Caring for giants tour

When are you thinking of doing it?

When we did it last June we booked the 10:30am slot so it wouldn’t be as hot and so there’d be less chance of it being rained off. I’d definitely recommend doing it earlier in the day tbh but I guess it depends on your touring style. It’s a really good tour btw We had a great time and saw all the elephants including Baby Stella at that time.

We just did it as a last minute decision (literally last minute - we walked up and asked if they had any room and a tour was leaving right then. They didn't even have us pay first because they were about to walk backstage). It was the 3pm tour, and we lucked out so much. One of the elephants trumpeted about something, and they all came walking in a line by us to check out what was going on. We were able to get some great pictures. I will say, even though it was January and not hot by any means, part of the area was all in sun and it was hot listening to the keeper talk about the elephants. We kept trying to move to shaded areas to cool down. So if you have a morning open to do it, I would choose that.

We did this in Nov., and had booked the day before due to not being able to get through on hold several times the week before - could only get 9:30 am or 4:30 pm(FoP FP time so clearly not giving that up!), went with 9:30 even though it wasn't our first choice with other plans. When we checked in I asked if they might have early afternoon opening(only 2 of us) - she had 1:30, and said this was actually one of the best times for viewing many elephants. She was right, at least on that day! We saw the matriarch, baby, one with short tusks w/same name as our dog(Luna), and several more - I took soooo many pics - couldn't stop snapping! Conservation talk was really interesting and keeper was happy to answer questions about her background for DD who wants to be a vet. Bonus that tour cost all went to conservation fund!

We did the first tour of the morning last July. I think everyone was at FOP or on Safari. We were the only ones on the tour and it was wonderful!

I just booked this for 9:30 for my second AK day on my upcoming trip! :) The CM I spoke with said she had most times open - I told her the times I didn't want because of my Flight of Passage FP+ timing and she laughed and said "I don't blame you one bit on that one!" I'm excited!!

We just did this in Jan 2018 and LOVED it. Was just the 4 of us in our family and an older couple. It takes about an hour total and was amazing to spend time with the driver, the animal professional and the rep from Africa

We saw the baby, the 6 year old male that is about to be kicked out.. (they tell you why), the lead female and a bunch others. We got lucky and had some great interactions with the lead female and she was into this hole the baby dug and was filling it in

Picture of my son wearing the collar the female wore to record her sounds
