Car seats?

I am very excited about cruising with our whole family on the western magic in July!! However -this is my first time cruising with a baby!! I know this will be quite different than our previous trips ---but still magical. My big question is how to safely transport my 18 month old dd to any excursions while in cozumel and grand caymen. Do most people drag their carseat along to put in cabs????? WHat about disney sponsored excursions??? Are they usually buses---or taxis? I just need to get to a decent beach on these islands but am worried about safety( I HAVE had wild rides in those cozumel cabs before) Please help!!! thanks Jill

I would take the car seat, 18 months is pretty young. Course I was probably never in a car seat, but that was.. umm a *few* years ago

Yes they are a pain to lug around, but worth the hassle. Some excursions are buses, others arent.

You will find that the majority of taxis & busses on the islands do not have seat belts so you wouldn't be able to secure them in. The taxis on St. Maarten were minivans & the driver waited until everyone had their seatbelt on, which I liked.

I'm a safety nut as well and we are dragging along our carseat as well. Because DH and I are flying separately (due to an airmiles booking), DD4 and I leave on an earlier flight but meet up with DH in Toronto the next day. Because we arrive in TO at midnight, and my bro lives in Toronto, he's been "sent" to buy a booster seat there so we can take it for the rest of the trip since brother is coming with us as well.

I was wondering about the taxis and buses as well. But we wanted the booster seat mostly for the time before and after the cruise since we'll be in Orlando for few days with a rental car. We'll probably lug it with us on our excursion anyways.
