I just thought of one last question......are the swimming pools (quiet and main) enclosed with a fence?

The main pool is enclosed by a fence. The quiet pools have a wall around them.

Thanks, I couldn't remember. It has been 7 years since our last stay at CBR. DD has autism and although I plan to remain close to her at all times but she is an elopement risk and runs much faster that I can. I want to make sure she can't escape from the pool area.

I love the nemo rooms! Is that something special you would request? My daughter loves nemo!

From what I understand is that eventually all the non-pirate rooms will be nemo rooms once the resort room rehab is completed.

The refurb is done for the Nemo rooms. Unless you are in Trinidad South all the other resort rooms will be Nemo.

There are still some standard non-pirate rooms in Trinidad South that are being assigned to guests until the rehab is completed. That is my worry, that we will be assigned to one of those rooms. However, by the time you go those rooms will be pirate rooms so you have no worries!

Actually we are thinking of changing our current reservation for August to CBR! My husband is a car salesman and with the economy the way it is better to save the extra money that would be the difference between the two resorts! We will see... I am still thinking on it! :confused3

I think by August all the rooms will be completed to either pirate (Trinidad South) or Nemo (all other rooms). They are still working on Trinidad North and South right now from what I have been told. Preferred room locations are the first 3 buildings in Martinique and all of Trinidad North.

We stayed at the CBR back in 2002. When we wanted to vacation last year we wanted the CBR but since the pool were being redone, we opted for the AKL (LOVED!!!) and went back to AKL this past February.

Now we are returning July 11-18 and staying at the CBR. Looking at the pictures of the TV's, how big is that screen? I remember back in 2002, the TV's were in a beautiful armoire and it was a nice sized TV. In fact, I liked that armoire so much, I've been trying to find something like it for my own bedroom, because the doors slid inside when you opened them.

Is the TV really on just a table/dresser sort of thing?

Here's a couple of pics of the new dresser/television/refrigerator section:

We just booked FOUR rooms at CBR for this August. I have a couple of questions which I hope someone can help with.
This trip will include my 91 year old grandmother. She has never been to Disney and is the one who requested this trip. She is pretty mobile and fiercly independent but has agreed to use a scooter for the parks. (small miracle was required for this!) My mother and my sister are also coming, with their hubbies and my nephews (age 4 and infant). My family of 4 includes a 9 yr old and a 12 year old. We are not really planning to use the food court too often but will be using the main pool every day.
So first question: Should I have upgraded to prefered room?
question 2: Will all the rooms be upgraded at least to NEMO already when we get there on Aug 1?
question 3: Should I fax a request for a particular bldg if I do not upgrade? And what bldg should I request?
question 4: How bad will the buses be in early August? How long should we expect to get to the parks using bus service?
question 5: I am planning to rent a scooter for the week and have it delivered to the hotel. Anybody have experience with a scooter that can be taken apart to fit in the trunk of car or left intact and put in the cargo space of an SUV?
I know this is a lot to ask, and have been scouring previous posts to find the answer. I would love some input, advice, given our unique situation of a large gathering with family members ranging from zero years of age to 91!

I think CBR might be the right choice for us on our next trip later this year. It will be just DD and I, she'll be 6 turning 7. We're thinking of a more relaxing trip than we usually do... a couple of MNSSHPs, both water parks, and only one other park besides MK (DD's choice)... instead of trying to do it all in one week. We'll probably stay 7 nights. We will not rent a car but will be relying on Disney buses.

So what we want is a resort that might feel like a sort of vacation within a vacation. A place where we can relax and take it easy when we're not in the parks. A good variety in the food court would be a big plus since we'd be eating more meals than usual at the resort. I don't think we'll do the DDP so we'd eat mainly CS. Since we won't be doing rope drops every morning and fireworks every night we're not going to be in a rush, so walking distance to and from everything isn't important. Most days will be sleep in days, leisurely.

The pirate cruise is a big draw for us. DD has already done the ones out of POR and YC. I was planning on her doing the one out of the GF next trip, but if we could save the travel back and forth that would be nice. I'm sure she'd enjoy the one out of CBR just as much -- but is the lake big enough for them to really go anywhere? At POR they went to DtD, at the YC they went to Epcot, it doesn't look as if there's really anywhere to 'go' from CBR.

I've seen photos of the refurbished pool areas and they look very nice. DD swims some but doesn't like to be dropped into water over her head -- does anyone know if kids are allowed to wear the life vests on the main pool slides? I know she'd be fine with the slides in the kiddie water play area because there's not really much water there. She might be swimming well enough by fall for her not to need the life vest, but I don't know yet.

So for those of you who have been, does this sound like a place that would work for us?

So far we've stayed at WL, liked it; AKL twice, our favorite, so exotic; OKW twice, liked it, felt like a neighborhood; POR, liked it, really pretty landscaping; POFQ, liked it, nice compact size; Pop three times, I'd go back if I needed a value to fit the budget but otherwise not; BWV, eh, it was okay, good location but really lacking in CS food options and the bus service is horrible; BCV, same as BWV, just not our cup of tea.

TIA :goodvibes

We have stayed at WL and AKL and prefer CBR for the very reason you brought up - CBR and its relaxed "feel" gives us a vacation within our vacation. Several other people on these boards have also used that term! Like you, we are CS people, and the food court variety is wonderful at CBR! And the bus service is tremendous, plus there's a bus stop at every village and at OPR, which is very convenient.

I think you'll love CBR!! :thumbsup2

I just upgraded to CBR from POP and I have a question. Are any of the standard rooms done in the Nemo theme? Also any suggestions on what I should request for a standard room? TIA

Most of the std. rooms with Nemo theme are complete. My preferences for std rooms are in Martinque and Jamaica.

Enjoy! :)
