Caribbean Beach Room Location Requests

I have a long weekend booked at Caribbean Beach the end of January. I wasn't going to use the Disney site to do a room request as I am going to fax in a request for Jamaica using TP. However, just on the Disney site to button it all up and I thought I would just check to see what the options are being offered. Why is Martinique Village listed as a room request for a standard view? Do they really have standard views available in Martinique? If so what are the room numbers? Or is this just an option they throw out there to let you feel like you have an option but really don't?room request.png

Because the room request section of MDE has been broken for a couple years now and should not be used. Heck, last year they had options of "close to elevator" for CBR. There are NO elevators at CBR. The best option for room requests is still calling and having them added to your reservation.

They do not. Martinique has Preferred, King and Water View rooms only.

Or is this just an option they throw out there to let you feel like you have an option but really don't?

No, it's there because the folks that enter the options do not know the actual resorts at all. By selecting Martinique with a Standard View Room booked you are wasting a request.

I'm trying to think of a good way to phrase this. The choices you see in online check-in aren't really your options for requests. They're just generic suggestions of things that guests might request at that resort. They have no connection to your reservation.

In other words, the online check in software isn't sophisticated enough to say oh, Apopper74 is staying in a standard view room in Jamaica, so we'll show her all the possible requests she could make for the room she's staying in. It's just a random list that some IT person plugged in for CBR.

Put another way, Disney doesn't restrict you to a group of possible choices when you make requests. Call the reservation line, and you can request whatever you'd like.

This was a much better way to phrase this. Thanks @Lynne M!

Thank you, @dansdad. I've had a really tiring week and I'm not sure I'm making sense. :)

You made a good point - the requests are so generic that some don't even apply to the resort. The programmer in me is tempted to think that they loaded a bunch of junk data for testing purposes and never bothered to clean it up.

I wish Disney would either do online requests the right way (show requests that are appropriate to the resort and room type the guests reserved), or get rid of the option altogether. it's been worse than useless since the day they added it.

Seems to me that the “Programmer “ in you is absolutely correct

I didnt make any requests online and was given Martinique Building 25 at check in. FANTASTIC location.
