Careful - only one card per purchase, not per item!

I was at MK the other day with a friend. We decided to stop into the Frontierland Outpost for candy - she picked out something, I picked out something. "Here, let me pay for that for ya," I told her as I stood at the cash register.

The castmember rang them up. "Would you please give us VMK cards?" I asked. The castmember gave me only one VMK card. "Wait, we have two items," I said. "You only get one card per purchase," the castmember replied. "If I'd have known that then I would have made her buy her own candy!" I complained. The castmember stuck a second card into my bag without further comment.

This really isn't very good Show. :( Especially since they don't automatically give the cards to people who don't know about them or specifically ask for them. It's like they're being really stingy with them.

I think it depends on who is working. I was there Friday and bought a cookie and bottle of water. When I asked about the card, the girl working asked me how many I wanted. I told her whatever she thought was good, and she just gave me a short stack that had 5 cards.

Yeah, I agree - interpretation of the VMK rules is really spotty among the castmembers. In the past I was able to walk right up to the Buzz Lightyear ride photo shop and ask for a card, and they handed me two of 'em.

The stingiest castmembers tend to be at VMK Central, in my experience... back when there was only a 30-day wait between being able to win prizes, I went there exactly 30 days after I'd previously won stuff, and they told me no, I couldn't have more cards, I'd have to come back tomorrow. I insisted that it HAD been thirty days, and finally they sighed and gave in.

Right now with the VMK tour not running, there's no way to get certain cards - like 29/30 Virtual Magic Kingdom Credits and 16/30 Adventureland Safari Lifestyle Collection - and I'd like to ask the castmembers whether there's any way they'll let me have or earn these cards so I can fill out my collection, but I'm kind of afraid to ask!

It definitely depends on who you see. I bought one pair of ears at the chapeaux in the Magic Kingdom, the cast member asked me how many people in the family play. I was there with a friend who plays, along with her son, so I requested three cards so that I could give my friend and her son two of the cards.

I love stuff like this, notice they didnt say per day, only per purchase lol.

Sooooooooooooooo, if you get a cm that is a real pain in the....noggin, just keep coming back.

There will be 8 of us going in march, i cant wait. I HOPE i get a cm that is stingy, to which i will reply "ok, there are 8 of us, that is 8 individual candy sales, ring us all up seperately please. Oh, and by the way, after we go watch the country bear show, we'll come back and you can ring the 8 of us up seperately again for more candy ok?" :rotfl2:

I agree it depends on the CM that you get.

I have been lucky, and been given extra cards almost every time - or at least in the hat shop one card for each hat - my friend bought 3 hats and i bought two - paid together so she could get the credits on her Disney Visa, and they gave us 5 cards.

Another night I bought two hats, and the people in front of me - I didn't know them - didn't get cards - so I jokingly said - can I have their cards too? He hooked me up and gave me 6.

Mind you, almost every extra set of gold ears I have gotten, I have gifted, and that is my intention for getting extra cards!!!

I have had a couple of stingy ones - both in the candy store!!!

Same here, and that's the only way to do it, Robin Hood style!

When it comes to card hunting, I look for the female CM's. Some of them even know me since the birth of Quests lol. I tell ya, I'd totally be in if I lived in Orlando.

I had no choice at Buzz though, it was some dude at the counter who kept calling me his lord. He did give me 3 cards though, so I may spare his soul.

I was there with a friend in October and she bought, I think, 15 pins. The CM wasn't going to give her a card at all until she asked. Then when she did ask, the CM literally threw the card across the counter at her. At that point, my friend and I just looked at each other like, "Uh, what?". She then found the CM's manager, pointed out the sign that says "Buy a pin, get a virtual pin." It does not say 1 per transaction. The sign clearly implies 1 pin = 1 card. Needless to say, she got the rest of the cards (and I think I've given away nearly all that we received that day :) )

It wasn't a very pleasant transaction and neither she nor I were feeling the Magic that day.

It really does totally depend on the CM that you get. I've had some in Le Chapeau give me a few when all I bought was a single pair of ears, others have been rather stingy about them. I usually just smile and point out that the signs don't say 1 per transaction.

Consistency has never been something one could accuse Disney of - rarely is that in practice. Be polite but persistent and you usually will get what you ask for.

Oh, yeah! You go, Dude! Ring up an extra one for me ok?

It really does depend on who is at the register. I have gotten one card per item purchased and I have gotten 8 cards for 3 items purchased. Sooooo, ymmv.

Yeah I have never encountered a mean cast member when i went to Disneyland in october. When me and my sister bought two magic tricks the nice lady gave us two mirror cards! The best was when my older sister bought her gold ears and asked for a card the lady asked how many? My sister was all like "Uh...i don't know" The lady seriously grabbed six of them! We were so grateful! It was like no one ever asked for the cards! It's crazy!

We had the same idea when we were there Thanksgiving week, and the CM was being very stingy. So we went back later and the five of us decided to ring up seperately. I was the last to ring up, and then I asked for my card (like he did not know we each were going to ask!) and he told me sorry, they were completely out of cards. :( Arg.. Talk about a CM that needed some Disney Magic! :wizard:

I agree it does depend on who is at the register.I hate it when people are at a park that is filled with magic, yet they wish they were somewhere else.Dude,if you don't like the place, don't apply for the job.On the other hand I would so apply for a job at any Disney Park. :wizard:

Now THAT is the Moussedude I know!!LOL If I went to any disney park.. and got a stingy cast member, I'd be like.."There are 6 of us. It does not say one card per purchase. So, my brothers and my sister and my mom and dad each are going to buy 18 different things. Let's see..18x6? And all the cards go to me none the less :).
18x6=Umm.. proves how long I haven't been in school!..LOL not really..

I hope in the summer when I go I don't get many stingy cm's. If they ask me how many I want, I'll say as many as I'm allowed to get. ;)

We had trouble in the hat shop in WDW, but only because the lady was talking to much to give us the cards for the 2 hats we bought until we reminded her 3 times. But the really old guy in the candy was a pain in the -you know what.
We bought 3 things and only wanted 3 cards. I even asked him before hand, do I need to pay for the 3 thing seperatly to get 3 cards or can I just ring it once and get 3 cards? He was more interested in insulting me then anything. He didn't want to talk to me at all, only to my husband, like I wasn't there.

I mean, I had the candy, I had the money, I was doing the asking, why didn't he want to talk to me? Anywho....I wasn't leaving without at least 3 cards.

I got my gold ears at califorian adventure and when to disneyland and showed my receipt and she was kinda like holding back to give me two gold ears, though later on i got another gold ears when i bought three hats for my friends, all being gold ears. yeah but most of the cms don't care, i went in to a shop to ask if they had celebration pins cards and they said we don't but we do have t-shirts card and they gave me two. so i think it really depends what cm you have.
(just to let you know i was typing things like i would on vmk before i edited, i'm an addict or what)
