Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

I was joking about the getting lost part, did you not see the :rotfl:

I agree about the distance not the getting lost. It is very circular with paths and such and you would never get lost. ...but it is very spread out. We stayed at pop and this year at cbr and cbr is WAYYYY bigger. We stayed in Trinidad North building 31 which was amazing...they upgraded us at no cost at check in...I offered to pay for preferred and they just did it for free. it was magic!!! I'm so glad because the bus pickups were great and we were the closest of any buildings to the main one and the main pool. The entire week there was never anyone in the quiet pool by us...ever,
I would even ask for Jamaica building 45 I think it is directly across the bridge from Port Royale...that is very close also and I don't think it's considered preferred.
So....yes it is a long way from the fartherst building to the main pool and restaurant.....not like going for a quick refill on a drink. I wouldn't let kids go alone like at POP.
:thumbsup2

Catbertdave99: thanks for sharing your photos. We're booked for CBR in November and have requested Jamaica as that is where we were married (the actual country). Just looking at your photos brings me back to our trip to Sandals Ocho Rios - the colors, the flowers, the winding walkways. I'm not trying to rush through spring and summer, but I can't wait for our trip!

You're welcome... wish I was going back again this week!

My friend and I have requested a corner room for our up coming trip this June. Do the corner rooms only have king size beds? We would want 2 beds. We are paying for a preferred location. I think she requested Martinique when she made the reservation. I am hoping for a room opening on a courtyard. I stayed there 7 years ago on my first trip and it was wonderful.

TIA

chirurgeon,

We've been in two different corner rooms (Martinique 2549 - second floor), and Trinidad North 3128 (first floor, opened onto a courtyard). Both rooms had two beds in them -- photos of each room are in the CBR links below. We loved having the courtyard right outside our room!

We just booked CBR for September 2007! I am really excited, I've been wanting to stay here for the past 6 years. I think we are going to request Aurba. With taking a baby, we will probably be turning in early each night and I'd love to get a glimpse of Illuminations from our village.

I called my AAA agent yesterday and told him I wanted to change our ressies from WL and change dates to get the free DDP. He won't be able to do that until Thursday so I'm on pins and needles waiting to see if we get CBR or not. I also requested Jamaica 45 or 44-it seems that is the most requested buildings:rotfl2: . Do you think I'm going to get what I want? Also, a silly question about coffee cups. Are they ceramic? I absolutely loathe drinking out of styrofoam and really don't want to do it for 10 days. I need to know whether to pack a couple along with some good coffee. TIA!

The cups on the rooms are styrofoam as as those in the food court. They have refillable mugs that you can buy for $12 plus change, so you don't have to pay for soda, lemonade, iced tea or coffee. The mugs are plastic commuter types mugs.

Hubby and I headed over to Target last year while at WDW and he bought an inexpensive Disney coffee mug to use at the resort instead of drinking out of the styrofoam cups.

I was thinking of maybe doing something like that except I might splurge and get a nice one in the gift shop. I'd rather have a good mug I could take home than one of the refillable ones. We'll have plenty drinks in our room and none of us really drink soda. Plus we'll be on the DDP and will get a drink with any meal.

We just figured if it got broken on the way home, we wouldn't be quite as upset buying inexpensive at Target vs. the gift shop.

I'll admit, I didn't read all 90-some pages of the FAQ thread, so maybe this has already been answered! Which islands have the little hanging shelf over the sitting bench? I saw on AllEars that Aruba has them and Barbados does not. Any idea which other islands have them? I like having pegs like that to hang my bags and jackets, etc! We're staying at CBR for the first time in September. I'm trying to decide which location to request for my family of three (including a two year old who will be in a stroller). I'm thinking building 45 or 51, first floor right now, but I need to read more before I decide!

Is it best to tell my travel agent my request now or to just ask when I check in?

Also, I remember the air conditioners being loud at POR, are they the same loud A/C's at CBR?

Martinique has them. Just got back from CBR, the airconditioner's were not loud at all!

I just booked a land/sea package and we'll be 4 days at CBR in Aug. 2008. It's a standard room. In general, how far does that mean we'll be from Old Port Royale? Are there multiple bus stops? Thanks. :)

about the pegs and shelf about the deacons bench in the rooms...
We stayed in Trinidad North in January and they HAD the shelf/pegs....We used them ALOT...I just figured every room had them,,,,,funny

DH and I are taking our 5-year old niece 09/22-10/01 and staying at CBR for the first time (with free dining). We've gone to Disney the past two years but stayed at POR both times. My DH loves POR and I had to insist that we try another resort this time. I have to admit that I'm a little anxious about it too, but I've read a lot of good reviews about CBR and hope we enjoy it.

I'm most excited about being able to see the fireworks from Epcot from the beach. Any suggestions for the best location to watch them from?

Well we were there in January and never saw the firework ever...you must have to be way away from the port rolyale ...we stayed in Trinidad North Bldg31.
Make sure you stay in the right spot for that, when we stayed at POP last year we had perfect viewing for epcot fireworks each night and that was lovely.

I am staying at CBR from 5/1-5/8 and requested to be in the Aruba or Jamica buildings (they had no preferred rooms available for my discount code available). Is it faster to catch the internal bus or to walk over the bridge to Port Royale? It's just my 3 year old and I going on this vacation and want the easiest route possible to get to the main pool.
