Does anyone use this?

I do realize this is a airplane question, but really only families would use these so I wanted to post here.

The nice CM I spoke with when making my reservations told me I could not secure my children into the ME using their carseats (ages 2 and 4) because there were no seatbelts ... so, I see no point to drag them onto the planes with us. That is where the CARES would come in handy.

I wanted to get some reviews ... at $75 a pop I dont want to make this decision lightly

I used this for my daughter (2) this fall. It was very nice. She did wiggle out but for the most part it worked very nice. I rented mine from ebay. For $15.

We have a CARES harness and think it is totally worth the $. But then I think you can't put a price tag on a child's safety.

DS has used it twice so far. The first time we checked his car seat because he wouldn't have had any leg room on the plane in it. The second time we went on a cruise and didn't need or have room for his car seat.

It's really pretty easy to use. And best of all, it packs up nice and small when not in use. Oh, and it works in both coach and first class, too. (We got upgrades on our last trip :woohoo:.)

I just rented the CARES for both of my daughters on our most recent trip. I really think it helps them stay in their seat. Not once did they ask to get up or try to climb or stand up in the seat. They were very, very easy to use. I plan on renting them again for our trip in May.

I also can tell you that if our children were with us on a flight this past December with us and they were not in those, I know that they would have been bouncing out of their seats. The turbulence was horrible and the pilot even asked for all the flight attendants to be seated.

I would rent them. You can't put a price tag on safety.

We love out CARES and can't say enough good things about it. I have found that more often than not people like them. We bought it and have used it on four flights so far. We fly fairly regullary and I thought renting it would cost more in the long run.
I had posted a reply to another CARES thread here

A quick search found some other threads as well with more info and topics on it.
Presonally I think they are great and I wonder why the airlines don't provide them for kids directly.

Keep in mind that the weight and height limit is 44lbs, 40". So your 4yr old may be too big for it already. We stopped using a CRS on the plane at that age, and ds did find without it. I would definitely consider CARES for a 2yr old though, if I wasn't taking the car seat with me!

I knew about the 44lbs but not the 40inches ... my daughter is only 36lbs but she is 41inches tall. hmmmmmm

I am definatly getting this for my son! Now just to research if it will work for my daughter since shes technically 1inch taller than it recommends ... phooey
