Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

With the Main Pool being close for rehab will Banana Cabana still be open? Also do any of the quiet pools have a baby pool? One more question - will they supply towels at the quiet pools since the Main Pool won't be open?

Thanks!

I would imagine that they will have towels at the two pools that they are installing slides on. I heard one person say that Banana Cabana will be closed also but I haven't heard anything official on that yet. I don't think the quiet pools have a baby pool. I would have to look at the pictures on my website to tell for sure.

Nancy, it's H20.

Just a heads up about the bus; last week when I was there, some of the busses didn't go to Trinidad South when they were pretty packed. That doesn't have to be a problem (mostly where the Epcot and MK bus, which often came in pairs of 2 at the same time or with minutes between) but if you really really really want to make the first bus that hits the resorts when you want to leave, I suggest walking down to Trinidad North. That was also a busy busstop, but at least non of the busses I got on dodged the stop. (mind you though, I got on at OPR most, sometimes at TN and about 3 times at Barbados, so don't know about the busses that skipped OPR and TN all together)

I just returned yesterday from the CBR and thought it was great.
We had a lake view room in Jamaica and would walk to the OPR a couple of times daily. The walk took maybe 5 minutes and was beautiful.
I did not think the resort was in need of renovation. The main pool was great and the CS areas in OPR were adequate for us. We did not eat at shutters so I can't comment about it.
I loved the raised beds to store the luggage under and out of the way. We had myself, DH, DD5, and DD1 with a pack n play and a double stroller in the room and had plenty of space. We had enough drawers to store clothes for 4 people with room to spare. The bath area was fine with the privacy curtain and storage under the sinks.
Mousekeeping was great and left towel animals everyday and would straighten the room for us (which looked like a tornado had come through as we rushed to the parks.)
We did not like the bus system, but fortunately had rented a car (maybe we are just impatient.)
I would definetly recommend this resort to anyone.

Where can my husband pick up a copy of the Orlando Sintenal? (spelling?)
Could we be so lucky to have a copy delivered to our room every day?

We were there two weeks ago:guilty:
We saw newspapers at the bus stops. Not sure what paper though.

I love CBR! I have stayed there several times but this upcoming trip will be my first time with a pack n play. Where did you put it? Did you have to move the table or the bench?

I might be headed to CBR in Feb 08 and just got done reading you original post, thanks for all that hard work!!!:laundy:

I think one would fit best near the door next to the bed, without having to moving anything.

We placed it between the wall where the door is and the first bed. There was enough of a wall there to fit it without it blocking the door. I was going to move the bench but found this to work out perfectly.

The whole menu is listed under Dining at the top of this page, but here's the hours:
Old Port Royale

Hmm, when we were there a few weeks ago, I thought OPR closed at 11 p.m. That's what DH said anyway, as he was the official refillable cup filler-upper at night. :lmao:

Anybody know for sure?

Not sure, but I think it is open till 12am.You won a trip to WDW?
I saw it in your sig!:goodvibes
Lucky you! I am having major withdraws today, can you take me with you?

Can anyone tell me the best way to get from CBR to Ohana at the Poly? We have breakfast there one morning next week, and just trying to figure out the quickest/easiest route. I'm not opposed to paying for a cab, if that will be the quickest/easiest way. TIA!!

You could also take a bus to the Magic Kindgom and hop the monorail over to the Poly.

That's what we always do when not staying at an MK resort:) Bus to MK,then Monorail or water launch - both great and fast :)

Just be sure to allow enough time ...have a wonderful trip! :)

I thought it closed at 11pm too. We were there 8/27-9/2, and DH was a little tweaked that we often did not return to the resort early enough to go for a refill at the end of the day..... As a matter of fact, we had a package delivered from Epcot. A message was left while we were in the parks, and we were on our way out again when we retrieved it. I knew we would be back "earlier" as we had an 8:30 ADR at Sci-Fi. I remember knowing we'd have about an hour to pick up when we got back. DH got off at the OPR stop and we stayed on to Aruba.

We took the bus to MK and transfered to resort monorail. Allow an hour to get from A to B.

I finally have some of my pictures online so I can post them here. We were in Aruba Building 51.

I have another question! All these thoughts keep coming the closer I get to leaving -- only 3 days left!!
Does the pool at OPR have life jackets for toddlers? We stayed at BWV last year, and they did supply them. So we are hoping for the same this year. And along the same lines, does BB or TL provide them for the day as well???
Thanks again for the help!

