Hello
Probably had this question many times but when you hire a car over the net does the price they quote include insurance? Have been on the Dollar website but couldn't see any info on insurance.
One other question, for now, we are staying at the All Star Movies what happens about tipping. We've been 3 times before but never stayed in a hotel is there a set figure or not?
Thanks
Anthony

Dollar uk generally includes insurance.

I have used Dollar/Alamo on a few occasions and they have been fine. However I have learned to shop around now as they tend to have a stranglehold on the uk market offering very few discounts.

I have saved £200.00 on their list price by booking through Dial a flight which I was quite chuffed with. However following a link on here I could have saved another £80.00 by booking through

Live and learn eh!

enjoy!!!!!!!

Thanks Brian
Do you know which company they use?
Also any ideas on the tipping at a Disney hotel?
Anthony

Believe it or not they use Dollar/Alamo!

never stayed on site so not sure of the tipping proceedure.

have a look at www.airlinenetwork.co.uk I got a good price for 22 days in August on a 7 seater, and again they use Dollar and all insurances are included. I would only book that way rather than have to make decisions on that sort of thing after a long flight, collecting the car is relativley quick as this is prepaid.

I've spent many hours trying to sort this one out before we book our car for July! I've had lots of help from folk on here (and other Disney places!) and came to these conclusions...
...If you have a 'fly-drive' booked then your car is 'free' so it may be worth looking into a private insurance package, for example

http://www.insurance4carhire.com/

Also Nat West does one but you have to book with a Nat West card.
The cost of the private insurance is quite a bit less than the insurance you will have to cough up to the car hire firm.

..... If you have just a flight booked then it's best to book an 'all-inclusive' deal through a UK car hire place eg Airline Network or the others recommended in this thread. Booking a car at 'base rate' plus the cost of a private insurance policy doesn't save you much really.

This is what I've discovered, although if I'm wrong I would gladly like to be corrected as we haven't booked our car yet and would still like to save a few dollars!!

Also, some 'gold' type credit cards have car rental insurance included in their use but I think mostly they have to be issued in the USA,. Here's a link about Visa Gold.

http://www.usa.visa.com/personal/ca...nce.html?it=il_/personal/cards/visa_gold.html

I suspect they don't provide enough cover for UK drivers, but I'm not sure.

Sorry to preach a little sermon - it's such a complicated business but worth it to save a bit (more $ for the Outlet Mall!)

Hi
Thanks guys, as always excellent advice, just found out that our Barclays connect card has travel insurance included so that was a nice surprise.
Thanks again
Anthony

DW has just taken posession of a platinum connect (which scares me!!!) and it was on there but somebody at Barclays asked if I had a Gold card so maybe its on there too.

We used the mousekeeping envelopes last time we left, they're so cute....each day we signed it with different names like Cinderella & Prince Charming, Ariel & Eric etc and our cleaner Kathy really appreciated it, they're a great idea. We left $2 a day for her.

With regard to the car hire, hubby found a company called yescarhire.com online and checked them out. We've been able to get a car for £198 for the 2 weeks and they use all the big car hire companies like Dollar and Alamo. We've got an economy car with Alamo booked and paid for. About a week after you pay online, they send you your voucher to hand in when you go. Well worth checking out, plus insurance is included. Hope this helps.

Anthony, thank you for this info! We had resigned ourselves to just going for an 'all-inclusive' but if we have rental insurance already included in a credit card it would be well worth booking directly with a US car hire firm and just paying their base rate + taxes. I don't have a platinum Connect but I'm sure I could get one. Who did you speak to about this as we've been finding it almost impossible to get any info from Barclays. They keep referring us to a car hire website or trying to sell us holiday insurance!

Thanks Ms Pennielane
Jubilee, DW went into the local branch and they offered it to her, not sure why, probably because she spends so much money!!! I think it could be something to do with her having a loan with them.
I got the info when I rang Barclays, he said we would need to confirm this but was sure we were covered, DW is going into the local branch tomorrow. We do live in a small town so they have plenty of time to chat and try and sell us other products...I'll keep you informed.

Re car hire if you decline to take dollars insurance, you will have
to provide a Credit Card, and they will block $1500 from your card.Dollar does not accept any ldw from any 3rd party. In the
USA you can transfer your insurance to cover a rental car if you
are a US citizen.Take my advice, save yourself heartace my
dealing with a UK company and pay for the insurances before
you go,you will save in the long run.
