Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

Flying in that late, I would definately get my own luggage. I don't think they will knock on your door at 3am, I'm just guessing, but I bet they will wait until morning. I wouldn't want to be waiting around in the morning for my luggage.
I feel exactly the opposite.

We packed our carry-ons so that we wouldn't even need our checked luggage until after we returned from our first park day. My plan was to ask at the front desk to have them hold our DME bags 'til morning, but I forgot. Our phone rang at 1:16 a.m., and they asked if we wanted our bags now or later. I said I'd call for them some other time. I called for them at 6:30 a.m. and they got there 5 minutes later.

A more important point for me was that, after landing at the airport so late at night, with 2 small kids and an entire day behind us, I was thrilled with the idea that we didn't need to further delay ourselves by waiting around baggage claim for our bags to show up, and then drag them across to the other side of the airport to get to the DME counter. It was a very nice little perk to get to skip baggage claim at such a late hour and just get directly to our resort without that delay.

Is there anyway to have a birthday cake delivered to our room at CBR? I asked at cake thread but didn't get an answer. They don't mention CBR on the cake hotline.

I don't think so. Last year we celebrated both DDs birthdays and we got both cakes from GF and we picked them up. We stayed at WL and they would not deliver them at all. It was easy to do though, it came wrapped up in a bakers box and tied up.

Uh yes they will. My trip 2005 we used magical express, and got in at 9pm...we got a little knock at the door past midnight! I was just like wha?!?!?! :confused3 cuz everyone was asleep, and I was dragging luggage in the door. I was so afraid the kids would wake up, but they didnt...thank god. We were at POR tho...

This year we land at 11:15am...so Im going with ME cuz I dont care if they dont deliver bags at 3pm...

Well, if you will also need other groceries then I have great news for you. Gooding's (www.goodings.com) is a local supermarket that also delivers. They have their own bakery, and they make personalized birthday cakes and so on. Gooding's has a $50 minimum for delivery, and a $20 delivery fee. But like I said, they have a full-service bakery and they will delivery personalized items from their bakery along with regular groceries and so on. I believe they even have bakery pictures on their website, so check it out!

It's here, it's here, it's FINALLY HERE!!!!:cool1:  :woohoo: :cloud9:

The bags are packed, the kids are in bed, and I'm beside myself with anticipation!!:yay:

If all goes well we'll be in Orlando tomorrow around 12:30, and I can't wait to see CBR for myself! :rotfl:
I'll gladly send my own resort report as soon as we get back!

Bye now!:wizard:

It was great, the hotel was nice , the landscaping was awesome, the room was perfect! We stayed in Martinique right by the bus stop and less than a 2 minute walk from old port royale! We got a preffered room without paying the extra for one due to the fact that we checked in at 7:30 a.m.! We had a great time!

There were quite a few people there but we did not have to wait longer than 10 minutes to get on any rides including Soarin!

It rained almost everyday but for no longer than 5 or 10 minutes at a time so it was a non issue!

The IFWF was pretty cool but we waited in line longer to sample food's than we did to ride ride's!

Oh and Earl of Sandwich rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!pirate:

We haven't stayed at CBR in many years & I'm wondering...

What are your CBR must-dos?
What areas are your least-favorite?
Do you have a most-liked room or Building?
What foods at the food court are yummy?
Which food should we keep away from?
Any Hidden Mickeys that you know about?
Any favorite CMs that we should say hello to for you?
Anything we should know about transportation (what to avoid, etc.?) Even though we'll have a rental car, we know that sometimes taking the bus probably works out better - like when we go to MK and instead of parking take the bus and get let off right next to the entrance.

Any advice/hints/tips gratefully appreciated.

Thanks,
agnes!
PS - We'll have a rental car, so being close to the bus stops not incredibly necessary.

Agnes ~

Must do's for us - head to the pool bar for frozen drinks while the kids nap! (one of goes to the bar and brings them back to the room, we don't leave the kids!)

We eat at the food court for breakfast every day unless we have a character meal. Everything we have had for breakfast is YUMMY!

I liked Aruba - it was 'far away' by some people's standards, but I thought the grounds were prettier than the upgraded area I paid for to be close to the main pool.

We go during a slow time and have never had any problems with the transportation!

Have fun!

