I think CBR might be the right choice for us on our next trip later this year. It will be just DD and I, she'll be 6 turning 7. We're thinking of a more relaxing trip than we usually do... a couple of MNSSHPs, both water parks, and only one other park besides MK (DD's choice)... instead of trying to do it all in one week. We'll probably stay 7 nights. We will not rent a car but will be relying on Disney buses.
So what we want is a resort that might feel like a sort of vacation within a vacation. A place where we can relax and take it easy when we're not in the parks. A good variety in the food court would be a big plus since we'd be eating more meals than usual at the resort. I don't think we'll do the
DDP so we'd eat mainly CS. Since we won't be doing rope drops every morning and fireworks every night we're not going to be in a rush, so walking distance to and from everything isn't important. Most days will be sleep in days, leisurely.
The pirate cruise is a big draw for us. DD has already done the ones out of POR and YC. I was planning on her doing the one out of the GF next trip, but if we could save the travel back and forth that would be nice. I'm sure she'd enjoy the one out of CBR just as much -- but is the lake big enough for them to really go anywhere? At POR they went to DtD, at the YC they went to Epcot, it doesn't look as if there's really anywhere to 'go' from CBR.
I've seen photos of the refurbished pool areas and they look very nice. DD swims some but doesn't like to be dropped into water over her head -- does anyone know if kids are allowed to wear the life vests on the main pool slides? I know she'd be fine with the slides in the kiddie water play area because there's not really much water there. She might be swimming well enough by fall for her not to need the life vest, but I don't know yet.
So for those of you who have been, does this sound like a place that would work for us?
So far we've stayed at WL, liked it; AKL twice, our favorite, so exotic; OKW twice, liked it, felt like a neighborhood; POR, liked it, really pretty landscaping; POFQ, liked it, nice compact size; Pop three times, I'd go back if I needed a value to fit the budget but otherwise not; BWV, eh, it was okay, good location but really lacking in CS food options and the bus service is horrible; BCV, same as BWV, just not our cup of tea.
TIA
