If we come back from a park at 1 am - after late night hours at MK Easter week - How is it to get around CBR ? Are the pathways lit well ? Is there a light by the room doors to get back into your room ? How about near the bus stops and parking lots ?

Thanks !

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to say first of all THANK YOU ALL for the wealth of information in this thread!

We are a family of 4 who has only stayed at the Wilderness Lodge prior to this trip. (4 times prior to be exact)

Please, don't worry about CBR it was fabulous! I am embarrassed by the time I wasted worrying and then trying to get my Ressie changed to WL!
It must have been meant to be, that we couldn't get a room because, I have to say we didn't miss the WL at all! We even went to visit and commented on how small the pool was.

I really thought of myself as a DELUXE SNOB... but no more!
The $1100.00 we saved over last years trip instantly became our spending money for this trip!

The walk from Jamaica 41 to OPR and Main pool, was approx 4-6 min. What a beautiful and relaxing family adventure everyday! I really went into this thinking I would hate the walk, but as my husband quickly pointed out, @ WL it can take all of that and possibly more if you have a room on a higher floor in the south side of the building. (you have to wait for the elevator and still walk to the other side .)

In closing CBR is beautiful, relaxing and very private. The bus system went seamlessly for us and we never waited more that 5 mins for a bus to anywhere!

I am more than willing to answer any questions anyone might have, so ask away!

Thanks again.

Thanks for posting this as I have been trying to upgrade baclk to WL. But they have no rooms so we will be trying CBR. Looing forward to a new resort.

The pathways are lit and there are lights by the rooms. Not to say there are not any areas that appear dark but you will have lights on when returning late.

Don't worry, you'll have enough light to make it to your building and room. The lighting is subtle but you can definitely see to get around.

We often stay for extra magic hours in the evening and don't get back to teh resort until 2:30 to 3:00 a.m.!

Too bad we don't have pins that say DIS on them so we could recognize each other.

Our family website is www hobelman com, so if you see us be sure to say hi!

Sorry for the non link I am new and I need 10 posts so it won't let me yet. I am working on it though!

I am also starting a Trip Blog, the link to it is on my site.

I took a peek at your website and will surely say hello if we see you there.. I am planning on lots of pool time my boys are very excited about the pirate pool...

That seems to have gone up quite a bit, or am I wrong on that? With tax? That must be peak season? We've usually been going in Reg. season the last years, though we've gotten discounts with either a pin code, gp code, or the latest one we switched to this Nov with FD. I just hope they don't price us out of CBR! Money will be a lot, lot tighter in the next years so I dread seeing any price increases! :scared:

Nope, you're not wrong in thinking it's gone up. All rates have gone up for next year as they normally do from year to year. We got a fantastic discount for our upcoming trip in 41 days and hopefully the discounts will continue to come out otherwise we'll be priced out of CBR as well! We need two rooms for our immediate family and can't see spending over $400 a night. Thinking of the economy and how we'll afford vacations...makes me  just thinking about it.

Just would like to say thank you...this thread has been helpful to our family who is first time visitors..Special thanks to MariaEller..we took your helpful hints in another post and made our requests from your recomendations.

Just one more question...not sure where to post this but is parking free for ppl that stay at Disney resorts that wish to drive to the parks?

You are more than welcome! I'm glad to be of help, but all thanks should sincerely go to Safetymom. She does a great job and she's the one that got me so hooked on CBR! :worship:

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay! The hubby and I did a split stay of WL and CBR. I was truly surprised to see how much more we loved CBR than WL.

DIS pins would be a great idea!!! DIS should definitely come out with these to sell. I know I would buy some!

I know that Martinique 24 is completed as we stayed there in August. The rooms were fresh and clean. I posted pictures several pages back.

I'm interested in this too. We haven't stayed at CBR in about eight years but are booked for ten days at Christmas - standard view. We did not make a request other than to be reasonably "close" to the food court / pool area as our daughter is HFA and the walking can get to her. It's not a biggie and less and less so as she gets older.

Given that we'll be there for ten days, I'd like a remodeled room if we can get one in any case.

Martinique is totally done. They are working in Barbados. Where they go after that I don't know.

Count us as WL to CBR converts too!!!! LOL!!!! We stayed at WL our first stay on site with the kids and then tried CBR, which we thoroughly loved and booked again for this year. We were going to try POFQ for this year and never felt very good about it, so we switched back to CBR and felt so much better.

As to the pins, a good alternative is the DISBoards LGMH. It's the universally recognized symbol of DISBoards. Go to Home Depot, go to the Disney paints in the Paint section, and pick up the Alien Green mickey-shaped paint chips. You can write your DISBoards username on them with a sharpie and tie them to your backpack or purse. You can also put one in your resort window. I had one on my Camelbak in WDW and had many DISBoarders come up to me.

If your local Home Depot is out of the Alien Green mickey heads you can get chips of Behr "Lime Pop" which is the exact same color and cut it to shape yourself. Lime Pop can be found on the Behr rack at S-G-400.

PS: Mickeystoontown and MariaEller, if you click the little ["+] button next to the quote button it will turn red. You can select multiple posts this way. Then, when you hit "Reply", all those messages will be quoted and you don't need to make multiple posts to reply to everyone! Not trying to be rude, just trying to help.

DH has agreed to split our vacation between 2 resorts when I told him it would save us $400+ by doing it. The 1st 1/2 will be at a value resort & the 2nd 1/2 will be at CB pirate room. For anyone that's stayed at one of the value resorts, can you give me your top picks. Thanks

Has anyone done this?

What info do you need to include on the fax (other than your name and requested room!)?

When should the fax be sent?

What success rate is there?

I know, too many questions......:rotfl:

We have been to all four value resorts and hands down we love Pop Century the best second would be Movies. The food court at Pop has better choices for kids and adults. The busses only go to Pop the other 3 All Stars share busses so it can get crowded.

My son is HFA; he really liked when we stayed in Jamaica and got to cross the bridge to go to the food court. You'll see your share of turtles, ducks, lizards, etc. It really makes the walk less noticeable with all the scenery.
