This sounds like my kind of place! Anyone got a photo from Banana Cabana?

I can't wait to be there!

This isn't the greatest photo, but the Banana Cabana is on the far right edge of the pic:

I have a question that I didn't see answered in the first few pages (sorry I didn't read all 90something pages). We've noticed while staying at some of the other resorts that they have afternoon poolside games/pool parties. We've stayed at CBR twice, both times in June, and never encountered these activities. Does CBR do afternoon pool games? I'm thinking maybe we just missed them, but perhaps this resort doesn't do that? Also do they ever do the "movie under the stars" here like at some of the other resorts?

They do have some games inside Old Port Royale from time to time -- here's my son in a limbo contest!

Thanks for all the great answers on transportation! This board is SUPER helpful! Calling all veteran CBR folks...our flight doesnt arrive at MCO until 7:40PM. We are taking the ME to CBR. Taking the ME ride, check-in, going to the room, transportation, etc...Do you know of anywhere we could possibly grab a good TS meal at that late? My family wasn't too sold on the menu at Shutters, so that won't be an option. I know that will will proabably be hungry since its a dinner time flight.

So I'll guesstimate that you'll have checked in by 9:30 at the latest. I would head directly to the food court from the check in desk and grab something to eat before going to your room. Keep in mind that you need to take a bus from the Customs House to get to either your room OR the main building. If you go to your room first, then walk over to the food court, you may be too late.

We are trying out shutters for our Typhoon Lagoon day. I didn't really want to have to go back to the resort and leave to go else where that day. So we are sticking with shutters. As long as there is some sort of beef Dh will be fine.

The more recent reviews of Shutters have been much better than in the past. I didn't eat there last August when we stayed at CBR (mostly because of the reviews), but a couple of people we spoke to around the resort who did eat there said it was excellent.

Really, the only other TS options at that hour would probably be at DTD. Like the PP, I would just recommend getting something from the food court.

I was thinking about doing the Pirate rooms at CBR, but I've heard how far away they are from the front desk, etc. Our stay is just for a long weekend and I doubt we will have time for the pool, etc. Would you recommend a car rental? How are the buses from the pirate room? TIA!

Many people prefer Trinidad South since it like a resort within a resort. There is a nice pool in that area. It is about a 7 min walk to the food court but the walk is beautifully landscaped. There is an internal shuttle at CBR.

My first post on here.....

Just got back from 8 days at WDW, all nights at CBR. Great resort, everything was as expected after reading up on the boards here.

3 SMALL gripes, but nothing that would deter another trip there.

1. The bus system to CBR was the most crowded leaving the parks, and always seemed to have the fewest buses.

2. The dryers in the laundry room were really poor at drying our clothes. (I told you they were SMALL complaints)

3. My vacation went WAY too fast!

Glad you enjoyed your trip!

That was probably my only real "problem". When leaving MK particularly, CBR clearly had the most amount of people waiting for buses. And right next to us for POP, they had 2 or 3 buses pull up for every CBR bus that pulled up. I expected a lot of people at the bus stop, that was not really the issue. What I do expect is an even distribution of buses.

When we stayed at CBR in Dec. 2008 we thought the bus service was fantastic. We stayed at CSR Dec. 2010 and while the bus service was good we always observed 1 or 2 buses coming for CBR before our CSR bus came. Because of this it always puzzles me when people complain about the bus service at CBR because we believe its the best on DW property. It would be interesting to know what the system is for scheduling the busses.

We were at CRB in April and loved everything about CRB except the buses!

Mid-day one afternoon there were 42 people at our stop (Martinique) and when we got to Trinidad South some people were unable to board the bus and had to wait for another bus. It was rare the bus was not full if you were going to or coming from MK or EPCOT and more than a 20 minute wait was very common.

But don’t let this deter you from staying at CRB as everything else was GREAT, just be prepared.

The buses can be a funny thing. You can be waiting 20-30 minutes (maybe you just missed the one going to the park you want), then just seconds before the next bus for that park pulls up, another family going to that park arrives at the bus stop. You're both on the exact same bus, but one family will report a lousy experience and the other will report a great experience. And over the course of your vacation, you can be the first family over and over (hopefully not) or you could be that second family most of the time.

How late can you eat at CBR food court or shutters?? Will one of them be open after a night at the parks in Oct. ?
Thanks!

If I remember correctly the food court closes at 11pm at CBR, unless that's changed since we were there in 2008.

I'm traveling with my family - my husband & myself, my parents, my brother, his wife, their baby girl - and it was kind of a fight to convince everyone they wanted to stay at CBR.

My mom wanted POFQ, because of the size.
My brother just wanted my mom and I to stop disagreeing.

Ultimately, what sold my mom was the laundry facilities (since POFQ only has one), figuring more would be easier for my brother's family.

Until last weekend! When I pointed out that CBR does NOT share a bus with another resort! Now they're fans.

...took 'em until we were two months away. Better late than never? :rolleyes1

We also had a bad bus experience during our trip last August. There was one particular day when we were leaving AK, and there were 3 AS buses that came and went. We still hadn't seen our first bus. It was at least 30 minutes before it came. I seen some people on their cell phones, which I think they were calling the resort to complain. I will probably stay there again some day, but it will take awhile to get the bad bus experience out of my head.

Don't tell your family this, but personally, *I* don't think it took any longer to get around the POFQ/POR bus stops than it took to get around the CBR bus stops. ;)
