Car Seat / Rental Car Question

I am wondering if it is a hassle to bring your own car seat as opposed to getting one from the car rental place. We have already planned on renting a car. We are flying out next week and will be bringing our stroller and I know they store your stroller for you but what about car seats? Can we place that car seat in the stroller a roll it onto the plane? If someone has rented from car companies what is the going rate? Any issues? Im kinda finicky when it comes to car seat rentals because you truly do not know the history that goes with that specific seat. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

We have always brought our own. We have checked it with our luggage for free and have had no problems.

We always gate check our car/booster seats. If it is just booster seat with no back you can fit it in the overhead bin.

How old is the child? Do u own a seat that can be used on the plane? We've travelled w/car seats (on the plane) and one rime we rented a car but didnt have our seat, the rental company provided one.

I prefer bringing my own seat. How old is your child?
If he/she is a lap baby you can check your carseat (I think most airlines do this for free).
You can also install *most* carseats on the plane if your child has his/her own seat.

I would bring the car seat and use it on the plane if possible. If the child doesn't have their own seat and cannot use the car seat, you can gate check it along with your stroller. I would avoid checking it along with checked baggage. There is a greater risk for damage to the seat and that could affect its performance when you need it in an accident.

Nearly all harnessed seats are approved for use on aircraft. Check the seat for the FAA approval statement. Belt positioning boosters are not approved for use because they are designed to position the shoulder belt propery, and planes only have lap belts.
