I have been paying closer attention to which WDW resorts people choose to stay at. Is it my imagiantion, or is The Caribbean Beach Resort not as popular as the other resorts? Just curious! :confused3 :confused3

No there are many fans of CBR. That is what is great about WDW, there are many resorts for all sorts of tastes. I have stayed at many WDW resorts and still CBR is our favorite.

we stayed at CBR in 2000. Although it was beautiful I don't know if I am in that much of a hurry to stay there again. That resort is way too spread out. Internal bus to take you around. I like Pop much better.

We stayed there in 1989 about a year after it opened. At the time, it was the best deal onsite since there were no value resorts and if I'm right, it was either the only or one of two or so moderate resorts at that time. It gave us the ability to stay onsite with our two DS, 3 1/2 and almost 6. We couldn't afford GF or Poly. The Swan and Dolphin were being built at the time and I remember thinking how weird they looked with the figures on top. We enjoyed CBR, but the rooms were small compared to SOG where we've stayed since. I've seen posts from others who love it. Some say it's too large and spread out.

Its funny because we've always stayed deluxe, usually GF. After a disasterous stay (mousekeeping issues) this year DH went looking to see what we could change to next year. Of course the POly is in consideration but DH fell in love with CBR when we went over there, much more so that POR (although I liked POR as well). Maybe it's jus the "beachy" feeling but we're looking into booking two rooms at CBR next July as opposed to one room at a deluxe, especially if in-laws come for part for the trip. Each person has different likes and dislikes and luckily it seems as it WDW resorts have something for everyone.

I have never understood why the CBR often gets a "bad rap" with posters. I have stayed there twice and loved it both times. Once in Martinique and once across the bridge in Aruba. The rooms were plenty big, loved the casual " tropical feel" to the place and the food court was very good.

Drawbacks, well all resorts hav them. It's not the buses or the size of the resort for me, it's the external entry to the rooms and no main lobby to hang out in.

However, if a moderate :wizard: was my choice because of budget considerations, i would not hesitate to stay at CBR again.

People like CSR because it has amenities the other moderates don't have including a great pool. People like POFQ because it's small and has the boat to DTD.

Those are objective reasons to favor one of those resorts.

People like CBR and POR because they like the theming. Harder to make a case for a resort that's basically based on personal preference.

I stayed at POR and took the boat but didn't think it was that big a deal. The love of the theming at CSR escapes me.

Staying at CBR is great because it has a large lake for water boat activities, you can be secluded by staying in Trinidad South. Believe it or not many prefer to be there. It is like it's own private resort.

I don't have to pay extra to tip in the food court at CBR. The main pool is next to Old Port Royale. It isn't a long walk from the pool to the food court at CBR.

Yes the slide and pool is better at CSR.

I like CBR. Some people say it is spread out but I don't feel that way. CSR is more spread out and so is AKL.

We've stayed at WL and AKL, and we just prefer CBR. The theming is great at the other two as well, but we liked the beach and Caribbean atmosphere more -- plus it's a lot more affordable! From visiting lots of other resorts, and from reading posts here on the DIS, I think all the WDW resorts are great -- it's just a matter of what's best for you, and what's best for someone else!

It was a very nice resort, but, I wasn't too impressed with the food court. I stayed at CBR in 2003, thought it was a LARGE resort, but, after thinking it over, I realized I got around just fine when I was there. :goodvibes Also, I heard they put the refrigerators back, so that would be a great help to me, if I were to get a room far away from the main building. I would do a grocery stop on the way, and get what I need for the fridge. :rolleyes1 I will be staying there in 98 days! :hourglass

I'm a total hotel snob and I loved the CBR and would stay there again. I didn't find anything wrong with the size (stayed in Barbados), bus service or noise.

We have stayed at CBR twice (Jamaica & Aruba) and loved it both times :cheer2: The theming is great, the grounds are beautiful and for us, the spread out feel had its own appeal, as we really enjoyed the walk over the bridge to Parrot Cay Island and on to Old Port Royale to the food court in the mornings. We are going to try other moderates as well, but CBR will definitely be revisited at some point :)

We stayed at CBR in June of 2004. We loved it! It was so peaceful and calm. We also stayed at POP for 1 night and did not relax until we got to CBR. Our girls loved the pool, playing with the ducks, and walking along the lake. Because my parents aren't coming with us this year, we have to go with POR only because we need room for 5. Although I am looking forward to staying there I won't be able to compare it until then. My husband and I stayed at POFQ for a couple of nights in September, although we liked it, we did miss CBR.

CBR is my favorite moderate (I have stayed at POR/POFQ, but not CSR). I love the theming of the resort, the wonderful CM's, all of the activities, and how spread out the resort is.

I think some people are scared away from CBR because of the size of the resort and the 7 bus stops it has (note the stops really add like 5 minutes on to your trip before leaving). One thing that is lacking at CBR is a nicer/slightly bigger theme pool, but it is nice that each village has it's own quiet pool. Some people just don't care for the theming of the resort either. As others have said before different strokes for different folks.

I have a question for those who stayed at CBR. How big is the slide? Since that might be a deciding factor. We are going to take a vote to see where we are staying since no one can agree.

We were going to stay at the Poly or BC, but my mother is coming with us now and my DH would be more comfortable in a room by ourselves and my mom and son would be in another room. Plus we will have some alone time

I was able to find good pictures of the slides at CSR and POR, but was only able to find ane entry picture to the pool for CBR. It looks short.

My son likes the theming of CBR, but is concern about the slide. Seven year olds have such worries :teeth: I like the CBR or CSR. My DH wants POR since we stayed there before and liked it. Mom has no choice since we are paying for it and she is just happy to be going.

I stayed at CBR twice, and I enjoyed it. But as for staying there again, my only hestitation is being placed in Trinidad South again! I got put there on my second trip, and while it was OK, I wasn't too thrilled. I felt like I was "out in the boonies" and away from everything and everybody! It was such a hike to the food court that I started driving my car and taking the bus from Old Port Royale - my feet were sore enough from all the walking around the parks! I wished I could walk to that new Bonnet Creek resort for food, as it looked far closer than the rest of CBR!

I would stay there again, but I would cough up the money for a perferred building, just so I can't be placed again in Trinidad South!!

DH and I stayed at CBR this spring (our first time on site!!!), and loved it. We were in Aruba. It didn't seem like we were too far from anything, but it might have seemed a lot longer if we had kids. :) The hot tub was great to have - if it was much later in the spring, it probably would have been too warm for that anyways. The food court was great to grab something quick to eat. Having a fridge in the room was even better!

We really liked the theming, and the laid back feel to everything.

We'll definitely stay there again. Hopefully soon!

Jen

CBR is a nice resort, and I would recommend it to some people, but imho, I think its not the best moderate. Ive stayed at POFQ and have walked around CSR, and have kept coming back to POFQ. Its a beautifull resort, and the location is fanominal. Disney has so many resorts, that it is hard to select and "premote" a certain one.