What are your CBR must-dos? Both the Main and Quiet Pools, Relaxing on a Hammock, Viewing the high fireworks from Illuminations from the Main Pool Area, Hair Wrap (if you want that), Shopping around in the Gift Shop, or Taking a ride on the Surrey Bikes.
What areas are your least-favorite? Nothing!
Do you have a most-liked room or Building? We do the preferred locations (martinque or trinidad north) but I always love having a first floor room (no elevator - we have a stroller and sleeping kids)
What foods at the food court are yummy? Only eaten breakfast for the most part. We will get late night desserts in the Grab n Go section
Which food should we keep away from? Never eaten at Shutter's because the menu doesn't appeal to us.
Any Hidden Mickeys that you know about? Not sure, sorry
Any favorite CMs that we should say hello to for you? None that I know of

Great choice about taking the bus to MK. No other tips about transportation.

Have a Great Time! We will be there a few days after you leave!

Agnes! -- we love CBR! Here are our answers for you...
Must do's -- hammocks, eat breakfast at a table outside OPR with the steel drum music playing, I love to walk the Promenade around the lake with a refillable mug of coffee
Least favorite -- I'm not sure of any... I don't really like to be at the main pool if it's crowded, but it's not "bad"...
Room/building -- that's hard -- Trinidad North 3128 was great, opening right onto a courtyard with the lake in the background -- the whole resort is beautiful, though.
Food - We liked it all... honestly, the burgers are realllly good, but so is everything.
We didn't look for hidden Mickeys -- and all the CM's were wonderful.
Buses are very efficient - they're frequent and we never wait long.

Have a great time -- check out the photos in the links below if you want!

How does the distance from the non-preferred Martinique to OPR compare to the much-requested Jamaica and Aruba villages? We will be there over Thanksgiving for our first stay since Thanksgiving of '98.
My two oldest sons didn't like the 'tacky colors'. Now that they have moved on and won't be accompanying us,my daughter and I along with DS-7 can indulge ourselves.:)

We've found the walk to be about 5 mins, maybe 6, in room further in the middle of either of those villages. :)

Have a great trip!

DS7 and I are staying at CBR Oct 11-16. This will be my first time staying on-site. I have really enjoyed hearing about all that the resort has to offer. Thanks for the great posts and questions/answers.

About the same. The "advantage" to Aruba and Jamaica is a more picturesque walk since you have to cross the lake.

My family and I will be there from the 11th to the 17th. This is a first for us as well. Hope to run into you!

We have just returned from our stay at CBR and it was wonderful. Check-in was very efficient and took no more than 10 minutes. My most important room requests were granted as we got a first floor room in Jamaica 44. It was right around the corner from the quiet pool which we used most of the time. After downloading my photos I realized that we really didn't take that many at CBR.:sad2: DH did a video tour instead.

We did have a towel ducky waiting in the room:

After returning from the parks one day for a nap we found several more in the window and all the kids stuffed animals arranged on the bed:

Here's a picture that shows how big the rooms are. I was very pleasantly surprised. We had 4 people for 10 nights and never felt crowded. We also called housekeeping every morning to request our room to be done before naptime and they always complied. The room was very clean and everything seemed to be fairly new. The beds were also very comfy.

The walk across the island did not seem long at all and the kids loved playing there:

We did play in the main pool a couple of times and it really wasn't too crowded. I talked to a lifeguard about the rehab and she said they were doing a zero depth entry and adding a bunch of other stuff. But, she also said it would be starting in Jan. and be done by Feb.:confused3 so I wouldn't take what she said to heart.:rotfl2:

We used the food court a couple times for breakfast and dinner and found the service and food to be excellent. All the CM's were knowledgable about the DDP and explained carefully what you could/could not get. CM's in the gift shop were also great. One of them gave my DS and DD pins from his lanyard even.

We saw tons of lizards and birds and one evening when we returned here's what we saw next to our door:

Overall, we absolutely loved our stay. DD wondered why we couldn't just live there.:lmao: If anyone has any specific questions let me know. Also, thanks to safetymom and everyone else who provided info before our trip. It was invaluable.:thumbsup2

pperfectmom, THANKS! What a great collection of photos! You make me want to be there right now, relaxing on a hammock, or walking across the island....:thumbsup2
