I am traveling with my 3DD and am not certain what to do about a car seat. I don't really want to haul one with us. It is my understanding that in Florida they are required if the child is under 5 years. Does anyone know if that is the case. Also, what if they are in a limo or on a bus for an excursion?

Thanks in advance,
Tracie

Hi Tracie,
You can rent car seats from the car rental agency, if you use a towncar service you can request a seat to use. I know when we go to Cancun they drive so crazy! It is scary if your child isn't in a car seat. I do not know about the Disney bus, or the island stuff!
I think your only option for and island taxi is to buckle in....unless you are going to lug the car seat on trhe beach! What a pain huh?

Have you bought a seat for her on the plane? It has been our experience that it is MUCH easier for our DD3 on the plane when she's in her own seat. It feels familiar to her, and she understands the rules. You just have to make sure that your seat has the red FAA approved sticker on it.

I always bring my own carseat for my DD3 on the plane. I feel safer with my own seat and I would never have her in a car without it. Even at nearly 4 years old, she is too small for a regular seatbelt. And, it is MUCH easier for her to be in the carseat on the plane.

I stashed it in the closet onboard the ship.

No big deal.

Rent a car seat from a car rental company? You must be crazy! They charge $10-$20 per day for the car seat. If you rent one more than a couple of days, you might as well buy a new one.

We once forgot to bring a car seat to Florida and instead of renting a car seat, we drove directly to Wal-mart and bought a new one for $50.00.

We have two car seats that we lug for every plane ride we take.. one for my 16 mo old and one for my 5 yr old. I feel much better during turburlance that I did the right thing, and we stow them next to wall and bed in our cabin on the cruise. (DCL won't stow them in their storage space since the virus stuff). On the transfer with the Disney bus, there are no car seats or seat belts. If you want to use your car seat on the transfer bus, you need to bring an extended belt of some sort to attach it to the seat. If you spend some time prior to the cruise in cars, I'd definately bring your own. It's always been comforting to have a familiar carseat in a strange place to my kids. take care... and have blast!
