Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans Riverside?

I am going to try and surprise DH with an upgrade from ASMu to either CBR or POR...

Since I haven't stayed at either, I need help...which is better and why?

I've stayed at CBR and POFQ.. Never POR but... I loved POFQ. much smaller so theming seemed to really bring you in better. less buss stops. Nicer food court. Night entertainment in a lounge. Boat ride to DTD. I liked the rooms a lot more. Pool MUCH better IMHO... more of a chance for jacuzzi since it's seperate from the pool not right against it full of kids. Again I"m comparing to POFQ not POR. After my visit to POFQ I'll never stay at another moderate but it

We love them both! But for an anniversary, I would go for POR.

CBR is fun, bright, and really 'tropical' feeling. I love the hammocks on the beach. There are lot of boat activities, and the lake is gorgeous. THIS RESORT IS VERY BIG. If you choose to stay there, make sure to look at a map and make a room request that is near the main building. We stayed there 3 times and loved it as a kid.

POR is where I spent my honeymoon. It is more subtle, and laid-back. We loved the mansion section, very manicured and neat. It was very quiet. We loved the horsedrawn carriages roaming around, and the boat to dtd was a nice change of pace from the buses (it isnt faster but is more relaxing imho). While it doesnt have alot of 'disney' references like the all stars, it is beautiful and it was a great place to relax after a day at the parks.

Both Hotels are very similar, it just depends on which themeing you like better. I've stayed at both many times, and I personally like CBR better. I just like the Island theme better then the Old South. I will say, however, that POR has a better food court.

Look at the pictures and decide which one you would like better. You can't go wrong with either.

I stayed at POR last Feb. and CBR in April. My vote goes to POR!

I'm curious...what did you like better about POR compared to CBR? We've stayed at POR (loved it!), but are thinking of trying CBR next time.

To start with like other people have stated, the resort is huge. If you room is far from the food court you will have a long walk. I always got lost going to and from my room. (confusing)

The other thing we didnt like which we LOVED at POR, was the food. Every meal we had at POR was great! I didnt care for the food at CBR. I'm not sure if other people felt this way but it would be interesting to know.

CBR has a great bar by the main pool A SUPER walking path for the romantic stroll, and hammocks on the beach very nice hot tub. No kids? right.

We really enjoyed CBR We had a beautiful view of the water. Close to food court not real crowded. Our location was Aruba and it was quiet.

Thanks for all your advice....after looking at pictures of both resorts...we have decided on POR! I am so excited!

You will not be disappointed w/ POR. we stayed at pofq and used POR ALOT for strolls, pools and boatwrights (by the way great breakfast) This is where the disney magic happened for my fiance and I and we knew disney would become a tradition!

We stayed at POR last week and loved it! We were in the AB section building 15. Very convient (sp?) to food court, bus stop and quiet pool. The walk to ol' man island was very nice. The buses were great. I would stay there again.

We stayed in Building 16 and have to agree. Very close to the main area but also has a nice quiet pool to relax in.
