Carol's Challenge on "South Beach". Can I do it? (Comments Welcome!)

Hi Carol. The exercise will come when you are ready. You are right, 15 lbs does make a big difference doesn't it?;)

wilderness...I know that exercise is important and want to add that to my life. Other than losing weight, exercise will make a big difference in how I feel.

I really had a good day. My menu was:

water

breakfast- 2 boiled eggs, 6 oz. veggie juice, decaf

snack- celery with laughing cow cheese, water

supper- boiled chicken breast, early peas, salad with cucumber, tomatoes, with olive oil vinagerette, water

snack- lf moz. cheese string, sf orange jello, decaf

more water

I slept later today and that's the reason I did not have more to eat. Weigh-in tomorrow! YIKES!!!

Boo! Hoo! I didn't lose even a half of a pound this past week. I knew that this day was coming. As long as I stay strong, I will be alright. It is hard not to get discouraged when I feel that I didn't eat anything that I shouldn't have. Oh well...maybe next week!

Tracy...Thanks for that Happy Birthday wish! I am really excited about our vacation. Time as just flown by since we started planning this trip! I love planning almost as much as taking a vacation!

Have a wonderful day!:sunny:

Carol,

You are doing a great job staying OP. The scale will cooperate soon. Is TOM approaching? I can gain uptp 6 pounds with TOM? Keep up the great work, and keep dreaming of Disney.
Beth

Carol,

I know it is hard not to get discouraged. You are doing a GREAT job. Pat yourself on the back. Have you been taking your measurements? That can help keep you OP when the nasty scale does not cooperate.

Beth...Tom visited for two weeks and has been gone for about 4 days. I figured that at the previous two weigh-ins, since Tom was visiting, I was holding some water weight. So, that is one of the main reasons that I was disappointed this week when I hadn't lost anything!!! Thanks for the encouragement!!!

wilderness...I haven't even thought of taking my measurements. What a great idea! Thanks alot for stopping in and cheering me on! I really need that. My mom called this morning and asked how much did I lose this week. When I told her that I hadn't lost any this week, she wondered if I wasn't eating too much. She asked me if I was eating bigger portions than I should! I told her that I am staying op and she needed to read the book!!! I think that she doesn't understand when she asks these kinds of questions along with those comments, I feel down and so discouraged. By the way, she has always been small. Oh well! Tomorrow is another day!:sunny:

Today wasn't my best day, but I did stay op. My menu was:

water

breakfast- eggs florentine, 2 slices canadian bacon, 6 oz. tomato juice, decaf

snack- 16 mixed nuts, water

lunch- 3/4 of a turkey/lf moz. cheese wrap, water

snack- peanut cluster bar(1 g sugar), decaf

supper- salad(spring mix) with sauteed chicken and vinegar & oil dressing. I really enjoyed this!, water

dessert- sf strawberry/banana jello, decaf

more water

I think that overall I had a pretty good day. I do feel a little guilty for eating the candy. Who knows why?!?! It was op. I think that you could say that I am in between Phase 1 and Phase 2.

Hi Carol!

I'm stopping by to check on you. I see from your countdown timer that you trip is really close. You must be so excited!

I know the scale can be our best friend and worst enemy at the same time. I think the advice to measure is so good. TOM is coming for me and I feel bigger than a house right now. I told DH that last night I actually felt as big as I did before we started SBD.

Anyway, I just wanted to give you some encouragement that the scale is not the only indicator of our progress.

As far as the exercise goes, it could help with the weight loss and I have found even help us out mentally and emotionally. I feel so much better when I work out which is probably one of the biggest reasons I work out everyday.

Have a great day and a great trip! :)

Carol,

I totally agree with Lisa about the working out being good mentally and emotionally as well. Really it helps boost me all day. When I get tired (today) I push myself and exercise anyway. It really does make you feel better I promise. Please don't try to be discouraged. I know that scale can be either a friend or enemy. Try not to let it get you down. You really have lost at a very fast rate!:D

  Carol,

I'm sorry that you are feeling so frustrated today. I think that measuring can be a huge incentive. I had a month where I only lost 5 pounds, but I lost 7 inches. You are doing a great job of staying OP. The scale will move again I promise.

