Caribbean Beach FAQ part VI

We are going to WDW June 7-14. Have not booked our rooms yet, we are between Caribbean Beach and Pop. When is CB being refurbished? Sorry if it's been stated before, I have been reading for a LONG time, trying to learn all about it!).
Also, tell me about the pools! I have 2 girls, 13 & 10...the pools at Pop seem too boring for them. Will they be entertained for a day or 2 at CB?
Thank you!

I was told that the refurb is to begin in April, 2014 and that it was possible that I'd have a newly refurbished room when we check in on May 24th. They will start with one village, complete each village and then move on to the next in order to keep guest inconvenience at a minimum.

The main pool is great! It's zero entry and has two slides and is, like I said, great. Each village also has a quiet pool. The quiet pools are, of course, smaller and don't have the slides but are super convenient.

Oh yeah, there's definitely enough to do around the resort to keep you entertained. We usually take at least two "down" days to spend at the resort. There are marshmellow roasts and movies in the evening. There are also pool games and trivia at the main pool during the day.

I have lots of resort pictures in my trip report and on the CBR pic thread. If you want to take a look around, feel free to click on the link below. I have links to each chapter in the second post.

What are you confused about? There are king rooms in both preferred and standard buildings. Your king will be in one of the standard buildings.

Because all my previous readings on the matter have lead me to believe the king rooms were only available for an additional cost.

My boys were 12 and 10 on our last trip, and they loved the main pool at CBR! We spent mor time swimming that we ever have before. We swam in one of the quiet pools once, and they were ok with it, but much preferred the main pool. I went down one of the slides a couple times, and it was fun!

Hello, I'm aware that they sell cases of bottled water at the Hess Stations around the parks. Also that I can get it delivered by local companies like Garden Grocers or Walmart. I know these are my best and cheapest options but I wanted to know if the resort itself sold cases of water. I know it would be $$ and there are cheaper options but just wanted to know if this was something I could just get at the resort. And if they do...cost? Thanks in advance... :)

With minimum orders of $40 to $50 and a delivery charge of $25 or more.. resort delivery is a pricy option. And they deliver to the main lobby not to individual rooms. At CBR that can mean a wait for the internal bus from Custom House to your Village.

The DTD bus stops at the Marketplace & Pleasure Island.. the Pleasure Island stop is directly across the street from a Hess station.

This option still means a bus.. but you would only be paying for the cost of the case of water ;) No minimum or delivery cost. A cab would even be a less expensive option then delivery (and the most direct)

That's correct. King rooms are $25 more per night.

No need for the bus. Bell Services will bring your order right to your room.

Garden Grocer's delivery charge is $14.

I've never seen cases of water sold at the resort. Just individual bottles. We've always placed a garden grocer order for water, milk, cereal, snacks, etc. Bell Services will bring the items directly to your room whenever you are ready.

We didn't really like Caribbean Beach. Too big.

That's the great thing about WDW resorts - everyone has different preferences, and there's a resort for everyone! The size of CBR is part of what we DO like about it - even when the resort is full, it's still fairly quiet near our room and we don't hear tons of extra noise from the main pool area, etc. It's spread out enough that we get a break from the busy-ness of the parks and a beautiful resort to relax at! :thumbsup2

Thinking of trying CBR for our son's 16th b-day trip in May. He will be taking a friend and I thought they might enjoy this resort. I hope they have queen beds by then. :) We are planning on going for SW weekend.

That's one of the things that draws us back to the resort time and time again. We like the fact that it's big and the guests are spread out. Thank goodness there are so many resorts to choose from so there's something for everyone.

I agree 100%. We stayed at French Quarter for one night last trip and we went "exploring". It took us all of 10 minutes to walk from one end to the other. My husband looked at me and said "I thought that we were going to look around the resort." I replied "We just did."

Like you said, we like the size of the CBR and the extra space that it give the guests.

Thanks everyone :)

You're welcome!

I usually have Garden Grocer deliver my order a little before I expect to arrive. Bell services holds it for you - and keeps any cold items refrigerated for you. Then once we check in Bell Services takes us, our luggage and our GG order to our room. Sometimes they deliver much earlier than your requested time also if they have other scheduled deliveries at your resort. I once got a call from GG telling me they delivered my order and I had only just left my house and was on the way to the airport. Another time the delivery came right as we walked off the Magical Express bus.

We've had them call us while we were still on the road...several hours before our arrival. They told me that they'd leave it with Bell Services and they did. When we checked in and got settled in the room, we called Bell Services and asked them to deliver it.

Even though we have a car at our disposal, I'd much rather have GG do the shopping and delivering for me. I don't like buying groceries while at home, much less on vacation. :rotfl:

How much does it cost to use the washers and dryers? Also how much does it cost for the detergent and fabric softner?

It was $2 to wash and $2 to dry in September. I brought my own tide pods and fabric sheets so I didn't check the cost of those.
