Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

Just got back from our lovely stay at CBR from December 10 - 16th. If anyone is worrying about the construction - DON'T!! I was such a worry wort and it was over nothing! The construction area is hidden and we had to walk around it from building #31 in Trinidad North and it didn't bother us at all.

We absolutely LOVED CBR and we'll be returning the year after our Disneymoon. We would stay at CBR for our Disneymoon if they had a King bed or even a Queen in the preferred area location. The rooms are SO QUIET!! It was the most wonderful time!! :woohoo:

The staff was so friendly, it was clean, I couldn't find a bit of chipped paint anywhere!! :lmao: The pool was warm and always hopping, mousekeeping was great, bus service was overall good but it hiccupped at times. I can't emphasize how much of a wonderful experience we had.

Shutters had pretty good food! A little on the salty side but good nonetheless!

I still think that staying in the preferred area location is definitely worth it. We definitely utilized our resort mugs a lot because of the short walk. ;) CBR is truly paradise!!!

Thank you Safetymom - the pictures are exciting...and seeing them make living in this bitter cold a little easier! Can't wait to see the final product!

Are there really only 21 handicapped accessible rooms at CBR? (stated in the opening post) That really seems like a lot lower percentage of the totall rooms than at other resorts. -which in it's turn would imply a better chance of getting on the first available bus and less chance of having to wait for a second bus because of the 2 wheelchair spots allready being taken on the bus-.

I was looking at your pictures of the constuction. Is the bridge to Caribbean Cay still open? I mean can you walk from Aruba and Jamaica over to OPR by the bridge still while the construction is going on? I would like to request Aruba or Jamaica but will reconsider if the bridge to the island and across is going to be closed. Thanks for any help you may offer.

The bridge is still open. On the OPR side it is squeezed in by screens on the one side but you can still use the bridge. I will be updating the photos once they close the main pool.

I know this has probably been asked before, but are there any corner rooms available at CBR? We plan to go either in July or September of this year. Our DD will be around 20 months old. Should we go with a preferred room? Thanks in advance.

Yes there are corner rooms available all over the resort. Not sure when you are going but the main pool will be closed from Jan to Sep 2008. Jamaica or Aruba is nice also if you don't want to pay for preferred. Until the pool is done and they reopen the sidewalk Trinidad North is going to be harder to get to food court. Just keep checking the first post for updates on CBR and the construction.

Safetymom,

Thank you so much. I will continue to check for updates on the construction. :)

Hi- first time to disney- staying at the CR from Jan 18-22 (Hubby's birthday while we are there!) I have a preferred room but I don't fully know what that means for us. My daughter is 7 and will want to swim at some point - so my questions for you veterns are this
Can we expect to swim at all this time of the year
What does the preferred room mean to us (will we know which building we are staying at and if it has a nice pool?)
I notice some people request certain buildings- I don't know enough to know what to ask for!
Will they do anything special for my husband's birthday?

I am sooo excited for our first disney trip- I want everything to be perfect (if possible!) and i hope that any tips will help make it even more special

thanks all

We will be at CBR December 7th-13th and my DH and I will be going with my
2 cousins (16 and 22). We are all "pooh" sized and feel that we would be more comfortable getting 2 rooms. When I call to request adjoining rooms, do I just need to give the two reservation #'s???? I know adjoining rooms are just a request, and we are paying "preferred" so hopefully if we are not in adjoining rooms we might be in the same village!

Does anyone have any advice about this???

Are you wanting adjoining or connecting rooms? Connecting rooms have the door between the rooms.

Ask the CM to do a travel with in each reservation. That will help your chances of getting rooms close to each other.

Oh.....well, I would rather have the connecting rooms. I just worded it the wrong way! I wonder what my chances are of getting them??

Ask the CM to do a what????? I have never heard of that before!

OK I called the CBR today and asked about "birthday" celebrations. They said to mention it at check in and they "might" bring up a card or balloons for my husband. I know my daughter would be thrilled if they made her dad feel special. They said the restraunt might bring a cake too if we asked when we were seated. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I am watching the weather dilligently- we just got 16 inches of snow here yesterday so even 50's will be warmer! However- I am really hoping we can get by with shorts and sweatshirts most days- jeans in the evenings. I have never been to FL in Jan.

Any tips for our first trip would be MUCH appreciated. I have been scouring the boards but I know some of you have been recently and might know something I might be missing

thanks again all

Last year we stayed at the WL and they delivered balloons and pictures to my DDs for their birthdays, so make sure it is on your ressie at the hotel. Also, ask for a birthday button/pin for your DH.

Also, pack your clothes for everything. Today, the temps are really cold, so you would need a coat as well as gloves, forget the pool. Another key is to dress in layers, that will help.

Have a magical trip.
