Hi sorry for my numerous threads the last few days - I'm now starting to panic about things I wasn't worried about before!!!

I have booked and paid for 2 car seats through Virgin holidays for DS4 and DS9mths. Is this a bad idea????

Has anyone any experience of using the Dollar car seats - are they ok (especially for babies)???

thanks again!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We had a car seat from Alamo last time and it was ok.

Are you picking the car up as soon as you land? We are thinking of buying a car seat from Wallmart or Target as they seem to work out cheaper to buy than to rent if you are going for 2 weeks or more.

We were a bit worried about the way that some of the baggage handling staff chuck stuff around and it has put us off using our own.

Suddenly remembered a website that might be useful for you trip its

http://www.abbf.com/

I've no idea whether they are any good, but when we were waiting to get the Magic Express back to the airport we saw some baby toys and other baby equipment being delivered to someone staying in our resort.

thanks ever so much for the advice - we are worried about the baggage handler but its more that DH thinks we have enough to carry without worrying about car seats!!!

Perhaps I could see what the car seats are like as we are collecting the car from the airport and then if the next day we really aren't happy we could go and check out walmart!!

thanks ever so much!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Just a quick thought, we have found it easier now booking hotel direct with disney (only works if staying onsite) as I am a serial packer. Utilise Disney Magical express to get to resort as you only have to worry about handluggage as they do the rest, you can then take your own car seats as they will be delivered straight to your room, then book car hire from the next day, most places will collect you and then away you go, no luggage to carry, and you get to use your own seats. (we have 2 lo in pushchairs too and that plus 2 cases plus hand luggage is no mean feat let alone 6 cases, 4 peices of hand luggage, 2 car seats and 2 pushchairs!) Might be a bit late for this trip though;)

Dollar were quoting us $10 per day (plus tax) to hire a child seat. :scared1:

As we were arriving a couple of days before the rest of the family, we went to
Super Target and purchased a great seat for just $49 and fitted it ourselves.

I just don't know how the car rental people can justify their prices.

I have been to Orlando twice - the first time we hired a seat from Alamo for DS who was 2 at the time. When we picked up the car there was a massive pile of car seats - all bagged - ready for you to choose from. It took us a couple of attempts to get a suitable one and it was fine.

However, be prepared for no help in fitting the seat, the guys at Alamo just looked clueless when I asked them for help. Obviously they are all pretty much the same to fit but after a 9 hour flight with 2 kids, the last thing you need is the stress of having to figure out how to fit a car seat in a car you have never driven before either.

Last year I took my own car seat. I had no problems at all with the baggage handling even though I flew Air Canada and had a stop in Toronto before reaching Orlando. This was much less stressful and I will be doing exactly the same again this year.

Good luck
