Caribbean Beach FAQ part VI

Funny we just came back and I thought the same thing about the CM. The food court was ok, I found it similar to POP. We ate mostly breakfast there.

Thanks for the great review -- I'm so looking forward to some stress free time. I'm disappointed, but appreciate your honesty, that you didn't like the food court -- on line the choices look good. We enjoyed the River Mill at POR, however, similar to you, the CMs weren't super helpful -- more like abrupt to the point of rude at times.

I absolutely love this resort.

When we first started going to Disney World my partner got us booked in All-Star Sports, it was midnight by the time we arrived, it was raining, and we had to walk all the way to our room with our bags (we were soaking wet) When we got into the room my partner was disgusted at what it looked like (yeah, he's spoiled) long story short they moved us to the Caribbean.

Still long walks , but they were "scenic walks" and I loved the resort. The next time my partner wanting to save money booked another Value resort, this time Pop Century. I told him not to that he was going to be disappointed, I was right again, and that same day we were moved back to the Caribbean.

This time I had him book the Caribbean and am so excited to go again and see if some CM's are still there.

The first time we went (staying on property), I was made nice with a CM in Calypso and had told her how my first trip to Disney World I never got to meet Mickey Mouse and felt like the little girl in the Disney Commercials back in the day where all day she anticipates meeting Mickey and by the end she was about to leave and is all sad but just then she is eclipsed by a shadow of a mouse. I never got to meet Mickey that first time. Later on in our trip I ran into her again and she got a Picture of Mickey and Donald out from the back signed....to this day that picture is in my Curio cabinet.

Last year we went back and low and behold I found that same cast member 3 years later and told her how much I appreciated it, the story sounded vaguely familiar to her (it was after all 3 years later) She introduced me to her boss, I was introduced to another manager, we had chit-chats about living in Florida and other non disney stuff. It was fun.

While the food court we only eat at for Breakfast and its always breakfast food, there was another CM there that for the entire length of my stay remembered from day 1 exactly what my partner ate (because he wanted egg beaters his order was not on the menu) and what I ate (from the menu).

Working in retail I know that good news doesn't always make it to the corporate office as often as bad news, so I made sure my last trip to keep the guest communication business card in my wallet till I wrote out a letter of thanks to those four cast members.

Needless to say because of the four CM and my experience with them I'm returning to the Caribbean and hoping to see them again, in just 8 days!

You are welcome...and don't worry, the food court wasn't horrible...it just wasn't great. It has your standard fare with nothing out of the ordinary. The food we had was edible but not amazing. So far, we have liked the food court at Coronado the best of all the moderate resorts.

Irony -- of all the moderates, I liked the food court at CSR the least! Different strokes, lol!

We just returned from a week long stay at CBR. It was our first time ever at this resort and to be honest, it was never on my list of places to stay. We booked here because it was the only thing available for free dining. I have to tell you, we really loved staying here!

We arrived from the airport around 11:30 am, but our room was not ready. The CM offered a room in Barbados, but having never stayed here I wasn't sure of the location and we had requested Jamaica. She got on the phone and they found us a room in Jamaica, courtyard view, corner room...we took it. The room was really nice. It had a working refrigerator, we loved the bedding and even though it was a double bed, it was super comfortable and we had no trouble sleeping! The room was spotless and mousekeeping did a fantastic job during our stay.

The grounds were just fabulous! What a beautiful sight to see! We had no problem navigating and loved the tropical feel. It does look like the islands and we wished we had taken more time to enjoy the resort. The beach was inviting, the lake was gorgeous, and no matter where you walked-it never felt crowded. We could have wandered for hours. The walk to the main building wasn't a problem at all.

Bus service was fine, but I do think that where you stay would make a difference. We were in Jamaica, so the first bus stop and the buses ran about every 20 minutes. We only waited for that long on our Animal Kingdom day. Our bus was generally full by the time we reached Barbados (3rd stop). So we would just head straight to the parks without going through all 7 stops. On the couple of times that we did all 7 stops, it took a bit longer.

What we felt was the only downside to our stay, the food court. Even though we do not utilize it a lot, we felt it was lacking. We didn't like the set up, we found that some of the CMs were not helpful, and the food choices at lunch/dinner were lacking. For the size of the resort, the seating area seemed really small compared to the other moderates. I would not want to be there during the busy season. It was not awful...just not our favorite of all the moderates/values we have stayed in. The store was the same way...we didn't like the set up and it didn't seem to have an abundance of merchandise to choose from. Package pickup was not well organized. This was not a deal breaker for us...I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

All in all...this resort has floated to the top of our list of favorite moderates. We had a great time there! :goodvibes

Thanks so much for your review!

Same here Tom! The last time we stayed at CSR it was because we had such fond memories of the food court. We were sorely disappointed. Fortunately, Disney has something for everyone :woohoo:

Quick and probably stupid question: Do they have corner rooms on the ground floor? We're going to need to request the ground floor because Mum can't manage steps, and certainly not at the end of the night after getting back from the parks.

Yes they do!

Hi everyone,

I posted this on the main resorts forum but thought this might be a good place too. My DSis is travelling with me next week, she has MS. Not apparent but she does have muscle weakness and I'd like to find a good location to minimize a walk to OPR but also a good chance of getting a seat on the bus. Any suggestions? We booked a water view room, requested Martinique and ground floor. Now I'm wondering if I should book a preferred location (since found out that's what Martinique is) and request a water view if possible. I like opening the door to a nice view but she needs convenient. I'm not sure of the bus stop order.

Thanks for your help.

Actually, there are two entrances into CBR so that will determine the first stop.:)

If we get Martinique then, we've got a 50% chance of a not full bus? I guess we are going to have to roll with it. Just happy to be going :goodvibes

We were there last week and stayed in Barbados. It was last for Magic Kingdom and another one??
Sometimes on the way back we just got off at Martinique and walked rather than ride around.
Most people would give a seat up to your mom I am sure

We stayed at CBR from 9/14-9/28. I found that epcot and Hollywood studios busses always came in the back entrance starting in Jamaica. The other parks started with Martinique. However early in the am each side had its own busses.

If you are the first stop and the bus looks full, don't be afraid to get on, people will be getting off at the next stops so you can probably snag a seat. In my two weeks I only stood twice. We stayed in Jamaica.

Thanks! I'm sure they would if they knew but she doesn't outwardly show signs of having MS, which is great, but she does tire easily. For that reason, she doesn't often go with me to WDW but we planned this last minute trip for F & W. I'm sure we will be ok :)

Thank you! That's great to know, I probably overthink this, just so excited, want it to go well :yay:
