeta, has anyone else use Carolyn Allens to press a gown? I am concerned about who to use for this.

Also I will probably be shipping my gown down a few weeks before the wedding. I have heard such good things about Carolyn Allens, but DF found a tux he really wants and they don't carry it, so I am wondering if I should use the place he gets his tux from for my gown pressing?

Looking for help!
:thumbsup2

My dress and bridesmaids dresses were also taffeta, and Carolyn Allens pressed all of them. It went very smoothly, and I would recommend them without hesitation.
