Has anyone done the Carnival cruise to Cozumel? I believe our ship is the Triumph . We are doing the 4 day during Thanksgiving. Hows the kids club on there? My little ones are 7 and 9. What activities are fin on there? We will be doing dolphin swimming when we get to Cozumel. How was your overall experience?

I would love to hear about your cruise when you get back. The cruises are fairly cheap and convenient for us on the Triumph, but I am a little wary of that ship.

Have you cruised before?
The Carnival Triumph is older but fine for a short cruise. It was the infamous one that was adrift but has not had any problems since then.
I have heard that the kid's clubs are very good. Of course it depends on the children.
Warning: short cruises over weekends or holidays may have a party atmosphere and lots of kids.
I have never had a problem but we always take 7 day cruises.
Have fun!

I have not been on a cruise in about 15 years. I was in high school when we went. Hubby has never been on one...thats why we wanted the short one...

You have to learn to keep up , they keep changing so much on the ships. Menus, Ala cart items they charge for , different packages for drinks. I need to go and get on the ball.

In 2012, we cruised on the Carnival Legend to Cozumel, along w/ 3 other ports. This fall 2015 we will be on the Elation back to Cozumel & Progresso. We did the submarine excursion in 2012. It was okay. I wouldn't do it again. We did enjoy the marketplace & walking around the port. My kids, ages 10 & 13 at the time of our 2012 cruise, really enjoyed the kids/teen clubs & met some fun friends for the cruise. We all enjoyed the professional photos that Carnival takes on formal/semi-formal nights & the fun ones on the more casual nights- have some $$ in the budget to buy some! The kids also like trying new & different foods (alligator & escarot) in the main dining room AND THE ICE CREAM available 24 hrs a day! We really fell in love w/ cruising & my kids actually have choosen a cruise :sail:over WDW:earseek:

BTW, in 2014, we took a 5 night Disney cruise to the Bahamas. It was great too. Their kids clubs are superb! BUT for us, the departure port options, ports of call & price, we went back to Carnival for this fall.
I also agrees with the above poster - i use cruisecritic.com exclusively for all my cruising questions. It's a very similar feel to the DisBoards. :chat:

We were on the Triumph this past January and have been to Cozumel three times. As the PP said, cruisecritic has all the info you could possibly want. With ages of your kids, you would probably want to do an all inclusive beach day in Cozumel. I hear nothing but good things about Camp Carnival and when my younger girls were smaller, they loved it. I love cruising, in fact, DD24 is getting married on the Carnival Dream out of New Orleans this Xmas!! Can't wait!

I agree. Those short cruises are basically party cruises with tons of drinking and late night partying. Also would stay away from that ship since its famous for breaking down in the middle of the gulf. Don't care how much work was done to it.

We are taking our first cruise next year - Breeze out of Galveston. I have found Cruise Critic to be amazing. Spending much more time there than here, lately. WDW is kind of in my rear view mirror these days...

We did this exact same itinerary when my kids were about that age, but we were on the Inspiration (one of Carnival's older ships at the time). We had a great time. It wasn't a party atmosphere at all. Lots of families and kids. My kids had a great time at Camp Carnival. We went to Chankanaab Park (sp.) for the day. Did the Sea Lion swim, the helmet dive, some snorkeling and just enjoyed the park. We booked through Sherry at Cozumel Insider (www.cozumelinsider.com). We were in port until midnight so we also booked the night time snorkel excursion through her.

Have a great trip.

We went to Cozumel on the Conquest last year and loved it. DD really enjoyed the kids club - she just went for a couple of activities that interested her - they had tons of activities throughout the day. In Cozumel we hired a driver https://www.facebook.com/pages/Black-Hat-Cozumel/113171112203973?fref=ts. He (Crescencio is his name) took us all around the island and he had suggestions on where to shop/eat/beaches etc that were not super touristy places. He was very polite and professional.

We have been on 3 Carnival cruises and had a blast. We have sailed on Princess and we like it on that line much more. But it is also in a port where we can take the train. Only a few hours on the train and we are there.
Triumph is an older ship, but they are all getting older. Just enjoy your cruise. Do as much or as little as you want.

The Triumph is my favorite! She's a gorgeous ship and the staff is amazing!!!
We only do 5 day cruises and have never experienced it being a party cruise.
I agree with the posted who recommended an all inclusive day in Cozumel, those are great!
Definitely check out Cruise Critic, it's got great info!

I did that exact same cruise. Triumph for 4 days with Cozumel being our port. Honestly, it wasn't the best cruise. I did feel like it was a party atmosphere and I think I just prefer a larger ship. Now, that didn't keep me from cruising again and I'd cruise on her again if the price were right. I just prefer to get settled in to a longer cruise (7+ days) on a larger ship. The Dream being my favorite so far!

The kids club is great! No complaints there! My kids only went for a little while so I don't have anything to say about the activities, but they got anxious so we came to get them. The staff handled it wonderfully.
