Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

We just returned on Friday from an 8 night stay at CBR. We were in Jamaica building 41. While we did have a good time at WDW and the CBR grounds are beautiful, the mousekeeping was somewhat strange and lacking in terms of service.

Our beds were only made two times during our stay even though I left them a tip each day. The first couple days, I thought maybe they didn't do the beds because I pulled up the sheets and blankets each morning. The carpet wasn't vacuumed prior to our check in and there were food wrappers and a straw between the two beds...I didn't complain about the debris on the carpet because we had checked in during the evening and the power had gone out for about an hour right after we checked in because someone hit a transformer with their car. On the bright side there was a turkey towel animal on the nightstand when we checked in....but I would prefer to just have a clean carpet. On the 3rd day mousekeeping finally vacuumed the carpet. The dirty glasses that we used during the week were never removed. Although two new clean glasses appeared mid-week. The only consistency was that they always emptied the trash and replenished the dirty towels.

I have stayed at other Disney resorts and never experienced spotty mousekeeping. The resort seemed pretty empty for most of our stay until Thanksgiving day so I don't think they were too busy to do a full clean. It was odd and disappointing. Has anyone had a similar experience at CBR recently? Does this sound standard?

I am so turned off now that I think I need to stay off site for our next visit. I am not sure if I should email or write Disney Resorts a letter.

I'm a "well, they were probably busy" kinda girl, but I think (make that I KNOW) hubby would've called mousekeeping after the second day! He got us moved at Pop because someone nearby was smoking in their room in the morning and it filled our bathroom with smoke. The initially gave us a purifier which worked great until the next morning when they did it again! I hated it but would've lived with it because I don't like to cause a problem, but he went down and complained as we were getting ready to go to MGM and so I had to wait for 30 minutes with the kids while he, MIL and mgmt went and moved all our stuff. I was not happy. On the bright side, we were moved poolside so that gave us back some of the magic!!

I'm really excited to try CBR after only doing values, so I hope it was an isolated incident and I'm sorry it put a damper on your Magic.:grouphug:

Did you call and report it. We travel all the time and we stay in Haptoms and Hiltons and Holiday Inns and there have been times we had to have them come and do something for us and they were there in a flash.

Did you call anyone about this while you were there? Did you give them a chance to make it right. I would have been on the phone to tell them about it.

I'm going next week, staying at CBR for the first time. Right now DD and I have a room with a king size bed ( all that was available when we made our reservations). My TA has tried to switch it to 2 double beds with no result. My question is, if I would call myself to request it should I wait til a day or two before we leave? I think I remember reading somewhere that rooms arent actually assigned until a few days before the reservation. Thanks.

daisygarden- I would have called and complained about housekeeping while I was there. Hopefully that was an isolated incident.

There are laundry rooms at all the quiet pools. Last I checked it was $2 a load to wash and $2 to dry. There is a picture of a laundry room in the first post in this thread.

I doubt you will get anything more than an apology from WDW at this point. I would have called and had them send someone to re-clean the room. After the 2nd time it occured, I would have had the Mousekeeping Manager come down to my room and see the condition. We had a problem at Pop in Oct, and I had to go to the front end manager because it wasn't being handled. The next AM the Mousekeeping Manager called to discuss the problem personally, and to apologize. While it made me feel better about the problem... I will NOT be staying at Pop again!

Is this quarters or dollar bills? I want to make sure I have the right stuff.

And I thought I read somewhere the Martinque quiet pool would be closed during my stay. I have a preferred room and I think that they are in this section as well as trinidad north? If the laundry is by the quiet pool will that also be closed? How much do people find they use the quiet pools? I imagine my kids will be really excited about the main pool since I saw the pictures of the new one and won't be too keen on staying at the quiet pool anyway.

The machines take quarters. There is also a vending machine with some small boxes of detergent and fabric softner.

Do remember to bring your room key card with you; you need it to open the laundry room door.

Enjoy :)

I have only done laundry when we stayed at All Star Music. The machines take quarters, but there is a machine that will convert your bills to quarters in the laundry room.

Oh please tell me this isn't so. We have a Preferred Room booked and we requested Martinique since they have been refurbed and I realize its only a request, but still I'd hate to get a room there and then have the pool that is open late night closed for renovations.

I AM SO FREAKIN' EXCITED!! We've always done values, so we are REALLY looking forward to something a little nicer! 59 DAYS!!!
We've always gone to the All Stars so this our first foray into the moderates. 47 days!!!!! We're surprising the kids DD(8) and DS(5) for Christmas. I'm not sure I'll be able to get my son away from the pirate pool. Heck, I'm not sure I'll be able to get myself away from the hammocks.... well DS will jump on me... but I can dream, can't I??

I may be wrong, I could have sworn I read that, but I don't remember where. It isn't on allears.net http://allears.net/tp/rehabs.htm#dec - that does say some of Martinque rooms will be unavailable, but nothing about the pool. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Since I'm requesting adjoining rooms I can't really hope to also get specific sections unfortunately.
