Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

We have stayed in Jamaica 45, second floor corner room overlooking the lagoon. We loved the location - right across from the end of the footbridge to Old Port Royale, and still close to parking and the bus stop, and also the quiet pool for that village. It was also a very quiet location - we hardly knew anyone else was in the resort.

The Jamaica Section is? I would like to be on the first floor, an end room perhaps Building 45? Anyone stay in this section and can tell me how it is? Thanks!

We stayed in building 45 in Jamaica the week between Christmas and New Years. We had a second floor room. I think it was room 4561. It wasn't an end room or first floor, but I would definately take it again. Towell animals every day! The kids loved it. It was a short walk down the steps and over the bridge to Old Port Royal. The quiet pool was only a few steps away. Great location!

Who answered my question! ;) I will request Jamaica 45 when I make my next payment! :cool1:

safetymom,
My family (wife,5 year old daughter, myself) are planning on a WDW trip second week of June. I wanted to ask you how the Carribean compared to Port Orleans Riverside. Also, ask your opinion if the Wilderness Lodge was worth the extra $500 (for the cheapest room). I know from reading the thread that Martinique is one of the preferred locations, how does one request specific buildings? Sorry for all of the questions.

Welcome! :flower:

I can't compare it to Riverside for you, but I have been to POFQ. The FQ was much more compact. Pretty rooms too.

I think as far as comparing WL and CBR, is like comparing apples to oranges. You need to think about what is important for your vacation before deciding between a deluxe and a mod. Do you need interior corridors? Restaurant in the building? Bigger beds?

If you want a preferred location you can pay an extra $15 a night and get a room in a building closer to OPR. (food court and main pool) Make sure your reservation confirmation papers say preferred location though. I had my own little nightmare with that. If you want a specific building call CRO and have them add the request to your reservation. Hopefully you will get some pixie dust and get your requests met! :wizard:

Martinique is a preferred village location costing $15 extra nightly. If you don't want to pay extra for a preferred location I suggest requesting Martinique or Trinidad North.

I just wanted to say this thread has really helped me.I changed our reservations to CBR today and I think it was the right decision for us. :)

duckman6809, I have stayed at PO Riverside. Basically the difference is the theming. I liked both but prefer CBR. I can't tell you about WL since I haven't stayed there.

You can't go wrong with any of the moderates.

Does anyone know when you can book a room only reservation for June 2007?
Think it will be soon? Or closer to summer months? Even though we arent going to the parks this time around--I love CBR so much I cant go to Orlando and not stay there!!!! Especially the village of Jamaica---just love it!!! Any help is greatly appreciated.. :flower:

I started a different thread about choosing b/w CBR and POR. If I stayed at POR I know where I'd want to be, but not at CBR. Can you guys suggest a location to request. We're celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and this is our first night on property. I don't mind a small walk and would like to be in a quieter section of the resort. Any thoughts?

Any opinions CBR vs POR? I know it's apples and oranges. Just looking for decent food options and quiet atmosphere.

TIA!!!

If you really want to be away from it all ask for Trinidad South. It is like its own resort but it is a walk from the food court and main pool. Lots of people like Jamaica or Aruba. It is a short walk across the bridge. I don't think there are any noisy parts in CBR.

I think the difference is the theming. It all depends what you like. The food court at CBR is better I think than POR. The restaurant at POR is very popular.

Perfect! Thanks, Safetymom!!! :flower3:

I thought I read somewhere in this thread, that CBR has a refrigerator in each room. My passporter says they are complimentary, but you must request one.. which is correct?

All the moderate resorts have fridges in every room every day. No request is needed -- it would be like requesting carpeting.

I LOVE THIS THREAD! Thanks for starting it safetymom! I had a question about room assignments. We booked and paid for a king bed room and requested Martinique. We did not pay for preferred though, so from what I've read, that location is so we're not expecting it. Anyway...my question is can I call and find out about our room assignment? I always call Disney reservations the day before we leave to confirm the reservation, but
I was wondering if it was possible to call CBR before arrival and check on our room and which village we'll be in. Has anyone ever done this before?

They will not tell you until you are receiving your key where you will be located at the resort.

BEFORE you receive your room key, like when they are typing your info and all, ASK where you are located! They will tell you such-in-such room at such-in-such location. If you have the Resort Map with you, (like I do), see where its at, and if you don't like that location, ask for the location you want, and hope they will give it to you. However, if its a PREFERRED location, they will tell you to pay extra if its not noted or already payed for. ;)
