:earseek: I'm going to WDW end of May will be staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort for the first time. Can anyone give me any ideas or pointers on do's and do nots for this property?

it is a beautiful resort, Have you requested any certain building? There is a lot of information on this board on the CBr, try a search. Don't forget swimmies for any little ones. Is there something specific you are interested in knowing, I will try to answer.

It is an awesome resort. I like the atmosphere. Very quiet and beautiful. We saw many turtles in the lake. What would you like to know about it?

CBR Do's:

1. Request an area close to Old Port Royale: Martinique 25, Jamaica 45 or Trinidad North 31 (smoking) or 32.

2. Take time to explore the resort, it really is so pretty

3. Watch the Epcot fireworks from the bench in front of Trinidad North 32.

4. Feed the ducks, fish and turtles. (there are food dispensers along the lake)

5. Take advantage of the quiet pools at night. It is so relaxing and helps loosen up tight muscles from walking.

6. Buy the refillable mugs.

7. Look closely in the shrubbery for lizards and bunnies!

DONT:

1. Don't get stuck in Trinidad South. Argue your way out if you have to!

2. Go barefoot. The cement gets VERY HOT and people burn their feet!

CBR is great
:D :D :D :D :D

Have a wonderful trip!

Do not forget to take your room key with you when you go to the pool. It took approx an hour from when we finally got through on the pool phone to when someone showed up at our door to let us in.

If you have kids, be sure to check out the slide at the main pool. There is also a kids play area near the bridge, on the opposite side as Old Port Royale.

If you plan on doing laundry, make sure to take lots of quarters, or save then throughout the day. It is $2 to wash and $2 to dry each load and some driers will not dry all your clothes the first time.

If you plan on renting any of the boats, etc check into it the first day you get there, as they have limited hours on this.

Make time to hang out in a hammock on the sandy beach.

They do have coffee makers in the room, but there is a charge if you use the packets of coffee that are in the room. Also, for the rain ponchos and mugs in the room. If you don't want to purchase them be sure to put them where kids won't get to them. (if you have kids)

Definitely walk over to Parrot Cay (island in between Old Port Royale and Jamaica). It has a kids playground but also has very nice piped in caribbean music. It is a very nice little walk. We stayed in Jamaica and loved walking over it daily to go to OPR.

Agree with Ted and Holly!!!
Plus I will add:
Spend some time just relaxing in the hammocks.
If you have kids, bring a few sand toys from home for them to use.
Try to use the food court at off peak hours, it can get crowded and you have to pay at each of the places. So see if you can all plan the same type of meal. Or you will be waiting in different lines to pay in each one.
Definitely get the refillable mugs.
Rent one of the boats!! It is really alot of fun and this in one of the bigger lakes at the resorts!

Agree again about Trinadad South....unless you want to be secluded and WAY away from the food court!

ps....forgot to say, we have stayed there twice and are going back in just 2 weeks!!! :D :D
Let us know how your stay was!!
Have a great trip:D

Here's one more "Do": Take a look at my web sites! :D

You can see the fireworks at Epcot from the patio area at the pool bar "Banana Cabana", and also from the beach at Martinique! (I HIGHLY recommend Martinique 25 as the perfect location!) :)

I LOVE CBR and have some pictures and other info on my sites!

One word about Trinidad South: This area of the resort, in my opinion, looks as if it's not even a part of the same resort! There's an actual ROAD that runs between Trinidad South and the rest of the resort. I see NO advantage to staying there. If you want to be FAR from the food court/main pool, there are much nicer buildings, while still feeling like you're on CBR grounds!

You will have an awesome time at CBR!!!! :)

We enjoyed the CBR also. We were in Martinique 25. CM said you must have made your reservations a year in advance to get this building. I said no, made them in May...went in September. Made a request a day or two before we went and received what I asked for. The only thing I would change would be a room on the bottom floor (There are two floors to every building). I thought a balcony view would be nice but the balcony is outside the room not private and after a long day at the parks you don't have to climb the stairs to the second level (no elevators).

We'll be there too (6/22 - 6/27). I agree with what everyone says. I plan on hitting the parks hard... but CBR is a great place to come back and relax at. Just remember it's a vacation so enjoy yourself!!

We'll be at CBR soon.....

Counting down the days!

Just got back a few weeks ago. This place is really nice! We were in TN 33 and I thought it was far from the main pool. I would look at the map and try to get as close as you can. I also liked being on the first floor, so you might want to request that if you don't care for the stairs.

The rooms are huge and gorgeous! Lots of storage space and places to hang up your fanny packs, etc. I loved the ASMo and had more "fun" there, but CBR was more relaxing. Definitely worth the $84 we paid! Also, the covered bus stops we really nice!

When I made my ressie I requested Martinique 25 or 26 or Trinidad 32. Are these good? Should I call back a few days before and request again or what about faxing?? and if so does anyone know the #. Last time we stayed at CSR and when I made the ressie I requested Castitas 4 and got it do you think I was just lucky??

I think putting in your request early helps alot. Also, what I think really helps is if you're able to pre-check in the night before or early(6-7am)on your arrival date; before you go to the parks. I've never had a problem getting the building we've requested using this strategy.
