I am about to book transportation from the airport to the Poly and was wondering do most of the car services recommended on this site supply car seats and booster seats for the kids.

We always use paylesstransportation.com and they've always provided a seat free of charge. You do need to arrange it with them ahead of time.

Some companies to charge a small fee, so it's best to ask.

And keep in mind that if you say booster it might be one of the small boosters, not a high backed booster that most people own. They don't fit a young child (just over 40 pounds and too big for the regular carseats) as well as the high backed boosters with the belp adjustment loops. It won't be an issue with a taller child.

Florida law does not require a booster seat for a child 3 years or older.

While, I would like to have my child buckled up, I will not send a car seat as cargo, or rent one for a 20 minute van ride.

Heck, our parents unstrapped us as kids from the time we could walk...we are all alive and well.

We are just seat belting our child in.

Of course we're alive to talk about not being buckled in as children. The people who were killed, as many were, are not around to talk...

As far as renting one for a town car/van ride, the places I've looked at don't charge for that. I think it's ridiculous what the rental car companies charge--I've seen the seats sitting near the rental car offices and it's not even as if they are these wonderful, clean, nice seats like you would expect for $7/day.

I will bring my own booster--it can be checked like baggage, but does not count as one of the 2 per person bags. Personally, I could never live with myself if I didn't buckle my son and something happened too him. There are many things that I can't control, but this is not one of them.

That is not correct, FL law does require 3yo's to be in a CSR. Even though it is one of the most lenient states in the US children through age three must be in a CSR while children 4 and 5 must simply be in a seatbelt. There is a push now for 8 and 80 but that has been voted down 2x that I know of.

"All children 5 years of age or younger must be properly restrained no matter where they are sitting in the vehicle. Children through age 3 must be secured in a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child safety seat. For children aged 4 through 5 years, a separate carrier, an integrated child safety seat, or a safety belt may be used. (FL Statute 316.613)."

The fact is that you will be traveling 35-50 mintues on a major highway with taxi's, buses and people who are driving a rental car they have never driven in a place they are not familiar with. IMHO this is not worth taking a chance or breaking the law.

You will be surprised at the damage a seatbelt can do to a little one in the event of a crash, putting the shoulder belt behind the back is considered by the AAP as more dangerous than not wearing a seatbelt as a result of the damage it does.

To all those on the fence, please consider packing your CSR, asking the towncar company for one as most provide one for free or just rent one from the rental agency. Personally my dd's are worth alot more than $8.00 per day or a little hassle with luggage.
/rant - sorry

I have used both Tiffany and Quicksilver and both provided carseats in good condition free of charge. We did book the carseats in advance with our reserrvation and I did call to confirm the transport, carseats and the grocery stop the day prior.