The DH and I just returned from the Caribbean Beach on Saturday, where we spent 7 wonderful nights.

I have to say that we really loved this resort and had no real problems. Everyone was super friendly, and this is definitely our choice for a moderate hotel without even having stayed at any of the others.
I had reserved a king room for us, and we were there from the 8th-15th.
When we arrived, there was a long line in the Customs House for check-in, but it moved pretty quickly, and we were only in line for 10-15 min. at the most. When we stepped up to the counter, one of the first things that the CM said was, "Welcome!", which was very nice to hear. She handed us our anniversary pins, and told us that we were on the 2nd floor of building 33 in Trinidad North. I asked if she showed us in King room, and she did.
We drove to Trinidad North,

unloaded our bags and headed up to the room. It was wonderful. We were lucky enough to be one "island" over from Old Port Royale, and we also had a corner room, which meant 2 windows!
Here are some pics that I took as soon as we got into the room:

We loved the room, and found that it was plenty big for us. It was also nice and clean.
It only took about 4 or 5 minutes to get from our building to Old Port Royale, and it was a beautiful walk.
100_4044.jpg

There were hammocks all over that looked so inviting.
100_3561.jpg

We did swim in the pool, and though there were lots of people there, it wasn't crowded and there was plenty of room to splash and play. The DH and I had a lot of fun being the only adults going down the slide!!
We visited Old Port Royale on the first night there and purchased the refillable mugs which turned out to be a great deal for us as we used them a lot during our week there.
The bed was very comfy and the sheets smelled and looked clean. I have to say that I slept better there than I have ever slept while on vacation.
We did have to call housekeeping 3 different times while we were there, but it was all for different reasons. The first time was to request more washcloths. We left the room and walked to OPR to refill our mugs, and when we returned, there was a stack of washcloths there. We also called for more towels again later in the week, and they brought them right away. The last thing that we had to call for was a internet cable. I had taken my laptop with me, and wanted to connect to the internet, but there was no cable in the room. DH callled, and they brought it right away. Once I got the cable, I had no problem getting online, and it worked great!!
We used the laundry which was right next door to us a couple of times and everything was great. There is a vending machine there that you can get Tide, Downy, and Bounce out of for $1.00. One box of Tide does one load of laundry, and the Downy was liquid. Bounce was dryer sheets, and there were 3 of them. The washer and dryer was $2.00, and the cycles on both lasted for 30 minutes. We had no problems with any of the machines.
There was also a quiet pool located right next door (behind the laundry), and there were never more than 3 or 4 people in it at time. We had planned on going for a swim there, but never got a chance to.
100_3563.jpg

One night on our way back to the room, the DH wanted a Coke, so he went to the machine located at the bus stop for our island. Unfortunately, it took $2.00 from him, but he was able to get it back with no problem from the ticket desk at Old Port Royale.
The bus service was great. I don't remember waiting on a bus for any of the parks for more than 5 or 10 minutes, and this was at different times of the day.
We left a tip for Mousekeeping each day, but never received any towel animals, but that was okay too. Each day the room was cleaned very well, and everything that had been used was restocked.
We visited the food court several times throughout our stay, mostly for dinner and snacks, but we did eat breakfast there on our last morning, and it was all very good. We had the bacon cheeseburger, pasta, chicken fingers, fries and for breakfast I had the ham and cheese omelet and DH has the adult breakfast platter and it was all very good, especially the breakfast.
Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to rent a bike or boat like we thought we would, but we did see several people out in boats.
The landscaping and themeing of the resort was beautiful. We really did feel as though we were staying on a tropical island. The plants and trees were beautiful, and there were lots of ducks and bunnies running around.

100_3559-1.jpg

It really amazed me at how big the resort was, but how quiet it was. There were many times that the buses were packed coming back from the parks, so we knew that there were a lot of people staying there, yet it was still very quiet and peaceful.
We very much enjoyed our stay at CBR and if we ever decide to stay in a moderate again, we would stay there in heartbeat. We loved this place, and I can't wait to see what they change when they remodel.
Here are a few last random pics:

What a wonderful report! We are planning on staying here in 3 weeks, and all of the details that you included are making the wait so difficult :woohoo:. I love that anticipation that comes before a vacation, and getting to "know" your resort is so much fun. Thank you, I enjoyed all of the pictures and the descriptions explaining them.
