Oh wow! I am glad I didn't get evacuated! That would of been crazy! lol. Yea it was just a weird vacation. I got really bad blisters (which I have NEVER had before in my life!), my phone just all of a sudden turned off and wouldn't come back on, and one of the buses I was on broke down! I am sure some day I will look back on it and laugh lol. All in all it was a good vacation. It wasn't anything fantastic, but I was at Disney so it was worth it! It is crazy how that place just feels like my 2nd home :)

No mine was a guy! A bunch of guys were yelling at him on the bus because he kept shoving people on. and there was absolutely no room to do so. And there were like 4 year olds who had to try to stand and it was pretty late at night so they were sooooo tired! So their parents were trying to hold on to them and hold on to the railing too! I had to keep catching one girl because every time he would slam on the brakes she would fly forward and almost fall! He had a bad attitude too. He seemed to definitely not like his job! But all the other bus drivers were ok. No one was like exceptional, but other drivers didn't try to kill us! haha

You two should of reported those drivers, they could hurt someone. I'm sure that who ever is in charge would not like their attitudes either !

 we stayed in a pirate room last year. It was so nice. Have all the rooms at CBR been remodeled?

sorry if this has already been asked
We are staying at CBR in September
We are renting a car, what is the best way to CBR from MCO?
Should I use the 900 Cayman Way address from my GPS?
How long should it take to get to CBR from MCO
and last, does anyone have any feed back on getting the village they requested?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the Pirate Cruise at CBR. I know that parents are not allowed to go with their children but I was wondering if anyone can tell me if you can see the boat the entire time that the kids are on it. We really want our son to do this for his bday trip but we are not confortable with him going by himself.

First, I have never stayed at CBR nor had our kids take the pirate cruise at that resort. BUT we did have our son do the Pirate Cruise that took off from the YC/BC in 2008 when he was 6. I was EXTREMELY nervous about this. He's a nice child but very hands-on, lots of questions, likes to lean WAY over the boat to see what is in the water - you understand ;) And he's my oldest child so I'm more nervous in general to try these different things - like letting him go with a bunch of strangers on a boat for 2 hours!!! I had NOTHING to be worried about. Disney is all about kids and these cruises specify an age range for a reason AND they know what to expect! All the kids wear life jackets and there are a few people watching the kids (and it is not a large group of children either). They engage them with stories and the ride and a treasure hunt. It ended up being my son's favorite thing and he asks all the time to do it again. Unfortunately, we haven't had the time to do it in our trips since but I would again in a heartbeat!

That same trip, we had my daughter try the Alice tea at GF and she was 4. But she would not have it and she clung on to me and was crying and everything. So they were really nice and didn't charge me anything for it and Alice and the Mad Hatter spent a few minutes with her so she still got some time with them and all by herself.

So if you think your son would enjoy it, sign him up. If at the last minute, he doesn't want to step foot on that boat - he doesn't have to. But if it is you that is worried, don't be!

Just 1 more day I cant wait I have stayed at the CBR for the past 3 yrs in Jamacia and me and my family love it:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

There is also the Pirates and Pals Firework Cruise from the Contempory Resort and its for the whole family. You meet Captn. Hook and Peter Pan. We are doing it this fall.

Also, can you rent bikes from CBR with infant carriers on the back & toddler bikes with training wheels. TIA!

My kids have never gone on the cruise but I've read a few reviews and have seen the cruise boat myself. The boat stays on the resort lake and stays within sight. If it would make you feel better, you could make the walk around the resort promenade and "follow" the cruise.

Hum, I don't remember seeing infant carriers on the bikes or bikes with training wheels. I know that I have a few pictures of the marina and the bicycles (as well as the marina pricing sign) over on the CBR pic thread which may hold the answer to your question.

That's not good! I've always had good bus drivers. Either they are plugging away, doing their job, being safe, but not interfering with anyone or they have been fabulous, welcoming, funny, and telling jokes and stuff on the bus. I've had bus drivers start sing-a-longs, tell trivia, or ask kids and adults Disney questions. And I love how they can 'read' the crowd and know when to shut up and drive (I mean that in a good sense like late at night when everyone is tired) or they know they can engage people and get them excited. Thankfully I've never encountered a rude bus driver!

Oh, good point!! That sounds fun, I think I'll look into it :)

Yes. ALL of the rooms were completely refurbished in roughly the same time period that the Pirate rooms were created.

Amy&Dan - We visited CBR in June 2011 and after our walk around the family said we would stay at CBR for our 2013 vacation. That will not change. I guess I am an old fart and when I reviewed the first page of this thread I was a little let down esp with a picture of the laundry first. I guess us POR fans are spoiled by Andre. I am sorry to have shook the palm trees but I guess I didn't do a very good job of pointing out that people do use that first page as a reference and if I had not visited the resort personally I may not even try CBR. A little makeover of that first page and some additional shots that show the bright exterior of how wonderful CBR is in person may be in order.

