Caribbean Beach Resort ** NEWS & VIEWS **

Lori... keep trying. did you ask for the special team or are you just speaking with a reservationist who answers?

My TA had no problem switching us. I told him what the other "nice" posters on this thread were finding out when they called the special team. He called down there and was able to get me the Poly for $20 more a night than what I was paying for the CBR and even that was a pretty inexpensive Delta Vacation package! First they said there were no rooms for the time period we needed and they would try to free up a room for us, then they called right back and said they were able to get us a room exactly what we needed!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I wound up with a really GREAT vacation package and will shout it out to the world every chance I get!!!! So keep trying!!

Just want to know whether you need to pay more deposit for the new reservation due to an increase on the room rate.

Thanks!

jeank74,

I was told that you didn't have to send any additional money, however, the CM with the relocation team said it would be a good idea just so everything will be squared away when we get there. I think since it is so little I am going to go ahead and do it just to be on the safe side.

When I heard about the CBR refurb, I immediately called the Disney Club line. I am thrilled, because for only $120 more (6 nights), we are now in the Wilderness Lodge. Even my husband, who isn't too thrilled to go (of course, he has never been and will change his mind when he sees the look on our 4 year old daughter's face) is excited about the resort. Yea! Three weeks and counting!

I just got through to the CBR team and got my Nov 10-16 stay transferred to the AKL savannah view for 116.50. Poly was also available as was WL and they also offered the wilderness cabins( I haven't read them offering those on this thread yet). It was a tough choice between the Poly which sounds great, but I think the animals will be so neat.

My original reservation was the 9th through the 16th, but the poly and the AKL (all views) were already sold out on the 9th. I worked out well however as I got a good rate at the HRH and will go to Universal on the weekend which sounds like it will be a busy weekend due to Veterans day and New jersey week.

If you haven't called yet, I would do so as it sounds like rooms are going fast. As the other posters have said, you will have to push to get through the first people, but once you get to the CBR team, the person I talked to was great.(It took me 3 phone calls to get through to the CBR Team-1 due to a CM who had no clue what I was talking about and put me on hold forever, 1 due to a CM who basically told me that they would call me and they weren't taking calls, and the 3rd to a CM who said no problem and quickly connected me to where I needed to be)

jeank74-they did ask for an additional deposit of $22.20 which they took over the phone with my CC.

I spoke with Wellington yeterday and this is what he said they could offer me.
Even swap to any other moderate, or an upgrade to AKL for an additional $30 per night for standard and $40 for Savannah. I asked him about the 10 and 20 upgrades and he said that since I had such a deep discount with the DC package that the upgrade is a little more for me. And the only other resort available for upgrade with package is the garden concierge at the Yacht club (yeah right!)
So it looks like we will be staying at PO. Nor sure if we will stay at the Riverside or FQ yest. I have to call him back in the next day or two to finalize. I might try again to get a better deal somewhere else.

I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about their land/sea package since the CBR closure. I have reservations in a category 8 at CBR. Has anyone gotten upgraded to a category 7 at a deluxe resort? Actually I had my TA make the reservations at the WL, but she says she is still waiting for something to come out about the cruise part. Shouldn't they have heard something by now?

When the castmember started to explain what was happening w/the closure of CBR and relocation of reservations I explained I had some knowledge of it ahead of time and was awaiting her call. She asked where I'd heard and I said The Disboards--"ah yes" she said. So it looks like Disney is figuring CBR will not be open by Dec 1st. We had booked CBR for December 1-9th through Shades of Green so had a terrific rate for a lake-view; she assured me we'd have the same at CSR, the only moderate available. It would have cost $30-50 more a night to upgrade to a deluxe due to our already low rate, so I made the command decision we'd go w/the flow--after all, it's an adventure for us--we've never stayed at CSR and will look forward to it. I mentioned many people were calling their travel agents to chg reservations after hearing of the closure and told her we were trying to be patient knowing Disney would do us well. She was a real sweetie and very happy (I think) that I didn't give her a hard time! 110 days to the happiest place on earth!

