thanks to all who have posted in this section i've never had to ask a question because all the answers are already here we will be there aug 26/2012 til sept 02/2012 and to Mickeystoontown i've read your trip report it was very helpfull thank you

We'll be staying at CBR for 8 nights at the end of the month and are very excited to be returning to Disney! We picked CBR because of the 30% room discount that was out when we booked and we wanted to try something new. Due to the good rate we upgraded to a preferred room. My worry is, it seems like every time I read a thread asking for advice choosing a mod CBR seems to be last on every ones list. I wonder why this is? I'm getting very worried we won't enjoy it. I know I've read it's spread out but walking doesn't bother us and as I said before we paid for preferred. Someone please tell me it will be ok.

I have never stayed at CBR either, but agree with other posters about a lot of the negativity coming from the large size of the resort. We stayed at CSR last year and it is also a large spread out resort and honestly you don't even notice the walk. I think one this Disney does well even in the resorts is theming and ambiance. I think you have keep an open mind. It will be ok!

I never understand those who complain about or avoid CBR because of its size. There will NEVER be a situation that requires you to walk around the entire resort. The furthest rooms from Old Port Royale are not that far a walk. And really, with all the walking you already do at WDW....any added walking you do at CBR is like a drop in the bucket.

We just booked this resort for August 30!! Can anyone tell me what building to request to be closest to a bus stop, and hopefully 1st bus stop!!:) We stayed here back in 2009 and loved it, but I do remember the bus situation wasn't the best. This time we want to make sure we get on 1st! TIA!!

Glad the report was helpful!

I agree! The only reason I have ever walked the entire resort promenade was simply to take pictures.

You're in luck! There's a bus stop in each and every village so you'll never be far from one. As far as which stop picks up first, that varies. If the buses come in through the side entrance, then the first stop will be Jamaica, then Aruba, Barbados, Martinique, Old Port Royale, Trinidad North, and lastly Trinidad South. If they use the front entrance, the first stop will be Martinique, then Old Port Royale, Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Jamaica, Aruba and lastly Barbados.

Oh boy, well looks like I might as well just take my chances and not even request a building? Or should I at least try to get near the main pool and food court? If so, what buildings would those be?:)

Some of the Martinique buildings are preferred (26, 25 and 24) but the other Martinique buildings are not. All of Trinidad North is preferred. Both of those villages are on either side of Old Port Royale (main pool, food court, etc.). We have stayed in both Martinique and Jamaica and like both locations. We were in one of the furthest Jamaica buildings and our walk to Old Port Royale was about 5 minutes at a leisurely pace so it wasn't long at all.

We just booked CBR a few days ago. DH has stayed there in the past for a business conference and loved it. Since they have upgraded some of the rooms to a POTC themed room, it's captured DS9's attention and he loves the look.

I was also concerned about the walking distance since we are staying in Trinidad South and my mom and brother will be staying in Trinidad North. I called Disney yesterday and was told by the CM that the most it will take would be 15 minutes from the furthest building in Trinidad South to Trinidad North. I was also told that most people walk from the check-in building to their room. There are others that will take the bus to their room.

You can view the map from the link below. I have a thread going regarding a CBR question I had and a DISer had managed to show the map in their post. I have no idea how to do that.

i said this before, but really, put in a request for specific buildings - like TS 34 & 35. There's a good chance you'll get it.

If you're planning on walking from check-in to Trinidad South you are in for a long walk.

We're going through a TA this time and had requested for our families to be as close together as possible. Initially, our TA had us in a joining room which was great. However, both rooms were pirate themed. My family is going with that theme, but not my mom and brother. They decided a standard room was better for them since they are not into the pirate motif. The closest the TA could get for us, was for us to be in TS and my mom and brother in TN. I did let her know that there are a mix of themed and non-themed rooms in TS (based on what a CM and a DISer had said), but she couldn't get it for us.

When I spoke with a CM yesterday regarding some general questions, she told me that we won't know the building or room number until the day we check in. I was initially concerned about the walking distance, but everyone is ok with the arrangements. So I'm not going to worry about it. I'm just happy that my mom and brother are coming. A lot has changed since their last trip to WDW in 1993. It's also their first time staying on-site, so their in for a treat!

!

can the TA even say for sure what bldgs. you all will be in? Other than the pirate rooms which are obviously in a certain building, but for the standard room, I don't think they can guarantee which building it will be in until you check in. they can put in a request of course, but not guaranteed. Either way, it will all work out fine. :)

That's why I'm seriously thinking of taking the internal bus to our room :)

also, we didn't take the bus to our room, one of the CMs drove us over in a van. IDK if that's standard or not. They didn't even ask us how we wanted to get there, they just said 'we'll have someone take you to your room."

I have walked over to Trinidad South a few times just to take a look around. My walk from TS to Old Port Royale took me about 7 minutes. If you don't want to walk to your pirate room, you can take the bus but you can't take your luggage on the internal bus. The best thing to do is ask Bell Services to take you to your room. They will take you and your luggage to your room via a resort van.

I TOTALLY agree! I am a walker and athlete, and I don't find it an exhausting walk, but It's probably half a mile...which is no problem for adults, but some tired little ones could find it VERY long.

Here's a quote from allears.net "The centerpiece of CBR is its 45-acre lake, Barefoot Bay, surrounded by a 1.4-mile promenade which connects to winding paths leading to all guest rooms and common areas.". So do the math. :sail:

We're taking advantage of DME and both Jet Blue and Southwest are on their prefered list. So whatever airline we decide to take, Disney will get it off the airplane and bring it to our room. Of course checking out might be a problem. I don't know where the holding room is for luggage. How do we get our luggage there? I'm assuming it's by the check in :confused3

She just told us she got TN for my mom and brother and TS for us. That's all we know right now.