As for what your Mom said. We both know that she didn't mean to hurt you. People who never had to diet don't realize how this is a minute to minute struggle for us. I know because my sister is a size 4, and she is 6 months pregnant. My suggestion is that you talk to your mom. Tell her that you know she was trying to be supportive, but that you were upset. She wants to help you, but she has no frame of reference. If she wants to help, give her the book to read.

Have a good night,
Beth

Tracy...I still can't believe that I only have a little over a week and we will be on our way!!!:teeth:

Lisa...thanks for the advice and encouragement. I am excited about my trip, but a little worried still. I will enjoy eating different foods and have even looked at the menus. There are many items that I can eat and be op. As I have told you before, I do plan to eat some things that are not op, but will stay op as much as I can. I know that I have to go back to Phase 1 when I return. Maybe, since I have a plan, it will be easier to get back op. I know what your plan is when you go on your trip and totally understand your reasons.:sunny:

wilderness...I have always exercised while dieting, until now. As I have been saying over and over, I need to make exercise a priority! BAD! BAD! Scale! Thank you for always stopping by and helping me to think positive! :D

Beth...I think that I will find my tape measure and write down those numbers! At least this way I will have something to lift my spirits when the scale brings me down!!! I know that my mom does love me and she worries about my health. My main concern with her comments is that they brought me down. I need to be positive. This is the reason that I love when you post to my journal! Doing so makes me feel encouraged and know that I can do it! Thanks!:sunny:

Carol,

Your day sounded great. Good for you.:Pinkbounc Really I have come to like my tape measure, especially on the days I resent that evil scale.:smooth: Seeing the numbers go down on the tape measure are such a big boost. The numbers on my tape measure are going down ALOT faster than the numbers on that darn scale. Try it and you'll see. :D

Carol, I'm sending a  for you! Please try not to let that scale get you down! It's been proven that when we eat low-carb or moderate-carb (South Beach) that when the scale is moving you don't lose many inches. Then the inches start melting away but the scale stays still. You're normal and you're probably losing inches, sweetie! Go try on some clothes that were tight! Take those measurements!

Your cruise sounds so wonderful! I have kids who are 14 and 16 so I'll be interested in how your older kids like the cruise. Have you started packing yet??

Hope you have a great weekend!! :sunny:

Good morning Carol!
I hope that you had a fabulous birthday! Pretty soon you'll be in Disney! Woohoo!:teeth: :Pinkbounc Have a wonderful Sunday!!

wilderness...I still haven't got out that tape measure! I only less than two days and it will be weigh-in time again! I do hope there are better results this week! Thanks for the encouragement!:D

Doreen...It's funny that you mention that about losing inches when the scale stays the same. I did try on some clothes today and there was a difference!:Pinkbounc A couple of weeks ago, they were tighter and did not look good enough for me to wear. I was stressing about what to wear while on vacation. I can now wear everything that I thought I would not be able to!:teeth: I spent the afternoon ironing and packing and I am not through!:smooth: Thanks for the advice!:sunny:

Tracy...I did have a great birthday! My DH and DC made it a very special day for me.princess: I am getting even more excited as the days go by! I love WDW!::yes::

Beth...Thanks for that birthday song!:teeth: Time sure has flown since we first started planning our vacation! I cannot believe that it is almost here!!!::MinnieMo

I am not planning to post my menus until after I return from my trip on June 4. I have so much to do and so little time! This is also the last week of school for my 4DC, so I will be very busy. I have done fine with my water and food this weekend. My DH made me something out of my SB cookbook for my birthday and it was YUCK! What's so funny is that the same recipe was featured in today's SB Daily Dish that I receive by email!