Safetymom and other FAQ moderators have a thankless job and donate their time. She loves CBR as you and Lisa do and a good first impression will bring more to find what you all love so much. Just to take a step showing others what you know is at CBR. I will be honest, we had second thoughts until we read Lisa's TR and saw her pictures.

I guess I got tired of all the bad mouth that the CSR crowed gives CBR. You here CSR or CBR and they choose CSR. There are so many reasons to stay away from CSR in my opinion. CBR is like a less costly POLY and that is how I would like to view things.

Please try to understand all I wish is for PPL to have a good impression of CBR and Safetymom I am sorry for any upset I have caused.

I do understand where you are coming from! Andre's website is a real gem, but I can't even imagine how much work and time he puts into it. I would love if it somebody would start up a website like that for CBR but until that happens, I do find that CBR does have a loyal following here on the disboards and that this thread and a few others keep a lot of information current. I really need to get my pictures off my phone and onto this thread. I believe its Catbertdave99 who also has awesome pictures of CBR. If you haven't already, check out this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1845975

What I love about CBR is the tropical theming, central location, grounds, rooms that are a tad larger and the large area near the main pool that has lots of outdoor seating (which is also where they show the nightly movie). The beaches are a huge bonus to me.

I do agree, its got a similar feel to the Poly.

I really hope you like it as much as we do. We have stayed at all the moderates and POR has always been our favorite, but this last stay at CBR was so great, now I can't pick a favorite. We also loved CSR and didn't find any negatives to it, although Pepper Market isn't a great fit for our family (even though the food is outstanding).

Cant believe this time next week we will be there...driving from Houston to Orlando for the first time, we usually fly so hoping the drive wont be too bad. We thought for a while there we would have to downgrade to a value resort but we managed to keep CBR!! yaaaaay....this will be our third year coming here, we love this resort so much. I think its the tropical themeing that makes you just feel so relaxed and layed back when you arrive. We haven't told the kids, they think they are driving to San Antonio for 2 days but we are heading down to Florida for 10 days. Hubby is going to wait till they ask "how long till we get there" then he will say ohhh about 12 hours...cant wait to see their faces!!!! 6 daysss and counting..........:cool1:

I wish I could surprise my kids.. I am to excited to keep it to myself

I have a question about beer. When we stayed at CBR in Dec 2008 I believe it was about $5.50-$6 for a can/bottle of beer at the Store. Recently it seems some or maybe all of the DW resorts have adjusted there pricing. This past Dec at CSR we could buy a six pack for $15 or individual can for $2.50. Does CBR also have this pricing now?

Room location request advice please!

I am staying at CBR in just 2 weeks :cool1: I will be by myself and have a car. I am going to a conference off-site so I would like to be near a parking lot for easy access in the am/pm to get back and forth. I would also like a king bed although I have heard that is a premium and I didn't book it - oh well. So I was going to request a king bed. Is there a specific building or area that I should request to be near a parking lot? I don't necessarily want to LOOK at the parking lot from my room, but I don't want to be in a building that is far away from a parking lot. As for walking and such - I am by myself and walk very fast and do enjoy walking so I am not as concerned about being near the pool area, food areas, or bus stops.

Thanks for any advice!!

I can't help you with the bed question, but there are parking lots for every village/ building. Parking near your room should not be an issue.

The way it's set up, you are always near parking. In fact, we always drive and like CBR because it is conducive to drivers...we find it a pain to use the bus system there, because of the bus stops ALLLL the way around the resort. My husband and I stayed in the pirate themed rooms last time (as far away from The Center as you can get) and still walked back and fourth t breakfast in 10 minutes. But there's always parking available there too, if you want to run in and get a drink refill. Good choice on CBR. I stayed alone at ASM once...bad choice. LOL!

Good to know, thank you!

Thanks for the info!

Even though work is paying, I had to stay within a budget. Since I'm renting a car, I wanted it to be cheaper than the conference hotel so both my rental car and hotel had to be cheaper than the conference hotel for me to justify the rental car (I hope that makes sense!) Not that they even check but just in case they ever questioned my choice in staying at a non-conference hotel, I could easily say how it cost me less than a conference hotel. Otherwise, I would have had work pay for a deluxe so I could have had an interior hallway to my room ;)

I wanted to try a resort I had never stayed at before and had no plans in the future (like this summer we are staying at CSR). I also rule out values. Did that once and did not enjoy it. So CBR not only was the ideal choice in that respect, it also ended up being the cheapest moderate with the 25% spring discount code! :cool1:

Can you help me find out how to get there from the airport and how long will it take?
