Hi all -

First off, I don't post much here, but I've been lurking for quite a while and there's GREAT info on DLRP here, so thanks!! :thumbsup2

We're heading to Disneyland Paris mid-March. We've been to every other Disney park in the world... This will complete the quest! :cool1:

But I have a question for you all. This will be our first trip with our new little one. She'll be 6 months old when we travel (and we're coming from the States).

We're going to travel around Paris most of the time via rail, and occasionally via taxi when need be. Because of this, we're not planning on bringing a car seat for the baby.

Will we be okay not using a car seat with her on the trip from the airport to the resort? That's really the only leg of the trip where it MIGHT be needed, and we're really trying to not have to mess with bringing a car seat just because of the extra hassle.

I understand, obviously, that there's more risk involved should there be an accident on the shuttle ride to and from if she's not in a car seat, but I'm wondering if they'll REQUIRE a baby be in a carseat or not.

We'd much rather hold her in our laps if possible.

I'm not sure on that one, but some transfer companies have carseats for just this use, might be worth asking the shuttle company if they have any.

RS Transport had a booster seat for our 4 year old on the return journey - obviously not the same as needed for a baby, but they might be worth checking.

I've travelled with our youngest on our laps on all of our taxi journeys and it's never been a problem. They've always had boosters for the older 2 but never a carseat for the youngest. Not sure about laws, I was a bit worried as it's law here in UK that they must be in a car seat, but the driver has never said anything about it.

could you buy a travel system and use that for the trip, we took ours on holiday to spain when 2 nd daughter was 6 months, was great as i knew she was safe, was no extra hassle and went inthe hold on the plane, maybe worth looking into as an option. Dont know if they are called somthing else in the us but a uk travel system is something like this http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-U...o-Sterling-Travel-System-in-Manhatten(0034723) where the car seat clips on the pram.

We thought about a stroller/car seat combo... But overall the goal is to travel light, so we've got a light but high quality stroller. All the stroller/car seat combos over here are big and bulky.

In checking out the VEA shuttle pictures, I'm guessing we'll be okay without it... Or it seems there might be a service that we can get that is private... Would cost a bit more, but they can provide a car seat for a little one. Might be the best choice even though it's more money.

Ensuring a child is restrained in a car seat is manditory in France.
I can't help regarding taxi so it may be that they are exempt.

Interesting as I've just had this conversation on the WDW board and take the approach of if you protect your little ones at home. Why not do the same on holiday :goodvibes
We take our own car seats with us :thumbsup2

Your best bet is not to have a lap child on the plane either. I'd bring at least her infant carrier for both the plane and the shuttle. It's small, it won't take up much room in your hotel, baby will be sooooo much safer and happier in her own seat.
