Carlos Bakery???

I went on a Monday in June shortly after the show had started airing. There were 3 fans there at first and then they left and I was the only one there. I drive by every weekday at around 8:30am and there is never any line.

What time were you there? I drove by at around 12:50p and glanced to see if I could see you there since I thought today was the day you were going (I'm not a stalker, I swear ). I didn't get too much of a good look though. But it was right around then that it stated to pour. Wonder if I just missed seeing you. I went and got my hair done, had lunch and made it to the bakery at around 3pm.

I am not sure if they sell lobster tails on weekdays. I thought I had read somewhere they only had them on weekends, but maybe that has changed. Definitely get some cookies. They had some large fruit tortes for sale that looked so delicious.

Must've missed you by only a little while! We had just gotten back on the Turnpike (actually at this particular point we were still on 78) when my sister called, and I noticed that it was 3pm and my GPS was telling me that we'd be arriving at her house at 3:48pm... so that means we were in front of the Bakery at around 2:40pm, give or take a few minutes. lol Hopefully Monday will work out better for us.


P.S. Regarding how Buddy pronounces "fondant", I've heard other competitors on the Food Network Challenges pronounce it the same exact way. It sounds like a French word, and I wonder if one of the pronunciations is more authentic than the other?

They really make the cutest cupcakes at Carlos. I can't BELIEVE the crowds since that show got big! Used to be able to wander into that place for a cup of coffee with the local guys!

I know! I was just saying this to my DBF this past weekend. I remember when there was almost no one in there on the weekends and we could pop in for coffee and sit on a bench across the street and just chat without the crazy crowds. And it wasn't that long ago!!

'Boss' hosts Make-A-Wish kids

HOBOKEN - Ten children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey got the chance to hang out with "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro and New York Liberty basketball player Sidney Spencer at Valastro's own Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken yesterday afternoon.

The children helped to decorate a one-of-a-kind cake featuring the logos of local sports teams and even learned some tricks of the baking trade from Valastro.

"You can see on the faces of the kids and parents that everyone's having a wonderful time," said Thomas Weatherall, president of Make-A-Wish New Jersey.

"I had fun!" said Laura Ceras, 12, between bites of vanilla cupcake. She said she is a fan of the "Cake Boss" television show.

"When we hear about special things like this, we say, 'Of course!'" said Mary Valastro, Buddy's mother. "We're privileged."

Carlo's Bakery is featured on TLC's extremely popular reality show "Cake Boss."

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Make-A-Wish is partnering with the Garden of Dreams Foundation for this event. Garden of Dreams is a nonprofit charity that works closely with teams like the New York Knicks, Rangers and Liberty from Madison Square Garden.
