Aside from the nice view, what can I expect from breakfast at CBR? I have free QSDP (first time with dining plan) and am staying at CBR for the first time. What's good to eat at breakfast?

They have pretty much any breakfast food you can think of. The market section has cereal, milk, juice, pastry, cinnamon buns, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc. At the various counters you can get eggs, omelets, sausage, bacon, pancakes, waffles, French toast, hash browns, etc. Pretty wide variety.

Pretty much whatever you want. There is great variety - and not just at breakfast. The food court at CBR is very underrated IMO.

last year our favorite breakfast was the breakfast Quesadillas. we had them every morning . they were so good we paid out of pocket. we also had the bounty platter. that had eggs, potatoes, biscuit, meat, and i think a side of pancakes. another favorite was the yogurt and fruit parfait with granola. the counter service food at port royal was amazing. lots of selection and variety. we ate most of our counter service meals there. you will not be disappointed!!

Oh wow. Thanks for all the feedback! I'm definately adding breakfast at port royal to the itinerary! Sounds like there's enough variety that we won't get sick of it and will find something we like/are in the mood for. Thanks, eveyone!

The last time we were there my wife and I shared one "Bounty Platter" and a couple of the little fruit containers from the Grab 'n Go. We found it to be just about right for us. :)

Ok Im back....please forgive me for ever turning my back on this thread..we always did Caribbean beach resort and loved it..this past week we decided to try POP with the old phrase."how bad can it really be" mindset.....we checked in Saturday and by Wednesday we had checked out and moved back over to CBR...omg..it was like night and day...what a breath of fresh air CBR is after being at POP...I really cant say enough good things about this resort...its so pretty, food wonderful, pools and room clean...and even though the move was not in our budget it was so worth hitting the credit card to get back here and salvage the rest of our vacation. Im going to do a quick trip report tommorow all about it...CBR can you ever forgive me ???????

We are going back to CBR again this year!!! :woohoo: The kids are extremely excited to be going back and often ask to watch the "Disney movie" (the free planning DVD).

Anyway, I have a question for those of you with young kids. Last year we just took our two older boys while our 1 year old stayed with his grandparents. This year the whole family is going! He will be 2 1/2 when we are there. Where is the best place to put the pack and play? I must admit I'm a bit nervous about him having to sleep in a pack and play for a full week, but I don't know what other options I have! I suppose he could sleep in one of the beds while someone else sleeps on an air mattress, but that doesn't seem like much better of an idea.

I guess I'm just looking for any advice on taking a 2 year old to CBR......sleeping arrangements and such!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Glad that you were able to move to the CBR and that you enjoyed the rest of your Disney vacation. Your post reminds me why we go back to the CBR year after year.

Last time we took our youngest son he was 18 months old (now 3 1/2). But my husband would put him to sleep in bed with him, just kinda lay with him till he fell asleep then we would move him to the pack and play which we kept over in the cornor of the sink area, we would close the curtain a little so the flash of the tv wouldnt bother him. Worked out great. :thumbsup2 He was young at that time and we didnt want him to sleep the whole night in the bed cause we were afraid he might fall out, the pack n play worked great in the sink area with the curtain. :goodvibes

Ok, after checking the WDW website almost daily, and then taking the time to price a gazillion vacation packages....Imagine my surprise when they announced Free Dining for dates in August-September....just when we love to go!
So I booked a week at CBR, and it's our first time at this resort. I'm always cautious about the reviews, because we aren't the 'typical' Disney vistors. We're empty nesters, foodees and very active, so a lot of the comments about walking, waiting, weird food and kid-unfriendly issues don't really pertain to us. I asked for a room in Trinidad South, since I had read it was quieter and had nice views, not that we're in the room much.

We were wondering...is there an outside lounge (like at CSR)? Or is the bar inside?

Thanks for everyone's great comments, they really helped me choose this resort over some of the others.

You are aware that Trinidad South are the Pirate Rooms and are an upcharge? What kind of reservation do you have?

There is a bar outside by the main pool - Banana Cabana. They make excellent drinks and are very friendly!

Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at pop. We stayed there last year and just felt the room was to small for 4 of us for 10 days. I find the rooms at the moderate fit our family's needs better. But we were overall happy with our stay at pop. Glad you were able to enjoy the rest of your vacation after getting to CBR. We have just decied to stick with moderates from here on out.

All of the resorts serve a purpose for different budgets, needs, priority's, and expectations. We would never stay at one of the value's for various reasons, but there are lots of family's who love them and don't see the value in spending more of the Mods/Deluxes. For us, we come 2500 miles to get to DW. It's a major vacation, 10-14 days, not a quick weekend getaway and we want to relax at times while we are there, not just cruise the parks. Also we can only usually get away at the peak seasons. I could be wrong, but I don't see the values being very relaxing when close to full. So paying a little extra to stay at CBR or CSR is money well spent for us.

I have a question that I didn't see answered in the first few pages (sorry I didn't read all 90something pages). We've noticed while staying at some of the other resorts that they have afternoon poolside games/pool parties. We've stayed at CBR twice, both times in June, and never encountered these activities. Does CBR do afternoon pool games? I'm thinking maybe we just missed them, but perhaps this resort doesn't do that? Also do they ever do the "movie under the stars" here like at some of the other resorts?

Mostly those are done at deluxe resorts. I think the only other one is ASMU which is a value. I know when we stayed at SSR and WL they both had activites for the kids.

I never noticed any of that stuff either, but I wasn't specifically looking for it. For sure there wasn't any movies while we were there, because we were out there every night, but it's possible there could have been some daytime activities we never noticed.

We've had the pool parties at almost all the other resorts we've stayed at including POR and POFQ, so its not just for the deluxe resorts. We spent lots of time at the pool on both of our trips to CBR, but I'm trying to remember if maybe we arrived at the pool in the early evenings, after the parks, and the pool party was over. I need to look for my weekly events schedule that we got at check in to see if something is listed. Now just to find it......

I guess we must of just missed them. I have never seen them at either of those 2 and I have stayed at both. Must be a timing thing.
