My DH and I (no kids this time :goodvibes) will be staying at CBR for the first time - one week from today!! I've read through the thread, but if anyone has any tips, I'll take them! Things like best food in food court, best bus stop, best place to see little critters, etc.

I want to know, too ...:yay:

I wanted to know also!

Let's see if I can offer some info.

Let's see, my husband has to order the Reuben sandwich at least once every trip and the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. I like the fresh tossed chicken ceasar salad (big enough for two) and the turkey BLT sandwich. The grab n go section has some really yummy fresh baked muffins and cookies. I know one of you said it'll be just you and your hubby but for the others who may have children, order the kids' chicken nugget meal. It comes in a sandpail that they get to keep.

We like to spend at least one "down" day at the resort to simply laze around the resort. We've spent time simply sitting on the beach chairs or swinging in the hammocks. During a couple of our stays, we rented surrey bikes and watercraft from the marina. It's a neat way to see the rest of the resort and I highly recommend doing either one or both. Oh, and also at the marina, there's a pool table. A few times, we had the quiet pool all to ourselves. At other times, there were just a few other people there.

The island is a nice quiet place too. There are picnic tables, a few hammocks and benches on the island. You could order a drink from the pool bar and take it to the island or sit and people watch while sitting at one of the umbrella tables outside Old Port Royale.

As far as which bus stop is the best, that's a hard one. It all depends on where you are headed for the day. Sometimes, Jamaica is the first to pick up and the first to let off. At other times, Martinique is the first to pick up and the first to let off. We've stayed at the CBR four times and have never had any issues with the buses. We have had to stand before but most times we were able to sit. Even if you do have to stand, you won't be standing for very long because the resort is centrally located and it doesn't take long to reach any park or DTD.

When we stayed in Martinique 26, the Old Port Royale bus stop was actually closer to our building than the Martinique bus stop. So, we used the OPR bus stop for our entire trip.

I have lots of pictures of the CBR in my trip report including pictures I took while we were riding a surrey bike. Just click on the "Stop Making Me Laugh..." link below if you want to take a look around.

Hope this helps you guys out!

Lisa

I forgot to mention too, that you can see the higher Illumination fireworks from Old Port Royale, the Martinique beach, the Jamaica beach and the island.

Tell me it's not so! I heard there are cheer competitions scheduled for the end of April and they'll be staying at the AllStars and at CBR! What effect will this have on bus schedules and other resort services? Has anyone ever stayed at a resort while this kind of stuff is going on?

Does anyone know if this is true or not? We are staying April 11-18 and I would love to know. May upgrade if true or go to CSR.

I haven't been at the resort when there were cheerleaders or other teams there but I have been there when the resort was at full capacity. It didn't seem like it though. I guess that's one of the good things about a resort being big.

I TOTAALLY agree with Mickeystoontown -- the spread out nature of the resort makes it seem quiet and peaceful by the rooms! We love it!!

Thank you mickeystoontown. That's exactly the kind of info. I was looking for. I think I'll try one of those cheesesteaks :goodvibes.

You're quite welcome! I forgot to mention that we ask for extra cheese on the cheesesteaks and they've always done it without any extra charge.

I hope that you enjoy your stay at the CBR. I'm countin' down the days until we are back on one of the CBR beaches.

Does CBR have hot chocolate for the refillable mugs? Asked this same question somewhere else, but thought this might be a better place.

:) hey, Mickeystoontown :) Was it your trip report where you had your kids jumping in front of the water at Epcot ?
If so, I have had my family jumping up while I figure out how to capture it on my camera ! :rotfl: And, i have it figured out now.
We have some good ones of us, and everyone has loved them ! :lovestruc
I already told them they will have to do it at Epcot. ! :cutie:
So far, they have agreed. But, we'll see ................:sad2:

This will be our second time in CBR in December 2010! Are you sure that we can see Illumnations in the CBR? And Which island room can we see illumnations and in CBR?

Yes they do!!!! My DH and both DDs love having it at night! It also beats the Nescafe Coffee for a Caffeine boost in the am if you need one.

does anyone know if they are indeed staying at CBR?

You can definitely see the higher Illuminations fireworks from the CBR. We've seen them from the Jamaica beach, the Martinique beach and from Old Port Royale.

I looked at a link someone posted with the dates but I didn't see anything specifying which resort they were staying at.
