From the Carnival Website:

The brand new 88,000 ton Carnival Pride which just started cruising the Caribbean from Port Canaveral will be replaced by Carnival Cruise Lines’ new 110,000-ton Carnival Glory and become the largest cruise ship based at Port Canaveral, Fla., when it begins year-round seven-day Caribbean service from that port July 19, 2003.

Currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the 2,974-passenger Carnival Glory represents a 40 percent capacity increase over the 2,124-passenger Carnival Pride, which debuted the line’s first seven-day cruise schedule from Port Canaveral earlier this year. Carnival Pride will be redeployed to another homeport.

Among the largest passenger vessels ever constructed, the 952-foot-long Carnival Glory will provide an exciting new cruise option from Port Canaveral, with 14 passenger decks housing 22 bars and lounges, a 15,000-square-foot health club, four swimming pools and three restaurants, including an upscale "steakhouse-style" supper club serving U.S.D.A. prime beef and other gourmet cuisine.

I have been on the Wonder and Magic as well as the Carnival Spirit (identical to the Pride). All are equally nice. This will certainly keep the pressure on Disney to keep prices competitive.

Now if only Royal Caribbean will locate a Voyager class ship in Port Canaveral!
