I began planning our 2010 Half Marathon trip today and called Disney to see if I could book a room, since the online travel planner only allows bookings to 12/31.

I couldn't wait, I'm so excited to go back. :lovestruc

After looking online I really like CBR and booked a quiet area of CBR, Trinidad South Building 35. It's only hubby and me so I thought something romantic would be nice.

Does anyone have any pictures of the different islands? I would love to see how they are different or what makes them special.

Has anyone stayed in the Trinidad area? Bld 35??

Thanks!

We are hoping to go in Jan. 2010 and stay at CBR also....I think it really looks sooooo nice!! Can't wait to hear what people have to say about it!!! Have a great trip!!

We LOVE CBR...it's totally our favourite resort.
We stayed in Trinidad north building 31 I think it was and it was lovely....we have also stayed over the bridge in aruba building 51 I think....both were great but I loved trinidad north. Trinidad south is far from the main building and main pool and across a road at the back...it's a hike for drinks or anything and quiet back there.
I think next time I would pick trinidad north again but maybe building 32 to be closer to the laundry.
We also Loved Port Orleans too....you can use french quarter pool and facilities also and I loved the boat to downtown disney that was great.
Don't recommend CSR at all.
enjoy

thanks Mollyseven, so when you say it's a long walk... Do you really mean a hike to Trinidad South?

Would the distance take away from the experience? Do you have any pictures of the buildings?
Thanks!

There are some great CBR experts on here and I'm sure they will chime in! What I understand is that TS is a 7 minute walk from OPR (the main pool and food court). TS has a quiet pool of it's own and a beach. I BELIEVE that all the room in TS are now Pirate rooms, but I may be wrong about that!!!

We are staying in TS in 16 days and are SO EXCITED!!!!!! I will certainly post when we return!

Have a fab trip:wizard:

these are good maps of the properties

this is cbr:

I mean nothing is really a "hike" when you consider how much you walk in a day at disney but it's far when you're thinking of a quick trip to the food court for drinks or something like that. It's nice that it is more remote and probably less kids out there for an adult holiday though. I would say building
35 overlooking the water would be nice.
CBR is like being in the islands though I really love it there.

Trinidad South is now where the Pirate Themed rooms are located, so I'm not so sure about the romantic stuff, but it should be fun.

I don't know what you mean by saying you "booked" a specific building. I hope you mean you REQUESTED a certain building. Because at CBR, it is 100% impossible to reserve a specific building. CBR has only 6 booking categories: standard, preferred location, water view, king size bed, Pirate standard and Pirate water view. Each of these 6 categories can be reserved, paid for and guaranteed. NOTHING else can be guaranteed.

Also, did you reserve and pay for a Pirate theme room? All of Trinidad South is now Pirate theme rooms. These rooms cost extra per night as compared with standard rooms.

As far as the other 5 villages, the only things that make ne different from another is the exterior color scheme and the distance to Old Port Royale. Otherwise, if you close the curtains, you could put the resort's general manager inside a room and he/she would have NO WAY of knowing which village he/she is in, let alone which specific building.

Unless a certain color of the building's exterior puts you in a romantic mood, I can't imagine that one village is a more romantic spot than another.

If a king size bed is your idea of romantic, then I'd strongly suggest paying extra for and reserving that room category. There is no such thing as a Pirate room with a king size bed, however, so you wouldn't be able to stay in a Pirate/Trinidad South room if you book a king size bed room. Other than "not in Trinidad South," the king size bed rooms are NOT in any particluar location, but rather are randomly sprinkled throughout the resort.

I won't be going to CBR till May 1st for ten days. We love Jamaica. It will be our second stay there. Our first stay was in Aruba, and it was equally pretty, but our location in Jamaica seemed closer to the bridge to Old Port Royale. We love the walk across the bridge through Carribean Cay. It gives us time to talk about our day. I'll have to see if I have any pictures on my computer of our last visit, but that was sept./oct. 2006. The new main pool had not been even started then.
I am sure you will have a lovely time together no matter where you stay there.
have fun,
donna

I was wondering the same thing. A building request is just that a request, never guaranteed. For that matter, if I was wanting a romantic building, I don't think I'd even request a building in Trinidad South. That's where all the pirate rooms are and not only will you not get a king size bed, but you will get all those kids, whose parents booked the pirate rooms for them.:rotfl:

Thanks Everyone,

I didn't realize all the rooms were pirate themed! I called yesterday and the guy said those rooms faced the water and were a bit away from the noisy main pool. He didn't mention pirates!! pirate:

I may need to reconsider, but anyway I'm still excited about CBR!! And a trip to Disney!

If you are looking for quiet and romantic I'm not sure what you requested will give you that as those rooms are now pirate rooms and I imagine will mostly be booked with families with young children.

Hmm ... the person you spoke with doesn't really know CBR too well.

There are no rooms anywhere near the resort's main pool. There's not a room in the resort where you'd hear noise from the main pool.

There's also no such thing as a building that has ALL of its rooms facing water. Each numbered building is actually comprised of four smaller buildings. Each of those smaller buildings is square, with guest rooms on all 4 sides. As a result, there can't possibly be a building that has all its rooms as water view rooms. In addition, "water view" is a separate booking category that must be reserved and paid for.

Yeh, and the fact that he didn't know about CBR's Pirate rooms in Trinidad SOuth is just another dead giveaway that he knows way too little about CBR.

The GOOD NEWS is that you can come here to the DIS and get every single question answered correctly!!! No question is too small or too non-sensical. There are LOTS of people here who know lots and lots about CBR. We all happy to help!

Where is a good room location to request that's not a Preferred location? We're trying CBR for the first time... just me & DH, no kids so no pirate room thanks. hahaha

That's correct. Couple weeks ago, we stayed at CBR in bldg. 38, the first, I believe to be converted to the Pirates theme. While the kids loved it, I wouldn't consider it romantic by any stretch of the imagination. The water view was very nice and it was very quiet, which was surprising seeing that they were working on the Pirate conversion on bldg. 37 while we were there. The walk to the main pool was minimal, about a 5 minute stroll.

I think Barbados might be the best section for you to request-- Like the other posters said, I'm not sure if the pirate rooms in Trinidad South would be "romantic." Barbados is far enough from everything where I would guess it would feel kind of quiet. Maybe try that?

You made me laugh out loud. Thanks for your help and advise!!

We are staying at CBR in Sept for the first time. We paid for a King room, since it will be our 37th wedding celebration. I did make a request for Jamaica or Aruba. I really don't care where we are as long as I get the King bed. I can't wait. I am looking sooo forward to it.
