Car Seats and Transportation to/from the airport

We are planning our 1st trip to Disney and had some questions about the transportation from the airport to the resorts.

We are flying with a 5 1/2 yr old (too tall for a Marathon now...in a Regent at home) and a 3 year old (will be rf'ing in a Marathon).

Do any of the Disney transportation services have vehicles with seat belts? Or are we going to have to get a cab or some other transportation there? If so what is the best option? I just don't feel well about going all that way with 2 unrestrained kids :(

I plan on getting dd a Monterey and carrying on just the bottom of it on the plane for her to use to/from the airport. Which brings me to another question...if I carry on her booster does that count as my 1 carry-on on Air Tran?

DME buses don't have seatbelts. Neither does the buses Disney uses to transport guess from hotels to parks. Parents who have issues should rent a car. Use it to go from MCO to WDW and from your resort to the parks.

I'm a big carseat person, when traveling in cars. But coach buses and transit buses aren't designed to be used with seatbelts, and I have NO problems with that. Not sure why, but I don't.

If it makes you too nervous, though, you'll likely need to rent a car. Not sure where you could put the seats, if you take taxis to the parks, during your days in the parks. :)

FYI I'm not sure a flight attendant is going to let your 3 year old rearface. And from what I've read, it's NOT necessary on an airplane...rearfacing is to take the brunt of impacts you encounter in a car...you're not going to have those impacts in a plane. Carseats on plane are to keep them strapped in in case of turbulence so big you can't keep hold of them, and to keep bigger kids contained in their seats instead of slipping out from under the lapbelts. So I don't think rearfacing in the plane is something you need to worry about with your 3 year old. :)

Thanks. I'm ok within the park just not keen on the idea of the long ride to/from the airport. I guess we'll just get a cab or driver for that part.

As for the plane, I've never had an issue rf'ing an older child. They've always been more comfortable that way so it works better for us. Plus she is a tiny...22 lbs.