We have ressies for CBR Jan 18-25. Do you think it will be open by then. We have stayed at POR and would like to try something different this time. We have visited CSR and really would perfer not to stay there but we will be happy anywhere I'm sure.

Floundering Crab, I think you will absolutely LOVE CSR! We've stayed at both CBR and CSR, and CSR is our very favorite, hands down.

Have a wonderful time!!

Reservationist transferred me immediately to special team, but I gave up after being on hold FOREVER!

I sent a pm to you re: my experience with the whole DC upgrade mess. Hopefully you'll read it before you confirm anything!!

Just want to inform those who have accepted the upgrade offer to a Deluxe resort. Extra room deposit may be required to secure your reservation!!

When my DU agent transfered me to Poly, he was informed by the CBR specialist that no extra deposit is required. However, my DU agent just informed me today that I need to pay extra for my upgrade to Poly. The total deposit required is $220.89, which is the standard per night room charge. The deposit that I made for CBR is not sufficient. I don't mind paying the extra, but I don't know what would happen if my agent didn't check again today.

I don't know what system CMs at Disney follow, but to me it seems that the rule is "the more you pay, the better it is."

Just want to share it with everyone.

We made the switch last week from the CBR to the Poly. At that time, I was told that they would transfer my deposit & we were all set. This morning after reading people say that you had to make an extra deposit, I called back. I was told (after being put on hold for a few minutes) that technically there should be the added deposit - BUT - they would not cancel our reservation if it wasn't made. She said it was up to me what I wanted to do. I made the extra deposit $22.25 - just to be on the safe side!!! This afternoon's mail had our new confirmation sheet in it - it showed our transfered amount & also showed deposit due - $.00!!

Well, I got my call back today. She had saved the room at the poly for us. So we are staying there for only $20 more a night. We are so excited. Michelle

When you say "call back", do you mean the call from the CBR team? What are your dates?

I hope I'm doing this right . Being that I'm new at this board thing and all. I found out last night about CBR closing after sept.8. Liked to had a cow if you know what i mean. I planned 1 year in advance to stay at the CBR for a stay of 13 nights. Sept 14 - 27. Not only did I have that res. but also one for a 6 night stay. Sept 14 -20. So last night i stayed up till 2:30 trying to find out all i could about the other resorts that might be offered. i know the rate is GREAT at the poly and AKL. So you will probable think I'm nuts for getting Port Orleans Riverside and asking for Magnolia Terrace. thats right I couldn't wait I called. the first time i was told that they would call me. Waited a few hours and said to myself what the heck try it again. I did and was put on hold for 25 min.. Lady was very nice and told me about the other mod. resorts. I then asked about any upgrades and was told about AKL $10.00 more a night for standard and $20.00 for other. Didn't even ask about Poly. I know that i have passed up a chance I will probably never have again. but the way i see it is, last year when i was planing this i said to myself wouldn't it be great if i could stay at CBR for 99.00 a night (tax included). And I got that rate. I have only been to disney one time and paid rack rate.So after looking at Poly, Akl, POFQ, and POR I chose POR. I hope I have done the right thing. We will be going to Disney again next year for a 2 week stay at CBRand it should look great .I just hope i can get as good a rate then.

Grinch0040,

No one would think that you are stupid or something to pass down the upgrade to AKL and Poly. To me, a vacation at WDW is a dream, no matter where you stay. Also, when it comes to resort, people have different taste and preferences. I believe you will have a great time at POR. Also Magnolia Terrace is so beautiful and has been requested by many people.

Happy for you!! :p

Welcome to the DIS Grinch! I stayed at Port Orleans in 2000. It's a beautiful resort and I think you made a great decision based on what YOU want for YOUR vacation. Everyone on these boards are appreciative of the upgrades because it's the right choice for US. That said, I'll be there the same time as you Sept 13th-22nd but I took the $10 upgrade to the Wilderness Lodge (Poly wasn't available for my dates). I really wanted to go to AKL (and I'll probably kick myself later) but since I'm traveling w/ members of my family who have NEVER been, for the convenience of the boats and the Electrical Water Pagaent, I took WL. I'll be wearing my lime green ribbons Grinch, hope to see you wearing yours.

Have a great trip!
