Carnival bans bringing bottled water and soda onboard.

Shampoo is not anti bacterial like most washing up liquids. Washing up liquid is designed so that you cant taste it, if you use shampoo make sure you rinse it really well so that you can't taste it. But practices like that can spread bacteria.

All the dish detergent sold in my local stores most certainly tastes like soap:confused3. However, you are mis-informed about antibacterial soaps and the spread of germs. The over-use (or mis-use) of antibacterial soaps creates super-bugs, not the use of non-antibacterial products. To fully activate the antibacterial components of the soap, it must be on the surface for at least 2 minutes (dishes, hands, whatever you are washing). Very, very few of us will do that on a regular basis, which then allows the germs to build resistance to antibacterials. While I don't rely on it, in a pinch I've used hotel shampoo to clean many different things (hair, bodies, clothing, tables, dishes ...) and yes it does need to be rinsed well; soap is soap, it's the other ingredients that make each different.

How do you wash the refillable bottle/cup? I'm not being a smart aleck (honest!), but am genuinely curious. Do you bring dish soap from home and wash it in the sink in your room?

We travel on most vacations (cruise or otherwise) with a small travel-sized bottle of dish detergent. There are also pre-soaped papertowels on the market now, or I've heard of people who create their own and put them in a zipper baggie. We clean refillable bottles in our stateroom or hotel room each evening. But we are regular users of refillable waterbottles around here as well so it's not particularly different for us to rinse and clean them each evening.

Enjoy your cruise!

I wouldn't mind if DCL (and the other lines) sold cases of water for $15-$20 that I can buy at Publix for $3.99 on the way to the port...but they have to give more options than that nasty Evian. I'm guessing Evain must have some kind of exclusivity clause in the contract.

Spell Evian backwards and you describe the people who pay through the nose for it. If Carnival can sell water cheaply, why can't DCL? Jus sayin

I never use anti-bacterial dishwashing liquid at home - its efficacy is overhyped and not generally necessary if you have overall good hygienic practices in your kitchen. I use the shower gel to wash my bottle. You always need to rinse anything well if you use any kind of detergent or it will leave a not-to-yummy tasting residue whether you wash it in your

It's still expensive but DCL now has Dasani on board.

Do they offer it by the case/as a package like they do the Evian? Ot just individual bottles?

Yes, you can pre-order it just like you used to be able to with the Evian. And it's the same price as the Evian used to be - $9 for 6 or $35 for 24. Personally, I wish they'd stuck with the Evian.

Dasani is disgusting. And check out the additives on the label. People with hypertension and/or heart disease should not drink more than small amounts of Dasani water. I have a coworker that was trying to push water intake and at work we have Dasani. She consumed several bottles in a day and felt "funny' that night. She is young but has a heart condition. When she told her cardiologist he said she should definitely avoid this brand of bottled water going forward.

Dasani is my very least favorite bottled water. If that's all they're selling, I won't be buying.
