Car service Grocery stop question

So the service we're using stops at a Publix. I was looking to see how curbside orders work there and apparently curbside is through Instacart and says that prices are higher than inside store. How much is the Instacart mark-up usually? We don't need a ton so considering just running inside and grabbing things instead if it's a significant difference. I'm used to just Wal-Mart curbside where its the same price as in-store shopping.

The Instacart mark up is big. We tried it once during the pandemic and now have gone back to in-store shopping. Our car service does a Publix stop. It's the same Publix all the time so we know it really well. Both car services we use had no problem waiting 20 mins while we ran in and loaded up on groceries. Far better value, no substitutions, etc etc. We like the DIY for this.

Ok thank you! Looks like we will just run in. It says we have a 30 minute stop so I don't see us having any issues getting in and out. It says if we go inside then everyone has to disembark the car but we're all adults so that won't be an issue like it might be if we were herding a bunch of children. Is there a liquor store in that shopping center by chance?

Can anyone give me an estimate on what the markup is like for Instacart? Am I going to be paying double the price of food or something?

Thank you!
It's not just a markup on the total. It's cumulative depending on what you specifically buy. I would say for us it was close to double. Every product is more, plus there are extra fees, then you have to tip the driver etc. We normally spend $200 at that Publix for our usual Disney grocery stop. Using Instacart it was just under $400.

What about the markup between curbside delivery (i.e. they bring it out to your car) and physically going into the store and shopping yourself? For example, if you went into Publix and the cost of the groceries doing the shopping yourself was $100, what would the cost be for the same items if they shopped for you and delivered it to your car?

Also, does Publix sell beer and wine?

We have never done that, so I don't know. If we're there, we prefer to go inside to get what we want and not worry about substitutions that may be picked for us etc. Yes, they sell beer and wine in store ;)

Wow! I typically spend about $90 when I shop myself. So I can expect the bill to be closer to $150? :earseek: I'll have to calculate that into my expenses. I think even with the markup, I still may be saving money over a car rental (over $500 right now), parking at my resort ($100), and a Tiffany Town car ($165 RT).

Thanks for giving me an estimate.

I would say at least $150 ;) But yes, you have to weigh it against everything else. It's an option at least.
