for the people just back from CBR, did you see any bounceback offers in the rooms for this or next year? thanks

Hey Everyone!

Hopefully going back to WDW and CBR in August with my mom. She needs a handicapped room with grab bars in the shower and by the toilet. I can only find grab bars in the roll in shower rooms. I do not want to take a visually impaired room or hearing impaired room since we do not need it and what if someone else needed it. And, my moms loves to take baths. Do any regular rooms have grab bars or do any ADA rooms have a bath tub and grab bars?

Also, I need a first floor room. My mom can not walk up stairs. Will this request be guaranteed since a member of our party uses a walker at all times and will be using a wheelchair while at WDW.

We will be paying for a preferred room. I am hoping for Trinidad North 31 or Martinique 26. Does anyone know of a specific room number that is close to Port Royal without the zig zag of the hallway corridors? Hope that made sense.

TIA!

I just recently booked a trip for early June. All that was left in the mod range with the discount was CBR. I've read through this thread a little, but not all of it. Our last 2 stays were at POR, but it's sold out for my dates. We were all the way in the back of the AB section and I didn't think the walk to the pool or food court was that bad......

Tell me about CBR. Is it somewhat comparable in distance from the rooms to the main buildings? It just looks so much larger on a map. And that there is a bus to get from building to building makes me think it's too huge. Preferred is also sold out for my dates. I did request Jamaica, close to the bridge......but I know it's just that....a request. My kids know POR well enough I can send them alone over to get a drink or go back to the room and they're fine. I envision having to walk with them everywhere so they don't get lost. :scared1:

And anything else good you can say about CBR would be good to.

thanks

We've stayed at both POR and CBR multiple times. I personally think both resorts are on par with one another, while my dh prefers Caribbean beach. As for size, I find both resorts VERY close in size. When we stay at POR, we often walk to POF for dinner or for the entertainment and we find that a fairly long walk when compared to CBR. We've never booked a preferred room at either resort because we have never found the walk to be that bad. Admittedly, we don't mind walking, but even the furthest buildings from the main food court/pool called Old Port Royale would take about 7 minutes walk at a leisurely pace. The general layout of each 'village' is so similar to POR. It takes a little while to figure out the best route from your room to the main building at both resorts. Once you figure it out, it's not a problem.

The thing I love about CBR is the rich tropical vegetation and general relaxing feel. The main pool is absolutely fantastic too with a pirate themed play area too. At night, you can even see the higher fireworks from Epcot! We love to find a hammock on the beach, grab a drink, and watch the fireworks. :cloud9:

You'll have a great time!

*I* think the furthest room at POR is closer to the main pool and food court than the furthest room at CBR. However, you're probably not going to be in the furthest room. I also think it's easier to find your way around at CBR than at POR. CBR is arranged around one circular path, with the path/bridge that cuts through the center. I though it was really easy to orient yourself from pretty much anywhere.

You can try mapping it on this site: http://www.runningmap.com/ -- but I checked and they don't have the POR paths listed, only the buildings. If you're used to POR, maybe you can guess where the paths are. I've only stayed at POR once, and POFQ once, so I'm not sure how they run. :goodvibes

Has anyone who has stayed here recently found the rooms to be musty and moldy?? I have seen that a lot on trip advisor and since I have asthma I would find this be a huge problem

thanks
Unfortunately on both of our stays were musty and both times we had problems with roaches. I guess I'd rather deal with the roaches than room being musty and moldy. Both times we stayed was during summer. And this is why I don't want to stay again.. The floor was damped, so they brought us those blower for the floor. I stuck with it, and the following day we moved to CSR! Oh what a relief!! CSR was so clean and so fresh smelling! And the floor was dry! I felt like I was in heaven after my poor experience at CBR!

This is my experience so no bashing please.. I know how the thread goes.. You say something about your experience and someone will disagree... disagree with someone's experience??

Are there showers at the main pool? Our flight out doesn't leave until later in the day and we would love to be able to spend that day at the pool.

*Fansasia* -so sorry to here that. We only had that happen once and that was at a motel at the Wisconsin Dells which closed during the winter. I would ask for a better room but I can see where you just wanted out of that place.
Do you hold that against them or would you go back?

Boy, I can see how this would happen in a humid climate in a very little used room.

Good luck next time.

Thanks. I can live with that. I thought POR looked huge on a map too, considering our previous stays were at the All Stars where everything is so close together. We usually find our building by following the main path, then just follow the arrows to our room number. It's always the longest trek around....then you figure out the short cuts. :thumbsup2

I believe my kids are too big for the splash area....I have a pair of 12 year old boys (twins).......but the drink and the fireworks sounds good for me!

That site was very helpful. Thanks. I did kinda guess where the path was and it seems that the walk from where we were last in AB 37 to the main building was right about .25 miles. If I get the Jamaica section like requested it mapped out about the same.

did you find that out by calling? When you pull up the first half of June, the preferred option is there.

We're using the military discount so yeah, I have to call. Under that promo the only thing available in the moderate range was CBR standard for the dates I wanted. I only booked last week for the last day of school in June, so in Disney speak "way last minute". CBR looks fun and I've considered trying it in the past, but didn't. I tend to like the familiar, which is why we go to Disney every year. :thumbsup2 This time the choice was made for us and I'm sure we'll have fun.

regards

oh yeah, with a discount they only have a limited # available. I only booked 2 weeks ago for our trip that's (less than!) 2 weeks away and we got 2 preferred rooms.

They're too big for the splash pool, but they will LOVE the main pool. The slides are awesome.

Wow it's hard to believe that a room at Disney would be like that :confused3

Just 69 days until we arrive for our 4th stay at CBR!!! I can't wait - we have a Magical Gathering with my sister's family (coming from Singapore where they're living temporarily), and my next door neighbor's family! We'll be staying in a preferred location (works great for our range of ages) and will be there June 15-24th!!

I'm excited to lay in a hammock, hang out in the pool, and start each morning with a refillable mug of coffee as I walk the Promenade around the lake! :cool1:

Aw, man, I'm just so jealous! That last sentence about the hammocks and walking with a mug of coffee just gets to me! At least we're going back in...216 days.:)

only 11 more days for me! :cloud9: I am so excited to try CBR. the only thing that's bumming me out is it's going to be a somewhat quick trip (5 nts.), so we'll probably be in the parks all day and night, which doesn't leave me much time to relax in any hammocks. :confused3
Although...... other family members will also be down there. Maybe I can send DS off with them for a few hours while I lounge around the resort. :thumbsup2

for the people just back from CBR, did you see any bounceback offers in the rooms for this or next year? thanks

There is currently a bounceback offer that goes till end of 2012. I booked while I was just there. Of course every hotel I asked about only had the most expensive rooms available.

Is an activities flier for CBR available anywhere? If not, do there tend to be activities all year round?
