Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ

I have been reading the post here, and thank you all for adding some great info. Im trying to decide between CBR and CSR they both seem like fun places.

Is there a pool at each section? Or is it a main pool for the resort? Would this be a good place pre-schoolers... (My DS is 3)or should I look at another location? I read they have a playground on the beach, and it looks like they have some water activities to enjoy. Lastly what area of this resort is better for parents with young children? we dont mind walking, and prob. will not use the buses to go to the parks.

It's CBR or CSR... I cant make up my mind!

Thanks in advance.

Just back from 10 days at CBR. I just love it there! It's so quiet and peaceful and truly a beautiful resort!!!
We stayed in Trinidad North room 3359 and had a view of the gardens. We saw rabbits, birds and 2 armadillos!! The boys had a blast trying to catch geicos every day. Being in 33 and on the 2nd floor was great. The ice machine and stairs were just a few steps away, right around the bend was both the quiet pool and the laundry room.
We did more eating at the food court this trip and let me tell you the stuffed french toast is excellent!!! It's the same as the Tonga toast at the Poly but about $2 cheaper. We also bought a mug this time around since we did spend so much time down at OPR.
The CM's were great as usual, bought E ride tix and had no wait at check in.
Still haven't seen Parrot Cay or walked around a whole lot although I did spend a few hours laying in a hammock in front of our building.
For anyone in doubt.....please TRY CBR. It's georgous and just feels like you are on vacation when you return to your room.
Buses were GREAT! Waited the longest for MK bus and that was 10 min and then they sent 2.
Any questions just ask!!

Still so excited about the coffeemakers! And coffee? Regular and decaf? You don't have to request it, do you?Wow! :earseek:
The minibars are still gone, aren't they?

Minibars are gone. You could always leave a note for housekeeping but they were good about checking and refilling the coffee. I want to say it was one packet regular and one packet decaf but not sure.

I think I read the answer to this question a few pages back, but I just want to verify, there are irons and ironing boards in the rooms now, right? TIA!

i am getting soooooo excited!! 38 days to go and i will be at CBR. Last year we stayed at ASMo and there were 5billion love bugs. will it be the same at cbr? how much do the coconut postcards cost? is there anything else different and fun that i should budget for or look for?

The love bugs only come out at certain times of the year. I don't think they are due again for several months.

The coconut postcard is around $12-15, don't remember exact amount.

wow you're fast lol. i was there in sept. last year and will be there the same time of year this year lol hoping it's not as bad around the pool area at cbr as it was at asmo

I admit I haven't read all 60 pages of this thread, so if this has been asked, I apologize in advance.

My only concern about staying here is that we won't have a car. How do we get from the check-in place to our particular building? Some of them look like a loooooong walk (with our bad knees) and I'd have to have to schlep all of our luggage onto a bus.

Also, in your very first post you mentioned it was $15 extra for the preferred locations nearest to the OPR. How do I go about requesting on of those? On the Disney reservation site, it only allows me to choose between standard rooms and water/pool view rooms?

Thanks,

Mark

Bell services will take you to your building and carry the bags to your room for you.
As for Martinique and Trinidad North, what I did was pay for the water view and at check in just requested Trinidad North (same price for pref and water view) I would personally call WDW to make the ressies instead of doing it online this way I am able to tell the CM what my #1 want is.

If you want a preferred location I suggest calling Central reservations and arranging for that now. They are booked based on availability. They do cost extra nightly.

This has probably been asked before, if so I apologize. We are staying in Oct. What is the best village in your opinion and why?

Jamaica, nice buildings, bus stop usually first to pick up and first to drop off (at least when we were there). Only about a 5 min walk to the main pool / food court over a nice bridge and across a palm tree infrested island with hideaway swings overlooking the lake. You could pay the extra money to be closer to the food court, but we liked Jamaica so much, we stayed there a second time.

I'll have to second Jamaica! We stayed there the first week of June and loved everything about it. The walk over the bridge is so beautiful in the morning. It really gave it the feel of a tropical getaway. We chose to use the Jamaica pool rather than the themed pool. It was much less populated, very clean, and quiet.
Last year, before they started charging for preferred location, we stayed in Martinique. It was very nice and close to Old Port Royale, but the walk from Jamaica was only about two minutes longer and much prettier so I don't think it is worth an extra $15 a night for preferred locations.

you guys have given me good ideas. we should be at CBR near end of AUg. to Sept. 2. my dd15 has 2 friends coming so we had to get 2 rooms. also i have bad knees to. hopefully maybe we will get in Jamaica bldg. ill try to ask when we check in. we started out getting res at AKL, was surprise for DH, but we had to change with all the friends coming. but thats ok. i know we will be doing alot of walking, but im hoping not to get like the furthest bldg at the hotel. plus hoping its also non smoking........ guess im not asking for to much am i????????? lol
